INTRODUCTION
This report provides information and requests City Council’s acceptance of contract work indicated below and authorization of the City Clerk to record the Notices of Completion (Attachments 1-2) with the Los Angeles County Recorder.

DISCUSSION
La Cienega Park Restrooms Improvement Project
The La Cienega Park Restroom Building was originally constructed in 1980. The restrooms had no significant improvements since the building was originally built. The facility includes multi-stall men’s and women’s restrooms. To address the aging condition of the finishes and fixtures, the improvements included replacing existing toilet partitions, countertops, sinks, faucets, washroom accessories, floor and ceiling surfaces, lighting fixtures as well as repairing and refinishing damaged exterior wall surfaces. The improvements also include upgrades to provide compliance with current ADA requirements.

The project was completed in mid-March and has been inspected by the departments of Community Development, Community Services and Public Works, and staff are satisfied that the project has been constructed in accordance with permitted documents and complies with all applicable codes.

Fire Station No. 2 Ventilation Upgrades Project
Fire Station No. 2 was originally constructed in 1981. As part of the ongoing maintenance of the facility, a need was identified to replace major components of the building’s ventilation system by replacing existing exhaust fans, which had reached beyond their useful life.

The ventilation system at this fire station consists of one exhaust fan that feeds the apparatus bay and two exhaust fans that feed the restrooms and showers. Exhaust fans are particularly essential for removing carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and diesel particulates at the apparatus area.

The work included replacement of the building’s existing exhaust fans with new energy efficient units, and the work also included the installation of a new carbon monoxide detection system. The new carbon monoxide detection system is connected to the City’s Building Management System (BMS) so that it can be monitored 24/7. This new system provides an energy efficient, low maintenance and reliable ventilation system.

The project has been inspected by the departments of Community Development and Public Works, and staff are satisfied that the project has been constructed in accordance with permitted documents and complies with all applicable codes.
