RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council appoint Anthony (Tony) Krantz and Roxana Rastegar to the Arts and Culture Commission to fill scheduled vacancies on the commission.
If approved, both will be appointed for an initial two-year term based on the terms provided. They will also be eligible for reappointment to a second term of four years per Beverly Hills Municipal Code Section 2-2-105. Both midyear appointments will follow the July rotation schedule as outlined in the Commissioners’ Handbook.
INTRODUCTION
This report presents a formal request to the City Council to appoint the following to the Arts and Culture Commission for the terms provided:
• Anthony (Tony) Krantz (Term: October 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027) 1 Former Commissioner Liliana Filipovic (Term end: June 30, 2026) • Roxana Rastegar (Term: October 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027) Former Commissioner Deborah Frank (Term end: December 31, 2024) 1 After being reappointed to an additional four-year term, Former Commissioner Liliana Filipovic’s seat became vacant due to an unplanned departure effective June 30, 2024.

DISCUSSION
Staff presented the Arts and Culture Commission Interview Panel report to the City Council at the Study Session of September 30, 2025. The two candidates will begin serving on October 1, 2025.
Their initial terms will be three months shorter due to midyear appointments, which align with the July 1 commission term start date.
This action will approve the appointment presented to the City Council at this meeting.
