INTRODUCTION
This item is submitted for City Council information. Since 2006, the City has held an annual all employee training and development day, which is observed on Columbus Day which is also known as Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This year, the Innovation’s Day event will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024.

DISCUSSION
The theme of this year’s event is “Beverly Hills Voices, Building Resilient Teams”.

Employees will attend a keynote address and will then have the opportunity to participate in various team building and resilience focused sessions.

The individual providing the keynote address is Andrew Hill, a motivational speaker, executive coach, and author who offers a values-based framework for life success and happiness that he learned as a student and player for the late UCLA Basketball Coach, John Wooden. Since 2000, Mr. Hill has been inspiring audiences and organizations with his practical lessons for achieving success. During an informative and inspiring presentation, Mr. Hill connects emotionally with his audiences by skillfully blending Coach Wooden’s lessons and techniques with a common-sense approach to business that everyone can focus on to enhance the performance of their organization. After graduating from UCLA with a Master’s Degree in Education and a B.A. in Psychology, Mr. Hill began his entertainment career as an accomplished movie and television producer at Columbia Pictures Television. From 1991 through 1996, he was the president of CBS Productions where he led the development and production of programming owned by the network. While at CBS, he oversaw some of the most acclaimed and successful primetime shows of the decade. Following his tenure at the network, Mr. Hill served as President of Programming for Channel One News, where he produced award-winning series and online content for an audience of eight million teens.

The 2024 Innovation’s Day event will be held in the Wallis Annenberg Bram Goldsmith Theater and various locations throughout the City’s Civic Center. As in past years, City Hall will be closed from 7:30 am – 2:00 pm. City Hall will re-open for business at 2:00pm.
