Subject: Planning Commission Interview Panel Report
INTRODUCTION
The Planning Commission Interview Panel met on Friday, August 11 to interview 9 (nine) applicants for one upcoming vacancy on the commission. The panel consisted of Vice Mayor Lester J. Friedman, Councilmember Lili Bosse, Planning Chair Gary Ross and Vice Chair Theresa Kaplan.
This report provides information regarding the panel recommendation for the Planning Commission.
DISCUSSION
After discussion and careful review, the panel recommended the following applicant to fill an upcoming vacancy on the commission:
• Lou Milkowski (Term begins: January 1, 2024)
Outgoing Commissioner Peter Ostroff (Term ends: December 31, 2023) Mr. Milkowski must attend all Planning Commission meetings leading up to his appointment. If approved, he will be eligible for an initial two-year term from January 2024 to December 2025.
RECOMMENDATION
The interview panel recommends that the City Council appoint Mr. Lou Milkowski to the Planning Commission. With the concurrence of the Council, a formal report will be prepared for adoption at the September 12, 2023 City Council Regular Meeting.
It is strongly recommended that applicants learn about the roles and responsibilities of the commissions they are applying for before their interviews. Information is available on the City’s website at www.beverlyhills.org. Commissioners are expected to schedule their time accordingly and attend meetings at Beverly Hills City Hall.
