The regular meeting of the Belmont City Council and Belmont Fire Protection District Board of Directors for Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. was adjourned to Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., for further consideration of item 9. A:
Belmont 2035 General Plan, Belmont Village Specific Plan and Zoning Ordinance Amendments – Implementation of 2023-2031 Housing Element, State law and City Council Direction
Deputy Community Development Director Russell noted that the amendments to the Belmont Zoning Ordinance (BZO) are to meet a state deadline to implement State law and modify development standards in the Corridor Mixed Use (CMU) and Village Station Core (VSC) District.
She stated that the Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of the proposed amendments other than the proposed height increases in the Corridor Mixed Use (CMU) District.
She noted that staff revised the ordinance to remove the height increase language discussed at the January 23, 2024 Council Meeting and the resolution was also revised to include the updated labor policy language. She explained that staff was directed to continue study on the height increase in the CMU District and return to Council for future discussion.
No members of the public came forward to speak.
City Attorney Rennie read the title of the Ordinance.
ACTION: On a motion made by and seconded by Ordinance 2024-1175 Amending Regulations In Belmont Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance No. 360) Sections 5a And 31 To Conform To Certain Provisions Of The City’s 2023-2031 Housing Element And Government Code Section 65583.2 and Amending The Land Use Element Of The 2035 General Plan And The Belmont Village Specific Plan To Implement The 2023-2031 Housing Element and Resolution 2024-06 amending The Land Use Element Of The 2035 General Plan And The Belmont Village Specific Plan To Implement The 2023-2031 Housing Element were approved by a roll call vote (4-1 Latimerlo absent).
