EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This action would approve and authorize the installation of red curb parking restrictions on Alondra Boulevard west of McNab Avenue pursuant to Bellflower Municipal Code (“BMC”) Chapter 10.04.
RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL
1) Authorize the Director of Public Works (“Director”), or designee, to install red curb parking restrictions on Alondra Boulevard west of McNab Avenue; or 2) Alternatively, discuss and take other action related to this item.
FISCAL IMPACT
The estimated cost to install the red curb parking restrictions is $300.00. Funds are budgeted in Account No. 010-43170-3100 (Street Maintenance Traffic Paint).
DISCUSSION
The Director recently completed the review of the proposed McDonalds development at the northwest corner of Alondra Boulevard and McNab Avenue. Due to the anticipated increase of vehicles exiting the location onto Alondra Boulevard, the City Engineer anticipates that visibility of oncoming westbound traffic will be impacted. In an effort to mitigate line-of-sight constraints for the development’s proposed ingress and egress point on Alondra Boulevard, and to improve traffic safety and operations, the City Engineer is recommending that existing on-street parking be prohibited along Alondra Boulevard fronting the development. Therefore, the installation of approximately 80 feet of red curb parking restrictions on the north side of Alondra Boulevard west of McNab Avenue is recommended.

DISCUSSION – Continued
On July 1, 2025, the Director noticed area residents that this matter would be brought before the Public Safety Commission at its July 15, 2025, meeting. The meeting was continued to the August 19, 2025, Public Safety Committee meeting due to a lack of quorum. After considering the matter, the Public Safety Commission recommended the City Council approve 80 feet of red curb parking restrictions.

SUBJECT: Notification of Pending Changes — Installation of Red Curb Parking Restrictions on Alondra Boulevard west of McNab Avenue

This letter is to inform you of the proposed change described below, The City is proposing to install approximately 100’ of red curb parking restrictions at the northwest corner of Alondra Boulevard and McNab Avenue. The proposed change is, illustrated in the attached aerial photograph.
This item will be discussed at the City of Bellflower’s Public Safety Commission meeting on‘Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The meeting will be held at Bellflower City Hall in the City Council Chambers located at 16600 Civic Center Drive. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm.
