I am protesting that
Mayor Gold has cut residents’ comment time at council meeting down from 3 minutes to 1 1/2 minutes. He has also directed the clerk to summarize the content of e-mails rather than read them at the council meetings. Basically, he has shown that he is not interested in what residents have to say.
Please cocuncil members take action !!
Thank you.

I am requesting that this comment be read in full. We are blessed to have caring, active participants in our great City. Please don't shut them up!! I am requesting that you reinstate the 3 minute comment time per citizen who wishes to participate and speak.
Thank you.

please be aware that mr.Gold is not being fair to any citizen of beverly hills...many want to speak and are afraid of being cut off by the person in charge...he is not doing a just and reliable job in his position.
he must listen to the residents...and not be beholden to the builders and developers who come into our beautiful, or once beautiful city.
thank you for reading my comment, joan quinn

Since this is going to be summarized, let me make it easy on you: Booooo!!!! Mayor Gold, you should resign.
Frankly almost all of you should resign.
I’ve always known that the council didn’t care about its residents. At least the portion living south of Sunset. And now as a 30+ year resident recently evicted from a Chapter 5 Rent Control Unit with nothing but lip-service from this council, I can whole-heartedly say: Booooooo!!!
You can’t even pretend to care enough to listen to residents express their 1st amendment rights. Shame on you.
Boooooo!

TO BE READ ALOUD IN ITS ENTIRETY – Not to instead be
summarized or referenced merely as a comment statistic.
Dear Councilmembers –
We strongly object to any reduction or abridgement of our City’s longstanding policy of providing a three minute speaking period for those wishing to address the Council. The public’s right to be heard is not by the Council’s largesse, but by guarantees under both the California Constitution and the Brown Act which you are required to apply, neither of which may be tampered with or deviated from by the Council.
Further, the Council must receive, and be attentive and responsive to public comments. If the Council wishes to conserve public meeting time, it will refrain from the bad decisions which necessitate public objections, protests and outcries. The Council may also schedule additional public meetings, as needed, to administrate the public’s business.
We are happy to discuss any legitimate concerns about the three minute policy which the Council may have, but the Council should make no unilateral determination which would in any way diminish the public’s right to be heard.
You are not here to govern us. The only reason you hold limited, temporary authority (and a rebuttable presumption of good faith), is because Beverly Hills residents and voters - whose interests you are required to serve without conflict – relied upon the representations and promises you made as candidates seeking election. Your authority to represent us can be revoked at any time.
