2025 Building Codes Update
•Every 3 years,the CBSC is updated
•This Ordinance amends portions of the 2025
CBSC and adopts the 2025 Edition of the CBSC
•California law requires the City Council conduct
a public hearing before second reading of
ordinances that adopt the CBSC by reference.
Recommendation is to set the public hearing
for September 22,2025.
2025 Building Codes Update
•Changes relate to fire protection(section 503),
solar photovoltaic power systems, EV charging
and storage stations, EV vehicle storage and the
permit expiration timeframe.
•Projects for which a building permit application
and building plans were submitted before the
Ordinance’s effective date, and for which building
permits are obtained within 90 days of the
effective date, would be exempt from the
updated regulations.
Recommendation
1)Read by title only, waive further reading, and
introduce Ordinance No. 1449; and
2)Set a public hearing for the September 22,
2025, City Council Meeting for second reading
and possible adoption of the Ordinance; or
3)Alternatively, discuss and take other action
related to this item
