In November 2023, a traffic collision caused extensive damage to the traffic signal pole on the southwest corner of South Santa Monica Boulevard (SSM Boulevard) and Rodeo Drive requiring immediate removal of the pole for public safety. On May 17, 2024, a change order was executed in the amount of $45,061.95 with Crosstown Electrical & Data, Inc. to install a new concrete foundation, conduit and pull box; assemble and stand the traffic signal pole; and to restore the adjacent concrete sidewalk. On August 19, 2024, a change order was executed in the amount of $10,649.75 with Crosstown Electrical & Data, Inc. to upgrade pedestrian push buttons to a touchless model to make the crossings more user friendly to pedestrians and accommodate extra excavation work due to unmarked utilities. The total change order work completed for this project amounted to $55,711.70. Public Works Engineering Division staff inspected all the work and is satisfied that the work was completed according to the contract documents approved for this project.

FISCAL IMPACT
The original construction contract purchase order (which included a contract amount of $371,866 plus a $37,187 contingency amount) was $409,053. The added budget for the traffic signal work at Rodeo Drive and SSM Boulevard increased the total purchase order to $459,053.
