accountable and those representatives not taking responsibility for their actions.

Third, and to make things worse, you are actually counter-suing to recover legal fees from Dupont Clinic which would be devastating for them financially. I can't even get my brain around how despicable this action is in its lack of integrity.

I'm done numbering this email. I'm just a regular person who almost every day now is in disbelief that this is the United States. It's truly surreal the lack of empathy and just the complete lack of common decency that so many have decided to embrace. And it is a decision.

You all have made this decision to cave to a few extremist anti-abortion dipshits. How many examples of their hypocrisy does it take to make it clear that they don't care about babies, or women, or anything except their own narrow-minded beliefs? That was a rhetorical question.

Access to women's reproductive healthcare is shrinking all over the country and it's getting worse. Dupont Clinic serves people in dire need of their services. Please settle with Dupont Clinic and please release Dupont Clinic from reimbursement of your legal fees. I mean Jesus Christ, it's literally the least you can do.

Sincerely,
Robert Tessel

To the Honorable City Council Members:

It’s been over two years since the citizenship of Beverly Hills has spoken out asking you to undo the harm you have done to the Dupont Clinic. The fact that you have not settled has brought irreparable harm to Beverly Hills from both the left and the right. As an example, I have attached a video and photo of a person who was recently in front of my home trying to instigate a fight. Our so-called “Jewish” city caving to far-right Christian Nationalists to close an abortion clinic has just opened the doors to more and more people knowing that Beverly Hills is the weakest link to democracy in a deep blue county and state. Additionally, you are wasting taxpayer money, aren’t there already enough lawsuits against the city that require your attention?
Frankly I’m surprised, since some of you are attorneys, that you broke the law by interfering with a legal contract for a legal business. However, now that we have gotten this far, why are you trying to bankrupt a legal, necessary business instead of just ending this debacle? It appears you have enough money to fund frivolous things like the Judy Chicago artwork, you can let this go and find a solution.

What about trying to find a compromise and find a stand-alone building for the Dupont Clinic in Beverly Hills? I understand that the city is the largest real estate holder in Beverly Hills. A new, city owned location would absolve you of any wrongdoing with the State and show people that Beverly Hills upholds the laws of the land and of California. Your citizens would forgive you a moment of indiscretion. A nice area might be near the dog park on Foothill or someplace on Olympic Boulevard, not central but accessible. Women need healthcare in a safe, private environment.

You may personally believe that late term abortions are unnecessary, however after sitting through hours of testimony at city council meetings, how could you not understand why there is a need for this specialized care? Women aren’t going to this type of clinic because at 28 weeks they’ve changed their minds, it’s because the fetus is not viable or worse, it’s already dead. In Texas women are dying from carrying non-viable pregnancies without access to this type of care. I assume most of you are parents and even grandparents. I can’t help but wonder what you think is going to happen to your daughters, daughter-in-laws, granddaughters if something like this happens to them? Who will provide medical care for them? Will you watch them die on a gurney or in the car because a hospital won’t treat them or doesn’t have the skills to give this type of care? Personally, I’m not prepared to see this happen to my daughter. Again, women need healthcare in a safe, private environment, that was what the Dupont Clinic was set to provide.

It is the City’s job to protect all the legal people and businesses in this community, no matter what. With the Dupont Clinic actions you have politicized your jobs and this city into an untenable place. All of you are complacent is making this city unlivable because the doors are now open to extremists who don’t even live in Beverly Hills or even LA County. In the end it will affect your branding and the fallacy that Beverly Hills is an idyllic place to be.

You may even end up with death on your hands, can you live with this? We will work with you to solve the problems, but you are required to be engaged and to take what’s happening seriously. I urge you to talk with your citizens and try to find a solution that works for both the city and the community, working together will make us stronger. Meet with Beverly Hills for Choice, form a committee, find a solution. This is what’s best for everybody. Your citizens are volunteering their time to make this end well in the best interests of Womenkind and Beverly Hills.

I leave you with this:

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me
Sincerely,
Lucy Stutz

residents and businesses, promoting fear of anti-choice terror and protests, is to betray your neighbors seeking important health and medical services.

I am demanding that you fight for the people of Beverly Hills, to stand with them as they seek the fundamental medical care they deserve and require. I am demanding that you not just allow but actively welcome the Dupont Clinic to this city, as they provide invaluable assistance to your constituents. I am demanding that you not back down in fear, pointlessly kowtowing to a specter of terror.

I am demanding that you settle with Dupont, that you release them from the recovery of legal fees. Allow them to find an alternate location so they can become a valued member of the community. Fight for the city’s women and families. I demand nothing less. - Kyle Smith

At the very least, I implore you to rescind your action where the Council is demanding that Dupont reimburse your legal fees. This demand appears to be almost anti-reproductive rights by wanting money from an organization that supports women having access to care. Shameful.

Although I do not live in Beverly Hills, I will certainly be limiting any business dealings in your city and will let all that I know to do the same.

Do the right thing unless of course you want to continue with your anti-women "legacy"
Sincerely,
Judi Sherman

To the honorable members of the Beverly Hills City Council:

I am dismayed over your handling of the DuPont Clinic situation, and urge you to settle with them. I don’t understand why you’re siding with extremists who don’t even live in the state. (And, as a child of Holocaust survivors, I am especially disgusted with their name, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust.) The Attorney General has already said that the city’s actions violated the law, and yet your council refuses to be held accountable. Please, change your stance, allow the clinic to open, and do not pursue legal fees, which would crush them financially and would amount to de facto closure.

The council has bravely stood up and claimed Beverly Hills as a city where a woman has a right to choose after the Dobb’s decision. Please, follow up that stand with actual action.

Support women, support DuPont, and send the extremists packing. Our city deserves no less.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Rosen

and abortion. Don't let Beverly Hills be one of those cowardly local governments.

I have lived in the area for more than 40 years. I have long eaten at Beverly Hills restaurants and have shopped at department stores, luxury stores, and small businesses. I am so disgusted by the actions to stop Dupont that I intend to curtail any expenditure of my money in the City of Beverly Hills until this is resolved in a way that supports women's health and shows courage in the face of extremists and an absurd lawsuit.

Please do your jobs!

On the subject of the City’s litigation with DuPont Abortion Clinic, I urge the Council to please forgive the legal fees sought from the clinic as recompense. The clinic provides vital reproductive health services at its flagship location and is under financial duress.

Women’s rights are being eroded in Washington along with minority rights more generally. We are far removed and in a state known for championing human rights, but if we do not stand up for them now we will eventually suffer as well - our own Governor is now tacking alarmingly right and having friendly chats with the likes of Steve Bannon.

Finally, consider that President Zelenskyy was recently turned away from the White House when he visited to sign a peace framework, and as part of the White House’s justification he was berated for not wearing a suit. Too many women can tell you they too have been denigrated for what they were wearing or not wearing, and often as justification for abuse. This is a fairly small instance of the failure to defend the rights of some affecting a greater group, but it will be far from the last if we do not defend all our communities.

Please have mercy on DuPont - all the gold in California is in Beverly Hills, women shouldn’t have to go elsewhere for reproductive healthcare.

Thank you,

Councilmembers:

I understand the City is seeking to recoup legal fees from a retaliatory anti-SLAPP case brought against DuPont Clinic, a Washington D.C. based abortion clinic that is already in financial distress. Please consider how it looks for a major Californian city to impede women’s access to reproductive care in the current national political climate, and more importantly, what the consequences may be for everyone when the rights of one group are allowed to be eroded.

Consider that President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, a man, was recently very vehemently and very publicly shamed for what he was wearing or not wearing, and disgracefully turned away from the White House without the opportunity to sign a deal for support against Russia’s invasion. This is a frivolous trope applied to women from time immemorial to justify abuse and harassment, now being used to effect against one of the most powerful men in the world.

Maybe it seems far fetched to think men’s reproductive and bodily rights may be likewise infringed upon, such as in the fictional Handmaid’s Tale. But wasn’t what happened to Zelenskyy unthinkable too just months ago? Wasn’t it unthinkable that the Department of Health would disavow and undermine vaccination programs, leading to the first deaths of infants from measles in ten years?
Please. Show some mercy to DuPont and reach an amiable settlement as BHforChoice and hundreds of others are petitioning, so that they may continue their critically important work for women, and so that extremists such as Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust will know the City defends the rights of all people. Don’t let it be said years from now, “First they came for women, and I helped.”
Respectfully,
Charles Lusher

Beverly Hills City Council - as Los Angeles and Beverly Hills residents - we demand you settle fairly with DuPont and release DuPont from their obligation to repay the city's legal fees for their countersuit. Reproductive health care is essential !!!

remaining states that give citizens the personal freedom to make those medical decisions.

We need clinics and medical facilities that help residents access reproductive healthcare here in southern California.

This changes my view of Beverly Hills, I thought they respected reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy!
The city’s actions make it less likely for me to visit Beverly Hills for any future voluntary medical procedures of any kind.

I ask, as a resident of Los Angeles County, to please support clinics like Dupont, we need access to reproductive healthcare!

Los Angeles, CA

thank you for your time,

the City refuses to be accountable and is instead seeking to punish law abiding residents in favor of outside agitators.

The City claims to support reproductive freedom. If you support reproductive freedom why are you limiting access to care? Why does the City refuse to support and protect this clinic's right to operate in Beverly Hills? If the City sincerely supports reproductive freedom and reproductive healthcare, the City Council must follow its convictions with actions.

When the Supreme Court issued its ruling on the Dobbs Decision, which overturned Roe v.

Wade, the City Council issued a proclamation in support of reproductive freedom, and lit up City
Hall in pink. Why are you abandoning women when you can make positive change instead of a palliative gesture?
Even in states where abortion is legal, access is diminishing due to local governments who circumvent the state's guarantee of access to reproductive healthcare and abortion. Don't let Beverly Hills be one of those cowardly local governments.

Dupont Clinic serves people in dire need of reproductive healthcare.

Support people who need access to safe healthcare in California, and not religious zealots who would force their own personal beliefs into our bedrooms.

Send a message: Beverly Hills does not cave to extremists.

Thank you,

just for the women who rely on access to safe reproductive healthcare, but for the long-term health and vitality of the city itself.

The far-right has a destructive influence on everything it touches. Please don’t let Beverly Hills fall victim to its divisive agenda. A city like Beverly Hills, a gem of modernity and culture, deserves to remain a beacon of progress and freedom, not become a reflection of the backwards, oppressive nightmare the far-right seeks to impose.

Sincerely,
Brooke Bastinelli

extremism.

You failed to stand up for the rule of law.You failed in your legal responsibility to protect a reproductive health clinic. You failed to tell the truth. You listened to the concerns and lies of nonresidents and extremists and ignored a respected and dedicated medical doctor as well as the concerns of your own citizens. You failed in moral leadership.

I am asking you to have the courage to do the right thing.I am asking you take accountability for the mistakes made by this city and its leadership past and present.

Be a role model for the rest of the country.

Restore faith in governance. Resolve this situation fairly with DuPont Clinic.

Dear City Council
I wish to reiterate my caution about diluting the health focus, currently a major part of the health & safety commission. I won’t repeat my remarks of November 18 but can make them available again.

We live in a time now where our federal government appears to abdicate its responsibility for public health with loss of staff and leadership at the CDC, USAID and other agencies. Pullback on messaging and education caused measles to reemerge after it was eradicated only a few years ago. These changes are forcing responsibility on local governments. It was only a few years ago when, as a new commissioner, then Mayor Mirisch called me for guidance on COVID. Health issues ebb and flow. It appears we may be in the calm before the storm.

Please make sure if you dilute the health focus of our commission structure at this critical time that you make provisions for resident expert input to quickly respond to emerging health crises that appear to be on the horizon.
