During the November 21, 2024, Rodeo

into major development projects under construction
and the traffic impacts they may have on or near
the Los Angeles Marathon race route.

Both projects near the race route are detailed
below.

Rosewood Residences
The project on South Santa Monica Blvd and
Charleville Blvd should be completed by March
2025. All the barricades and street paving work are
expected to be complete well before Sunday,
March 16, 2025. Staff do not anticipate any
obstructions from the project impacting the Los
Angeles Marathon race route.

barricades and traffic control equipment in place on
Sunday, March 16, 2025, but the marathon does
not go through the closure area and race route
should not be impacted. City staff will advise
contractors and will work with the Los Angeles
Marathon team to ensure that there are minimal
impacts to residents and community.

Traffic Control Plan The street closures would be managed and implemented by a professional traffic control
company hired by The McCourt Foundation.

Traffic control plans must be approved by the City
Traffic Engineer prior to the event.

Beverly Hills Police will ensure street closure traffic control equipment is set up properly and according
to the approved plan.

Fire Lane Per standard with all street closures, a fire lane must be maintained at all times. The site plan
showing the fire lane must be approved by the
Beverly Hills Fire Marshal prior to the event.

Fee Waiver Requested No fee waivers requested.

Charitable Solicitations The McCourt Foundation is on a mission to help find a cure for neurological diseases and will follow
all conditions of the Charitable Solicitations permit.

Since the nonprofit partnership began, TMF has
raised over $70 million to benefit over 100 nonprofit
community partners.

lead agency for the duration of the entire event for all Beverly Hills needs.

Emergency
Operations
Center/Mobile
Command Center
This large scale special event necessitates an
activation of the City’s Emergency Operations Center
(EOC).

The EOC will be staffed with key personnel from
multiple departments.

The EOC serves as a central location for Citywide
emergency response and recovery activities during a
large-scale incident/special event.

The EOC and City Public Information Officer will
notify community stakeholders (Beverly Hills Unified
School District, local hospitals, and the business
community) of potential impacts before/during/after
the event.

Beverly Hills Police and Fire will have liaisons present at the LA Marathon Emergency Operation Center in
downtown Los Angeles which allow for Police and
Fire to swiftly run tactical and traffic operations with all involved agencies. The LA Marathon EOC will work in
conjunction with the Beverly Hills EOC.

Insurance The City’s Risk Manager recommends requiring
General Liability Insurance of at least $2 million per
occurrence, naming the City of Beverly Hills as an
additional insured as a requirement to be provided by
The McCourt Foundation.

Notification and
Marketing
The City will send out Citywide Announcements, Nixle
Alerts, Everbridge Robo Calls, post on all social
media platforms and will place ads in local papers
notifying the Beverly Hills community of the street
closures, as well as maintain an event webpage
providing the public with the most up to date
information and staff a hotline number on event day.

Letters of notifications will be provided throughout the city, which will include information for residents,
businesses, churches, and temples along the race
route.

Public Works Transportation Division will notify Metro
and Tour Buses to coordinate alternate routes.

Traffic Control Officers will have postcards on hand

with them at different posts surrounding the event
area. The postcards provide a map, hotline number
and event webpage to pass out to drivers and walkers
needing specific information of closures and alternate
routes.

Partner Support and
Public Comment
Letters of support have been received (Attachment 3).

As a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce,
The McCourt Foundation will continue to work with
the Chamber to create ways to support local
businesses while event staff and event guests are in
the city.

FISCAL IMPACT
No fee waivers are requested. The McCourt Foundation is responsible for all related expenses including, but not limited to: City permits, street closures and/or street use fees, City personnel, traffic control plan and equipment, broadcast, event fees and any other costs associated with the marathon.

Operating as a nonprofit 501(c)(3), TMF would receive, according to the City’s Schedule of Fees, a nonprofit rate on the street closures for the event, as it benefits local health related causes and programs throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area.

As standard with all permit issuance practice, all fees should be paid in full prior to the event date.

Fees will be charged based on the current fiscal year 2024/25 fee schedule.

Council Liaisons
City of Beverly Hills

Dear Councilmembers:

I hope this letter finds each of you well.

The 2024 Los Angeles Marathon was safely conducted, and the biggest and best event production we’ve had since moving the Marathon’s finish line to Century City\Santa Monica Blvd. four years ago. On behalf of all involved, thankyou for the City’s continued support and enthusiasm for the Los Angeles Marathon. For 15 years now, we have developed and maintained an outstanding relationship with the city’s team in Beverly Hills. This relationship has been based on trust, hard work, problem solving, and commitment to the Beverly Hills community and our participants. We look forward to continuing this outstanding track record of success in 2025 and beyond.

The 2024 race saw over 20,000 finishers and was the second largest in the history of the race. Only the 35th Anniversary race in 2020 was larger. The 2025 edition marks our 40th Anniversary and will be punctuated by special celebrations and media coverage. We expect about the same number of participants as in 2024.

The 2025 Marathon date is March 16, 2024. The racecourse, including the section through Beverly Hills, the race start time, and timing of the race traversing Beverly Hills are identical to the 2024 Marathon. No Changes. Our community outreach program to Beverly Hills residents and business will also be the same as last year supplemented by any additional requests from city staff.

The 1.8 miles of Marathon course that passes through the City of Beverly Hills is a critically important part of the Marathon experience. The Beverly Hills course section, including Rodeo Drive, is iconic and an ideal local, national, and international spotlight for Beverly Hills’ signature style and renowned businesses. Rodeo Drive is routinely and overwhelmingly voted “Favorite Landmark” by participants over the entire 26.2-mile course, and one of the driving factors many choose to participate in the Marathon. The Beverly Hills section is always a point of media focus for our directed media.

The Marathon annually raises around $4M to support nearly 100 mostly local causes including Connecting To Cure Crohn’s and Colitis and Tower Cancer Research Foundation in Beverly Hills. Last year the Marathon donated $1M+ in goods and services to grade school and high school programs through our partnerships with LAUSD and Students Run LA. The McCourt Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit with the mission striving to cure neurological diseases while empowering communities to build a healthier world.

To further support our city partners, we are working, and will continue to work with, the city and the Chamber of Commerce to highlight Beverly Hills businesses and attractions in our broadcast programming through our partnership with KTLA, and to our entire database and online social community. As proud members of the Chamber, we will continue to expand that relationship and provide opportunities to increase visibility of local businesses and offer a point of economic development.

Thank you for your tremendous support in making the 2024 Los Angeles Marathon a huge success. We look forward to further build on our partnership and its successful future! Sincerely,
Murphy Reinschreiber

Dear Honorable Mayor Friedman and Members of the City Council:

The Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce writes to you in support of the Los Angeles Marathon in 2025 and including the proposed route through Beverly Hills.

The Los Angeles Marathon is an important community event that brings positive attention to Beverly Hills. The organizers of the Marathon have been good partners with the City and partner agencies, including the Chamber, and we look forward to a positive and mutually beneficial relationship in the coming year as well.

The Chamber encourages the Marathon to work to minimize disruption to traffic and businesses, especially considering the existing construction of the LA Metro D Line Subway, as well as to follow proper safety protocols for all participants and attendees. We are confident that the involved parties can work together to continue the Marathon's run of excellence.

Sincerely,
