Subject: Request for City Council to Consider Cancelling the Tuesday, November 4, 2025 Meeting Due to a Statewide Special Election Attachments: None
INTRODUCTION
On August 21, 2025, California State Governor Gavin Newsom announced a special statewide election for Tuesday, November 4, 2025. This is the same day as the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

DISCUSSION
This report is a request for the City Council to consider cancelling the Tuesday, November 4, 2025 City Council Meeting due to the statewide special election taking place on the same day.
Historically, the City Council has avoided holding meetings on Election Day to the logistical challenges it creates. With the anticipated high voter turnout at City Hall, it would be especially difficult to manage both a City Council meeting and the election on the same day.
A replacement date has not been proposed since City Council meetings are already scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 and Wednesday, November 12.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff requests City Council consideration and direction on the meeting date cancellation of Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
