INTRODUCTION
On January 21, 2023, the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) provided an update on the Preferential Parking Program during the City Manager’s report.

In October 2020, BHPD procured a new parking citation and permit management system with Data Ticket, Inc. The new parking program is an opportunity to enhance the City’s Preferential Parking Program in providing flexibility, access, and convenience to our residents, visitors, and businesses. The focus is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department’s Preferential Parking Program. This automated system also provides increased security and integration with the Beverly Hills Police Department’s Real Time Watch Center.

Frequently Asked Questions
Included for your review are also the most frequently asked questions/concerns:
1) “I need help signing up”
PD staff provides assistance and enrolls the resident.
2) “I do not want to give my plate”
For residents who qualify for Legacy permits, they do not have to provide a license plate. All others do have to provide their plate. 3) “How do I get a permit for my gardener, guest, therapist, contractor, etc.” Two options: They can purchase Preferential Permits or obtain exemptions as needed for the service workers.
4) “Can I still have my hangtags?”
Residents with permits prior to 2019, qualify for Legacy hangtags. Some parking zones do not qualify for Legacy tags. For example, residents needing daytime and overnight permits do not qualify for Legacy hangtags.

The Beverly Hills Police Department continues to work with residents in order to make this initial transition as smooth as possible. We have coordinated changes in the Data Ticket Inc. website and the message on the Helpline has been updated. Our staff continues to provide exceptional in-person services as we assist the residents of Beverly Hills.

The BHPD Permit Program is active and we are currently issuing courtesy “warning citations” as of March 1, 2023 with the following comments: Your parking permit is now expired and it is time to renew. For assistance, contact BHPD Traffic at 310-285-2500 or email [email protected]. Full enforcement of the program is planned to take effect on April 1, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT
This report is an update to City Council and there is no direct fiscal impact.
