INTRODUCTION
This report provides a summary of upcoming community engagement opportunities to kick off the grant-funded Clifton Way – Le Doux Road Corridor Mobility Study. DISCUSSION On April 26, 2022, City Council approved an award agreement between the City and Metro to receive $200,000 in grant funding to complete a Feasibility Study for a Bike Boulevard on Clifton Way and Le Doux Road, called the “Corridor Mobility Study.” This project will explore the feasibility of a range of traffic calming and active mobility enhancement options to improve first-mile connections to the future Metro stations and improve livability on residential streets.
Bike Boulevards are shared streets between bicyclists and drivers that often incorporate traffic calming features to make a comfortable active transportation environment and improve quality of life through slower vehicle speeds and less cut-through traffic. Bike Boulevards are not bike lanes and do not impact the number of existing vehicle travel lanes. Both Clifton Way and Le Doux Road received “sharrow” pavement markings in early 2023 and are considered Class III Bike Boulevards.
The first step in the project is to meet with stakeholders to identify a vision for the corridor and understand any issues they hope to address with a potential design. For example, the community will have the opportunity to discuss street features that are important to retain from the existing street design or consider adding as part of the study.
Residents, businesses and other stakeholders are invited to participate in a Community Visioning Workshop on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the La Cienega Park Community Center. The City’s consultant will lead participants in a •

visioning exercise followed by street audits of Clifton Way and Le Doux Road.
Participants will have the option of joining the bicycling audit or the walking audit and will meet back at La Cienega Park after the audits to share their observations with the group.
Stakeholders not able to join the workshop in person are invited to participate virtually via the City’s website www.beverlyhills.org/cliftonledoux and share their experiences traveling on this corridor. Virtual workshop and audit materials will be available on October 15, 2022.
To get the word out about this event, the City is using the following notification strategies: Postcard mailed to approximately 6,900 addresses adjacent to the project corridor bounded by Burton Way to the north, Beverly Drive to the west, Charleville/Gregory to the south and San Vicente Boulevard to the east. Press release. Slide on BHTV. Newspaper ads in the BH Courier, BH Weekly and Beverly Press. Email to Complete Streets / Mobility listserv. Posts on Beverly Hills social media accounts. Presentation at the Metro Purple Line Construction Update meeting. Presentation at the Chamber of Commerce’s Metro Purple Line Section 2 Stakeholders Meeting. Announcement at the September and October Traffic and Parking Commission meetings and inclusion in the staff reports. Next Steps After the Community Visioning Workshop, the project team will review input received in person and virtually to start identifying potential traffic calming and active mobility enhancements in line with the community vision. Options deemed feasible are anticipated to be shared with the public for their feedback in early 2023.
