Subject: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS

AMENDING THE BEVERLY HILLS MUNICIPAL CODE

QUALITY ACT (CEQA)
Attachments: None

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council continue the public hearing of the ordinance to a date uncertain.

BACKGROUND
At their regular meeting of July 13, 2023, the Planning Commission reviewed the draft ordinance that contains amendments to the City’s open air dining regulations and voted (3-1) to recommend the draft ordinance to the City Council for approval. City staff scheduled the draft ordinance for the Council’s review for the meeting on August 15, 2023. The public hearing for the draft ordinance was noticed in the Beverly Hills Courier on July 21, 2023 and the Beverly Hills Weekly on July 27, 2023 in compliance with the City’s public noticing requirements.

However, the City is continuing to develop a guidelines document for parklets. The parklet guidelines will provide standards for the development of permanent parklet dining area installations located within on-street parking spaces. The permanent regulations contained in the parklet guidelines are necessary as the City will wind down parklet authorizations granted through the City’s temporary OpenBH program. Mayor Gold has requested that the hearings for both the draft revised open air dining ordinance and the parklet guidelines occur at the same time.

Meeting Date: August 15, 2023
