The City reviewed applicable policies, procedures, and recruitment activities to identify any potential obstacles in the City’s hiring process.

The City has identified the following potential obstacles:
• Very competitive job market for specific positions (Police officer, engineer, public sector finance professionals)
• Housing affordability vs long commutes for many entry level positions The City is exploring options to address these obstacles:
• Internships and training programs to “grow” the next generation of the City workforce • Labor negotiations that address workforce priorities
• Flexible work schedules to assist with commute traffic Hiring Issues
