RECOMMENDATION
This report requests a one-time waiver for applicants to apply to more than one commission vacancy during this current recruitment cycle.

INTRODUCTION
The City Council Liaison Commission Standardization Committee (Vice Mayor Sharona R. Nazarian, PsyD and Councilmember Craig A. Corman) met on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. As part of the discussion, the committee recommended that a one-time waiver be granted to applicants so that they may apply to multiple openings for this cycle.

The City Clerk’s Office has received a limited number of applications from qualified Beverly Hills residents. With the exception of the Rent Stabilization Commission which is on hold, the department continues to recruit for open commission positions, with a new deadline of Friday, June 14, 2024.

DISCUSSION
The City Council Liaison Commission Standardization Committee met to discuss concerns about the current recruitment process. Per the City’s Commissioner Handbook, “applicants may apply to only one (1) commission per application cycle.” The recommendation in this report requests a one-time waiver from the City Council.
