DATE: March 24, 2025

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Agreement File No. 857.1 (“Agreement”) allows George Chevrolet to store new vehicles on a temporary and as-needed basis on various City-owned locations such as the City’s downtown parking structure. The Agreement is set to expire on April 8, 2025.

Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement will allow for three successive one-year term renewals through April 8, 2028.

RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL

1) Authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to Agreement File No. 857.1, in a form approved by the City Attorney; or

2) Alternatively, discuss and take other action related to this item.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact as a result of Amendment No. 1 to Agreement File No. 857.1.

Under the original agreement, the City receives $1,000 in license fees each month.

DISCUSSION

The Agreement serves as a license agreement for George Chevrolet to utilize various City-owned locations to temporarily store the overflow of new vehicles on a temporary and as-needed basis. Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement will extend the term of the Agreement by three years and all other terms and conditions of the Agreement will remain the same. George Chevrolet would still be required to provide onsite security when utilizing City property for temporary vehicle storage. The security will encompass, at minimum, periodic patrols conducted in a marked vehicle. Additionally, upon written or verbal notification by the City, George Chevrolet would still be required to remove vehicles, materials, and equipment from the designated facility within 48 hours.
