INTRODUCTION
This report transmits the list of the selected members for the upcoming Team Beverly Hills Program to the City Council. This report is for information only and, unless directed otherwise, staff will proceed with the coordination of the plans as described in this report.
DISCUSSION
The recruitment process for the City’s 25th annual Team Beverly Hills Program began on June 5, 2022 and closed on July 14, 2022.
The City Council selected 30 resident members (six for each Councilmember), four business members, and Beverly Hills High School representatives selected two student participants. An additional 18 members were selected through a random lottery process.
Staff will be contacting all applicants to notify them of their selection status for this year’s program. The attached list provides the names of the 54 members selected for Team Beverly Hills.
Meeting Date: September 19, 2023
If any of the selected Team BH members inform staff they are unable to participate in the program, then staff will coordinate the replacement of this person with someone from the pool of unselected applicants by using one of the two following methods:
1) If the Team BH member was selected through the lottery, then staff will conduct a lottery to replace that person.
2) If the member was selected by a Councilmember then that Councilmember will be able to select someone else for the open spot.
The timeline for the 2023-2024 Team BH program includes:
• A welcome night,
• Nine sessions presented by City Departments and community groups, and • A graduation ceremony.
The various sessions will include demonstrations, workshops, and interactive experiences to help educate Team BH members on the City’s various operations, programs, and opportunities for volunteer involvement.
The sessions will commence in November 2023 and conclude in March 2024. Staff is currently finalizing the program dates and will provide program details and the final session calendar to the selected members.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total available funding for Team Beverly Hills is $20,300.00, which is included in the City Council Fiscal Year 2023-2024 adopted budget for the Policy and Management Department budget (48000105). The funding covers the direct costs associated with the program such as books and materials, office supplies, refreshments, and commemorative items.
The current participation fee is $50.00 per person. The anticipated revenue offset to the program with 54 participants is $2,700.00.
