Hi this is Mahnaz Dardashti , a resident My concern is regarding people knocking on our doors and checking if we are home or not and then giving us threatening words and saying this is my house, you should get out of my house.
People coming into our properties, and when we call police they say we can’t do anything about it.
Please put this on agenda so we can have some answers tonight.
Thanks.

Dear Beverly Hills council members,
The rise in antisemetic hate crimes has been going on it’s 2nd year at a very alarming rate.
Although it has been on a steady rise for a while, it has gotten significantly worse.
I would love to help fight this anyway I can.
Please advise.

RE: Response to Agenda Item F1, F2 and F3
Thank you for all you are doing to support residents in our quest to ensure a safer city. We appreciate the efforts of the Council and BHPD to increase security to protect the safety of our community. We began to see increased patrols of Nastec in the neighborhood and some additional BHPD cars. Thank you.
After an initial increase in neighborhood surveillance, we no longer see the same presence on our streets. At the same time incidents and non-residents with questionable intent have increased. Residential petty thefts, other burglaries, presumably unhoused individuals confronting residents, antisemitic fliers, and disruption of the cleanliness of our neighborhood has ensued.
These problems are not unique to Beverly Hills and I do not think we can solve them alone.
Clearly the current DA has shown little regard for the laws that seek to protect residents and assure social order. I would therefore support efforts to replace the DA with somebody committed to rational law and order. There was discussion of potentially creating our own City Attorney position. Without serious study, this seems ill advised given our size, much the same concern as I expressed when we were considering our own public health department.
We need to work together to fix the situation, not isolate ourselves.
There clearly are challenges managing the presently unhoused population. This is a society issue, not a City issue. We need to be compassionate toward those who have fallen on hard times during the pandemic and work to provide housing for those without the means and healthcare to those with mental illness. For those with criminal intent, that’s where effective enforcement of our laws is essential. While there is an intersection between the unhoused and criminal activity, let’s be clear: Not all unhoused are criminals and not all criminals are unhoused.
I personally look forward to working with the Council, our wonderful city staff, Committees and Commissions to identify viable solutions to identified challenges. We are clearly stronger together. Best wishes for the New Year.

a disaster with him here, with criminals not being prosecuted, plus criminals being let go before they have paid their time.

________________________________
Dear Mayor Wunderlich and Honorable Members of the City Council, George Gascon is the duly elected District Attorney of Los Angeles County. He campaigned transparently, on a platform that prioritized public safety, criminal justice reform, and racial equity. The election was conducted fairly. The results were clear and undisputed.
Mr. Gascon made no secret of his intentions to eliminate cash bail and sentencing enhancements, and to decline misdemeanor charges against low‐level non‐violent first‐time offenders. Campaigning on these policies, Mr. Gascon was elected by a significant margin.
His policies are popular and they are humane.
Contrary to the fear‐mongering rhetoric of Fox News, frenzied NextDoor message boards, the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and other members of the MAGA class, there is no evidence to suggest that these policies have led (or will lead) to any rise in local crime. In fact, they increase public safety.
So‐called “tough on crime” policies, like those Mr. Gascon and the majority of LA County voters wish to leave in our regrettable past, do NOT deter crime. In fact, violent crime in LA County increased at a rate far outpacing the national average under Mr. Gascon’s predecessor.
“Tough on crime” policies have led to skyrocketing rates of mass incarceration and recidivism. They disproportionately harm Black and Latino families and communities. They prioritize white comfort over Black humanity. They further entrench this council's twin passions — economic inequality and white supremacy.
Under your leadership, the City of Beverly Hills once again finds itself a local outlier. Whereas you may prefer to flood jails with Black people for allegedly committing low‐level municipal violations (see your beloved Rodeo Drive Taskforce that, according to BHPD records, arrested 97% people of color), others seek to reform our broken justice system.
Tragically, in spite of our city employing America’s third‐highest funded police department per capita and multiple unaccountable armed private security firms, violent crime has risen in Beverly Hills. It is also true that violent crime has risen throughout the nation, in communities with district attorneys of all persuasions. Is Mr. Gascon to blame for a nationwide rise in violent crime?
Meanwhile, in Beverly Hills, property crime, theft, and total crime have DECREASED significantly during Mr. Gascon’s tenure, according to BHPD records. To what do you attribute these facts? We vehemently oppose this council's bizarre efforts to contest the ethical and data‐driven criminal justice reforms sought by George Gascon and the voters of Los Angeles County. 2 Thank you for the time and happy new year.

Dear City Officials,
Thank you for Hearing our Concerns.
As a Mother, a Family with small children residing in Beverly Hills for many years we’ve never felt more unsafe and targeted ever in our lives than we do currently.
With so Much Gratitude to our BHPD for all their efforts in keeping us all safe - even so it’s imperative that they receive more overall support more funding, higher salaries for new hiring, and more resources.
At Top Priority is to remove the Disastrous- District Attorney of Los Angeles -Gascon.
There is no greater evil than this desensitized -inhumane person twiddling his thumbs as our community is Openly Targeted by the massive amount of criminals his office (under his orders/leadership) refuse to prosecute.
There is no better way to keep this community flourishing than to remove it from LA county.
I’m adamantly in Favor of pursuing our own district attorney for Beverly Hills.
Please advise us residents~families, ~community stake holders in how we can support and pursue the recall of George Gascon, and establish our own district attorney for Beverly Hills as well as back the BHPD.
Sincerely,

I am deeply saddened by the crime and homeless situation in our city. I hope that as a city, we can come together and remove Gascon. His unilateral policies have had a dire effect on our city. We have an incredible police department that I am grateful for. What is the point of arresting g these criminals and having them back on the streets hours later? The anti semitism is unbearable and beyond disturbing. Unfortunately, my guess is that if we find those that are responsible for the fliers, they will not be held accountable under the new lawlessness created by Gascon.

I would like the city council to consider, debate and support the recall effort of Gascon asap.
We are constantly in a state of fear and things need to change.
Please note that our apartment building was broken into and they almost got into our bedroom through the stairs (the door was barely held together after they used a tool to break the door).
There is an extensive police report and the case is supposedly being investigated (actually, I am sure it will or already has been trashed by Mr. Gascon).

I am requesting that you please vote to support the effort to recall LA District Attorney George Gascon. His policies support the criminals and hurt the law abiding citizens and businesses. Since 10/31/21 compared to 2019, LA Counties homicides are up 74%, aggravated assaults involving a fire arm are up 73%, motor vehicle theft is up 57% and arrests are down 33%! Dear Beverly Hills City Council,
Although I do not reside in Beverly Hills, we can all agree that crime has spiked in most metropolitan areas of California.
It seeps in from one city to another and living on the Westside we are all too familiar with the situation.
Gascon and other DA’s have shown a lack of empathy for law abiding constituents and have favored the criminals for far too long.
We are are all living in fear of being held up in broad daylight, afraid to wear our expensive clothes/jewelry/hangbags and driving our nice cars for fear of being followed and targeted.
It may sound shallow, but now even just dining outdoors with a nice phone makes one a target of robbery.
We walk around with pepper spray and emergency whistles and are hyper aware of our surroundings.
We are tired of feeling bad for the homeless or some nonsensical racial disparity narrative while what we worked hard for our entire lives is being threatened by a leftist District Attorney under the guise of criminal reform.
This is a time for action not feelings.
We shouldn’t apologize for having nice things that we all worked hard for.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
RECALL GASCON.

Hello,
I’d like to share that I strongly feel that Gascon has no place in our city. His policies contributed to an increase in crime and it’s truly a shame. We don’t feel safe in Beverly Hills anymore. We love a block from the police station but feel we have to keep our doors locked all day and night. We used to walk down to have a meal in town but not anymore. We drive to the center of town which is only two blocks from our home. We’re now considering moving to a gated community. This is a shame!

Originally, I wanted to give Gascon a chance. However he has proven that he no longer deserves it. He made no public statements on the smash and grab epidemic, once again indicating his priority is always the criminals, not the victims. In addition, the arrogant way he took over the office - removing everyone with institutional knowledge from his senior staff, replacing them with cronies, and refusing to listen to anyone else shows that he is unwilling to lead, and partner with the community to fight crime.
Thank you for your consideration of my letter.

Hello
As a resident of Beverly Hills for the past 35 years, me and my family are very concerned about some of the safety issues in our city!
First and foremost we need to recall Gascon, it seems that our police are doing a phenomenal job of catching the criminals in our city, but they are catching the same people over and over because under Gascon, the police has to let them go!!!
This must be very frustrating for our amazing Police force, not to mention all the residents who don’t have any peace of mind living in the city!
Secondly, what is being done about the Hate letters that were distributed at some of the private homes in Beverly Hills??
It’s hard to believe that these criminals have not been Pursuit and held accountable to the full extent!! Best regards,

Our beautiful and safe city of Beverly Hills has become completely unsafe. We cannot leave the house without fear of being followed or robbed. Gascon needs to go. It’s absurd that we call in for people committing crimes and the police hands are tied and the criminals are back on the street within a few hours committing the same crimes.
Gascon ruined San Francisco and we are already heading in that direction. We want to feel safe and comfortable again.

Good morning Beverly Hills City Council,
I’m writing do you today to share with you my concerns about living in Beverly Hills. I’ve been a resident of Beverly Hills for 30 years, never have I felt the fear and discomfort I have experienced these last two years. I don’t feel safe walking alone in my neighborhood (something I used to do every morning), I’m not comfortable walking into the shopping district or parking in our city structures, I’m afraid to return to my home alone at night, I prefer not to let my grown children stay home alone…
The absolute worst moment was when the anti‐somatic packets were disseminated in our streets. Never have I felt more unsafe. Never have I contemplated whether the mezuzah on my front door would make me a target of hate. Never would I imagine this to be happening in Beverly Hills.
I truly believe that until every crime small or large is enforced to the full extent of the law (and yes, some laws need to be changed), residence like myself will be left to feel unsafe.
I am asking for my city Council to please support an effort to remove Gascon as the District Attorney of Los Angeles.
Sincerely,
Evelyn Shooshani

I am in support recalling George Gascon not only is he bad for public safety, but he does nothing to protect the public.
Victims deserve better than George Gascon and students under the age of 18 do not feel safe having him in office because of the reasons stated.

It’s about time the city of BH makes a wise decision and recalls Gascon. I have no idea how some of our leaders have been in favor of him. Our crime has spiked and BH has become a target. I’ve been a resident for over 40 years and have never seen the city this bad. Please listen to Lili Bosse and let’s recall Gascon and try to get our own DA if possible for BH and separate as much as possible from L.A. while we recall him! Thanks
Elena

I would have thought that these awful people would have been spotted by some city video cameras in the streets and caught eventually. I am hoping to read about the investigations.…..whoever is doing it must be found. It is sickening.
Beyond comprehension that this happened in Beverly Hills or anywhere in 2021. Yes, I shall join the meeting on TV this Tuesday.
Thank you.

I'm writing to express my frustration with the growing crime im BH and to request the city council to do more to protect its residents with more police patrols and private security.
I have lived here for over two years and we moved out of Santa Monica due to the crime.
Since moving here, we have had our house set on fire in the middle of the night and have had two break in attempts. My house is covered in surveillance cameras and lights, but even those have not completely deterred sketchy individuals who are looking to commit crimes in our neighborhood. I call the police multiple times a week due to people screaming in the night, sketchy individuals hanging around on our street at late hours, or even violent drugged transients in the middle of the day. Many of the people in my neighborhood are elderly and I fear that they could be easy targets, especially with all of the follow-home armed robberies we have recently been experiencing.
In the short term, we absolutely need more patrols. I have cameras on two streets that pick up all of the street traffic at night and I NEVER see a BHPD cruiser patrol or anyone from armed patrol. Criminals need to know that they will not be able to go undetected. While BH has a good reputation for fast police response time, this is no longer enough.
In the long term, I would be in favor of a DA for the city of BH because George Gascon contintinues to make a mockery of the criminal justice system and shows that he is only interested in benefiting the criminals who prey on us, rather than the victims of crime. Unless he can be recalled quickly, this situation will only get worse. Perhaps a new DA for the city of BH would alleviate some of the crime that we are seeing? Police are only part of the equation and Gascon releasing criminals as quickly as they are arrested has to be stopped.
The crime and constant chaos has really made it unenjoyable to live here. At this rate, it will only continue to get more dangerous and I'm concerned for the safety of my family. The death of Jacqueline Avent should have been a wake up call for everyone. Please do something about the crime before more residents are killed.

I ditto what Johnathan Neman said.
Once I called California home for my family and I. Unfortunately since Gascon took office the safety is gone.
It doesn't matter where you live. We constantly have to be on alert in our homes, driving to our homes, sitting in restaurants or any other public area.
The criminals are the good people with many laws protecting them. I feel that in the eyes of Gascon my family and I are the bad people.
If Gascon stays in the office, I will take my family and business to another state with laws to protect my family.
Sincerely
Albert Ganjian
