INTRODUCTION
This report provides information and requests City Council acceptance of the contract work indicated below and authorization of the City Clerk to record the Notices of Completion with the Los Angeles County Recorder.
DISCUSSION
Library Roofing Repair and Partial Roof Replacement
The Capital Improvement Project No. 00833, New Roofing Installations on City Buildings, provides for City buildings roofing replacement or major repairs. The library roof was assessed and partial roof replacement and some major repairs were identified as a priority. The improvements replaced approximately 1,100 square feet of the single ply roofing system and repair was performed on an approximately 500 square foot area. The recent February and March rainstorms proved the new work to be watertight and successful.
Staff from the Public Works and Community Development Departments inspected the work and are satisfied that all work performed is consistent with construction documents.
Fire Station Headquarters Chiller Replacement
The Capital Improvement Project No. 00786, provides for long-term replacement of City building major infrastructure systems including, but not limited to, HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical systems. The existing chiller at Fire Station headquarters was original to the building constructed in 1990; the unit had reached the end of its serviceable life and was prioritized for replacement. Unit replacement has been completed and the new chiller will deliver a clean, reliable and energy-efficient network of chilled water to the air handler units.
Staff from the Public Works and Community Development Departments inspected the work and are satisfied that all work performed is consistent with construction documents.
FISCAL IMPACT
Library Roofing Repair and Partial Roof Replacement
Funding for this work is budgeted in Fund 405, Capital Improvements Program No. 00833, New Roofing Installations on City Buildings. The total contract amount is $119,675 which includes a contingency amount of $10,879. Due to added scope for additional repairs, one change order in the amount of $7,509.02 was issued. The total project cost amounts to $116,305.02, thus, a balance of $3,369.98 will be credited back to the original funding source.
The current amount paid on the contract is $110,489.75, with a retention balance of $5,816.02 to be paid 35 days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion.
Fire Station Headquarters Chiller Replacement
Funding for this work is budgeted in Fund 405, Capital Improvement Project No. 00811, Major Building Systems Maintenance and Replacement. The total contract amount is $174,827.52, which includes a contingency amount of $18,731.52. Due to added scope, one change order in the amount of $4,352 was issued. The project cost amounts to $160,448, thus a balance of $14,379.52 will be credited back to the original funding source.

The current amount paid on the contract is $152,425.60, with a retention balance of$8,022.40 to be paid 35 days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion.
