Hi City Council and City Staff,
I'm writing in strong support of item 8B on your agenda for Tue 1/10/23: the adoption of the updated energy/EV reach codes.
Thank you for all you are doing to protect Belmont in the face of climate change. As residents of the flat part of Belmont that we've seen this week is at great risk of flooding with sea level rise, my family and I care deeply about protecting our community from climate change.
These critical code updates will go far to protect the health and safety of our community for decades to come.
I urge you to keep your positive plans to require all-electric buildings for new construction and substantial remodels, as well as the robust EV charging levels you've outlined that wisely go beyond the state minimums. These ordinances are an essential move to accelerate our region's transition to a climate-friendly electrified life.
