12 Objective Description of the Potential City Charter Measure

13 Description of City Charter Measure
Q. Having heard this, do you think you would vote “yes” in favor of this measure to establish Bellflower as a charter city, or “no” to oppose it? Currently, Bellflower is a general law city, meaning that the California Legislature has the independent authority to make laws and other decisions governing the City, without its input.

Becoming a charter city would give more local authority over Bellflower regulations which are tailored to the specific needs of our own community. This measure would establish Bellflower as a charter city to provide more local control in determining land use and fiscally responsible contracts with vendors. California charter cities include Downey, Cerritos, Long Beach, Whittier, and Signal Hill.

14 After an objective description, overall support increases six percentage points, from 67% to 73%.
