DISCUSSION
Located within the secure areas on the first floor of the Police Department, the Roll-Call room is a multi-purpose space that is primarily used to conduct a roll call at the start of a shift. Supervisors take attendance of these meetings and communicate pertinent information to officers disseminated from the station’s command. The space is also used for meetings, seminars and as a training room. It is one of the central gathering spaces for police personnel and is in many ways a forum to reflect on the core values of the Beverly Hills Police Department.
To address aging interior finishes and poor lighting of the Roll-Call room, improvements were necessary to bring a brighter, modernized and refreshed design to this room. The improvements included replacing all finishes including walls, floor and ceilings, provided E-8

new lighting as well as capturing an unused adjacent alcove to create a small library niche for the storage and display of books, artifacts and the police emblem.
At the June 21, 2021, meeting, City Council approved a pledge agreement from The Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Foundation to fund the construction of this project.
Roll-Call room improvements have been completed and staff recommends acceptance of the described contract work with BBS Construction, Inc. Staff from Public Works and Community Development Departments have inspected the work and are satisfied that all work has been performed consistent with construction documents.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this project was budgeted through the charitable pledge from Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Foundation in the total amount of $175,000, which includes a base amount of $165,636 and a contingency amount of $9,364. Due to unforeseen site conditions and added scope, three change orders were issued totaling $9,086.80. The total project cost amounts to $174,722.80. The current amount paid on the contract is $165,986.66, with a retention balance of $8,736.14 to be paid 35 days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion.
