RECOMMENDATION
On June 5, 2023, the City Council Ad Hoc on Commission Standardization (Vice Mayor Lester Friedman and Councilmember Sharona R. Nazarian, PsyD) provided their direction regarding a possible consolidation between the Architectural and Design Review Commissions. This item will be presented to the City Council at a future meeting.
It is recommended that the three commissioners from the Design Review Commission:
Sandra Pressman, Anthony P. Spann and Barry I. Bernstein have their terms extended until the City Council provides formal direction on this matter.
INTRODUCTION
The Beverly Hills Municipal Code (BHMC) 2-2-105(c) states: “a member may serve beyond expiration of that member's term until such time as a successor is appointed.” The terms for Commissioners Sandra Pressman and Anthony P. Spann will conclude on June 30, 2023. Commissioner Barry I. Bernstein had already received an extension with the caveat that if his services were needed beyond June, then the City Council should be informed.
DISCUSSION
This request is to allow the continuance of commission business with the current commissioners in place, until which time the City Council provides their direction on this E-14

matter. All three commissioners have indicated their willingness to continue their terms as recommended.
