RECOMMENDATION
The City Attorney recommends that the City Council approve the amendment to an agreement with Goldman Magdalin Straatsma, LLP (formerly Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP).
INTRODUCTION
The law firm of Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP has changed their name to Goldman Magdalin Straatsma, LLP. This amendment to the City’s legal services agreement with Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP changes the law firm’s name.
DISCUSSION
The City contracts with Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP for special counsel services in the area of workers’ compensation matters. After many years with his firm, Mr. George Krikes has decided to retire and Mr. Derek Straatsma has taken his place. Mr. Krikes was not working on any City matters, but Mr. Straatsma has been providing services to the City. Therefore, as of February 21, 2024, the firm has changed their name from Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP to Goldman Magdalin Straatsma, LLP. The City desires to continue to receive services pursuant to the agreement. There are no other changes to the agreement.

This amendment will have no fiscal impact on the City.

CERTAIN WORKERS’ COMPENSATION MATTERS
This Amendment No. 1 is to that certain Agreement between the City of Beverly Hills, a Municipal Corporation (hereinafter “City”) and Goldman Magdalin Straatsma (formerly Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP), (hereinafter “Attorney”) dated June 27, 2023 and identified as Contract No. 324-23 (“Agreement”).
RECITALS
A. City and Attorney entered into a written agreement for special counsel services related to certain workers’ compensation matters.
B. Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP, has changed their firm name effective February 21, 2024. The new firm name is Goldman Magdalin Straatsma, LLP.
C. City desires to continue to receive special counsel litigation services and Attorney desires to continue to provide services pursuant to the Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows:
Section 1. All references to Goldman, Magdalin & Krikes, LLP in the Agreement shall be replaced with Goldman Magdalin Straatsma, LLP.
Section 2. “Attorney” shall be amended to mean Goldman Magdalin Straatsma, LLP.

Section 3. Except as specifically amended by this Amendment No. 1, the remaining provisions of the Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
