Subject: Closure and Adjusted Operating Hours for the Beverly Hills Public Library for the October 7th Memorial Site Dedication taking place on October 5, 2025

INTRODUCTION
On October 5, 2025, the City Council will host the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent October 7th memorial in the Beverly Hills Public Library, and commemorate the anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attack in Israel.
DISCUSSION
Due to the set up and timing for the groundbreaking ceremony, staff has recommended closing the Library for the full day on Sunday, October 5, 2025, and adjusting the operating hours of the Beverly Hills Public Library on Saturday, October 4, and Monday, October 6, 2025. The Beverly Hills Public Library would be open to the public from 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 until 6:00p.m., be closed for the full day on Sunday October 5, 2025, and open to the public at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, to avoid any interruptions and major impact to the Library patrons.
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impacts of the late opening are difficult to project as there is no way of knowing who may show up to pay for fines, though patrons paying fines could return at a later time to pay such fines.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council receive and file this update regarding the closure of the Beverly Hills Public Library on Sunday, October 5, 2025 and adjusted operating hours on Saturday, October 4
th and Monday October 6th
