The cost discrepancy between the Traffic Law Car – 40-Hour Relief (010-42155-2200), budgeted at $435,791 in FY 2025-26, and the Special Assignment Sergeant (010-42150-2200), budgeted at $323,019 in FY 2025-26, is due to the following: the sergeant position is not charged a Liability Trust Fund fee (resulting in a 12.5% savings), and it is a non-relief item. In contrast, the Traffic Law Car is a relief item, which carries a higher cost because the position must be filled under all circumstances.
