DISCUSSION – Continued
The Fire Museum and LACFD have requested the City’s approval to host Fire Service Day at the Fire Museum located at Bellflower Boulevard on May 10, 2025. To showcase the LACFD’s fire apparatus, such as fire engines, fire trucks, a Haz-Mat truck, an urban search and rescue truck, lifeguards, dozers, and a flyover. The LACFD and Fire Museum have also requested a temporary street closure on Bellflower Boulevard from Mayne Street to Oak Street, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on May 10, 2025. The temporary street closure would grant the residents, visitors, and the LACFD and Fire Museum staff safe access to Bellflower Boulevard during Fire Service Day activities.
Additionally, the LACFD has expressed interest in using the parking lot adjacent to the Fire Museum for Fire Service Day if approval is obtained from all businesses potentially affected by the event including, but not limited to, the dental office, the Elks Club, and the appliance store. The event itself will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 10, 2025, and the LACFD is anticipating between 500 to 800 attendees at Fire Service Day.
The Los Angeles County Fire Museum will cover all expenses related to this event, which include, but are not limited to, the traffic control and security for public safety measures during the event. If approved, a “no-fee” encroachment permit would be issued for the event.

RE: FIRE SERVICE DAY
The Los Angeles County Fire Museum and Los Angeles County Fire Department respectfully request permission to host Fire Service Day at the Fire Museum on Bellflower Boulevard, highlighting our equipment and the services we provide.
Like last year’s event, it is difficult to estimate total attendance, but based on previous experiences, we anticipate between 500 to 800 attendees, if not more.
To facilitate the display of LACoFD fire apparatus—including fire engines, fire trucks, a Haz- Mat truck, an Urban Search & Rescue truck, lifeguards, dozers, and a flyover—we are requesting approval to close Bellflower Boulevard between Mayne Street and Oak Street .
Event Details:
괜괝괞괟괠괡괢괧괣괤괥괦 Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025,
 Street Closure: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
 Event Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Fire Museum will cover all expenses related to this event, including but not limited to:
✔ Traffic control
✔ Security (as deemed necessary)
Additionally, we are interested in utilizing the parking lot behind the museum. We understand that approval is required from neighboring businesses—including the dental office, the Elks Club, and the appliance store. If they are not in agreement, we will not pursue this option to maintain good relationships with our neighbors.
Thank you,
Acting Assistant Fire Chief Khoi Dao (La Fonda Riggins)
