Re: Opportunity to Apply for an Available Commercial Cannabis Retail License
Dear Mayor and Members of the City Council:
STIIIZY respectfully submits this letter requesting that the City of Bellflower provide our company the opportunity to apply for a commercial cannabis retail license. We recently entered into a purchase agreement for the former Medicine Woman location at 9058 Rose St and are confident that with our operational expertise and strong brand we can deliver substantial revenue to the City of Bellflower and get operational very quickly.
Founded in Southern California, STIIIZY is the largest and most successful cannabis company in California. We cultivate, manufacture, distribute, and operate more than 66 retail locations throughout California, while our products are carried in over 96% of licensed cannabis retailers statewide. Since 2021, STIIIZY has sold more cannabis products than any other company in the nation.
Our experience has taught us that successful cannabis businesses are built through partnership with local government and the communities they serve. Every STIIIZY retail location is designed to complement its surroundings, incorporates comprehensive security measures developed in coordination with licensed security professionals, and emphasizes responsible operations, regulatory compliance, and ongoing communication with local law enforcement and City officials.
We also believe that cannabis operators should contribute meaningfully beyond tax revenue. Across California, STIIIZY employs more than 2,300 people, prioritizes local hiring through community job fairs, and offers competitive wages and comprehensive employee benefits. Since 2017, our company has contributed more than $40 million toward nonprofit organizations, community initiatives, veteran support, public safety partnerships, environmental projects, and programs serving underserved communities.
Importantly, STIIIZY is already familiar with serving communities throughout Southeast Los Angeles County, including neighboring jurisdictions such as Artesia, Long Beach, and Lynwood where we have stores. We understand the unique responsibility that comes with operating in established communities and the importance of being a responsive, accountable, and long-term community partner.
We are not requesting that the City waive its standards or guarantee approval. Rather, we respectfully request the opportunity to participate in a fair application process should an available retail license exist.
We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate that our qualifications, operating history, and commitment to community partnership would make STIIIZY a strong addition to Bellflower.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and service to the residents of Bellflower. We respectfully request that this letter be entered into the public record, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with the City.
Respectfully,
Tak Sato
President
