Good Morning!
Please read commentary below during the Tuesday 7pm City Council meeting. Thank you! Here we are, once again in the midst of saving our environment from another potential disaster. It shouldn’t have to be this difficult. Yet I feel as though my words are falling amongst deaf ears. I feel powerless which is unbearable.

In an American democracy (we still do have a democracy, thank god), the only way for citizens to have power is by allowing their voices to be heard with a VOTE. Therefore, I propose that this dilemma, saving the beautiful ficus trees on Robertson or any other trees in the vicinity which are in jeopardy….should be a voting right for the residents of Beverly Hills, just like any other vital concern. Might I remind the City Council members that it’s the residents who pay your salaries. You actually work for us, remember? So making decisions without the knowledge of the residents is highly unethical and undemocratic. Especially a decision as important to our livelihoods as the environment. This is a VOTING issue. Thank you.

Please, City of Beverly Hills, help us save the wonderful, shady ficus trees that line your sidewalks by being transparent about your actions.

Sincerely,
Robert Borowski=

It is amazing to many of us that instead of resolving the matter involving the trees on Robertson, and instead of dealing fairly and considerately with residents and business owners on Robertson, the council has continued to prolong litigation in which the city has been shown to be wrong, and wasting our city resources to do so.

It seems more important to some of you to get your way, despite the fact that you are wrong, than to do the right thing.

Does the city have to continue to fail us?
When you should know that you are wrong in the first place, and then a judge confirms that, why do you continue to waste our city resources fighting something that you will not win and that you should not win? Darian Bojeaux and Lee Pasternak=
Public Comments 1/23/2024 BH City Council:

My name is Ilan Bialer and I am one of the neighboring
property owners to the L’Ermitage Hotel.

I and several other neighbors wanted to bring up the
L’Ermitage Hotel changes and new entitlements that the
planning commission is sending before the City Council in a couple of weeks.

There will be additional outdoor uses on the ground floor, and a new entirely outdoor bar and restaurant on the roof that will be open to the public.

There were no considerations of sound abatement in the
hotel’s proposal and Planning Committee approvals. I
wanted to inform the City Council that I have been
informed that there are new technologies available for
sound abatement. Things that can make items such as
rooftop a/c units almost silent in operation, and certainly reduce noise from bar and restaurant operations.

Such technology might eliminate noise complaints at new projects. I would request that the City Council direct staff to investigate and inform on these reasonable and realistic sound abatement techniques.

Thank you for your service to the community and
consideration of the residents’ concerns
