15.A - STUDY SESSION DISCUSSION OF CITY’S WATER RESOURCES AND WATER REUSE (Public Works Director)
Twenty years ago, the City expressed interest in developing a water reuse project. Since then, three potential projects have been developed; each one not advancing to the design phase based on affordability and lack of adequate demand for recycled water. The City is actively seeking grants and business models to make a water reuse project affordable. Meanwhile, the City continues to conserve water and engage in supplemental water purchases during droughts at minimal expense to rate-payers.
This workshop is an opportunity to discuss the City’s water portfolio including potential future sources.
Recommendation:
Hold a study session to receive a presentation by staff, accept public comment, and provide feedback and direction to staff on key topic areas related to the City’s water resources, water reuse, and associated infrastructure.
