RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends City Council move to approve a Change Purchase Order in the amount of $175,000 with Right of Way, Inc. for the purchase of signage and other materials needed for the installation of street signage for a revised total not-to-exceed amount of $519,652.15.

INTRODUCTION
In February 2021, the Public Works Department initiated a phased introduction of a new daytime street sweeping schedule for all residential streets south of Santa Monica Blvd.

This initiative aimed to deliver street sweeping services more efficiently and consistently.

Concurrently, there is an ongoing program to replace aged or obsolete traffic signs (regulatory, parking, street name, etc.) to ensure that signs are legible, highly visible, and meet current standards.

DISCUSSION
In Fiscal Year 2021/22, Public Works successfully completed Phases 1 through 4 of the Street Sweeping Signage Replacement Project, incurring expenses of $175,000. For the subsequent phases, namely Phases 5 through 10, completed in Fiscal Year 2022/23, an additional sum of $160,652.15 was spent on signage and required materials. The forthcoming and final five phases (11-15) are planned for completion in Fiscal Year 2023/24 and necessitate an added investment of $175,000. Details on the street sweeping schedule changes are available to the public on the City’s official website at www.beverlyhills.org/streetsweeping.

The broader scope of sign replacements and installations, with the combined needs of the street sweeping schedule changes and an aggressive push to catch up on deferred citywide sign replacements, necessitates an increase in the current purchase order. The Public Works Department will be performing the installation using the parts and materials purchased under this Purchase Order.

FISCAL IMPACT
Staff requests the approval of a change purchase order amounting to $175,000, for a total not-to-exceed budget for these projects to $519,652.15.

Funds are available in the approved Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget for Street Sign and Striping CIP–00863.

Director of Public Works
