RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council move to accept the described work with Robertson Industries, Inc., and authorize the City Clerk to record the attached Notice of Completion.
DISCUSSION
The Roxbury Park playground is a heavily used facility. Safety rubber surfaces were showing excessive wear and found to be beyond repair. To maintain a safe, high quality playing surface and remain in compliance with playground safety standards, replacement of safety surfacing was necessary. Construction activity for the replacement of the safety rubber surfaces began in November of 2021.
Construction of the replacement has been completed. The improvements included total replacement of the safety surfacing while maintaining the original code compliance condition of existing play equipment. Staff from Public Works and Community Services inspected the work and are satisfied that all work has been performed consistent with construction documents.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this work is budgeted in Fund 160, Capital Improvement Project No. 00914, Park Facilities Renovation – Roxbury Park.

The total contract amount is $236,860 plus a $23,686 contingency for a total amount of $260,546. There were no change orders issued for this project. The total project cost amounts to $236,860, therefore the contingency amount of $23,686 will be credited back to the original funding source.
The current amount paid on the contract is $225,017, with a retention balance of $11,843 to be paid 35 days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion.
