INTRODUCTION
The Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study, funded by Metro’s Transit Oriented Communities Technical Assistance Program, is exploring the feasibility of traffic calming devices along Clifton Way and Le Doux Road to reduce vehicle speeds and minimize cut-through traffic to improve livability for residents and create a more comfortable route for people walking and biking. The Clifton-Le Doux corridor is identified as a high priority in the Complete Streets Action Plan, as well as Metro’s First/Last Mile Plans for Sections 1 and 2/3 of the D (Purple) Line Extension.

BACKGROUND
On November 1, 2021, staff submitted a grant application for the Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study, and, on January 31, 2022, Metro notified the City that the application had been approved for the maximum amount of $200,000. The grant-funded portion of the project concluded in December 2024. Work completed to date is listed in Table 1 below.

February-April 2025 Installed modifications to extended demonstration August-October 2025 Collected post-modification traffic data and distributed community survey

DISCUSSION
At the November 19, 2024, Study Session meeting, staff presented the results of the six-month demonstration. Traffic data revealed a reduction in maximum vehicle speeds on Clifton Way from 45-50 MPH to 35-40 MPH, a modest reduction in neighborhood-wide traffic volumes of

1.2%, and mixed results on stop sign compliance. Generally, the community favored traffic circles over curb extensions, but there were varied opinions about next steps, including potential modifications and upgrades to permanent materials (Attachment 1). City Council provided direction to extend the demonstration for an additional six months after making modifications to address community feedback.

From February through April 2025, the City installed the following modifications:
 Narrowed the curb extensions at Clifton/Hamel;
 Replaced the curb extensions with a traffic circle at Clifton/Willaman;  Removed the curb extensions at Clifton/Carson; and
 Added centerline striping at all intersections with a traffic calming device to help drivers enter the correct lane and minimize crossing over into oncoming traffic.

Additionally, at the request of the City Council, staff deployed an educational campaign concurrent with the modifications to teach drivers how to navigate a traffic circle. The graphics shown in Attachment 2 were displayed on signs at the approaches to the three traffic circles, on BHTV, on social media, and in the Backbone newsletter mailed with utility bills. As part of this educational campaign, the City also installed arrow markings within the intersection around the Clifton/Le Doux traffic circle to observe whether it improved driver understanding.

Traffic Data
To evaluate whether the project modifications impacted the goals of reducing vehicle speeds and cut-through traffic and increasing stop sign compliance, additional traffic data was collected after the changes were made.

Speeding
As shown in Table 2, maximum vehicle speeds on Clifton Way lowered since installation of the modifications. Overall, since installation of the project, the maximum speeds dropped from 45- 50 MPH to 30-35 MPH. As higher vehicle speeds are more likely to result in fatal and severe injury collisions, a reduction in maximum speeds has the potential to significantly improve safety and livability.

The continued reduction may be partially due to the modifications, specifically the addition of a traffic circle at Clifton/Willaman. This traffic circle is located at approximately the midpoint of the Meeting Date: December 9, 2025

Page 3 of 7 ends

corridor, creating a consistent and frequent visual barrier throughout the entire corridor.

However, it is also possible that speeds continued to decrease as a result of the project being in place for a longer period of time, giving more time for drivers to adjust to the changes and for traffic patterns to stabilize.

Traffic Volume
As shown in Table 3 below, traffic volumes have increased by 7% since the modifications were made in spring 2025 and by 5% since the project was initially installed in spring 2024. Several reasons may have contributed to this increase, including minimizing the impact of the curb extensions, an eastbound lane closure on Wilshire Boulevard for Metro construction during data collection, and an overall increase in vehicle miles traveled in the Los Angeles area as the economy continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and return-to-office mandates have reduced telecommuting.

According to the national transportation research non-profit, TRIP, vehicle travel in California dropped by as much as 41% in April 2020 and by 2025, vehicle miles traveled in California had rebounded to 5% below 2019’s pre-pandemic levels1. Additionally, according to the Nationwide Office Building Index, nationwide office visits in commercial buildings increased 8.3% between June 2024 and June 20252. Considering that Beverly Hills and the surrounding areas are major employment centers, it is possible that without this project, traffic volumes in the neighborhood may have increased by even more than 5% since project installation.

Stop Sign Compliance
Prior to the modifications, there was no consistent change in stop sign compliance among the six intersections. However, as shown in Table 4, after the modifications, there was a slight decrease in rolling stops and not stopping at all, as well as a slight increase in complete stops at most intersections.

As shown in Table 5, since installation of the original project in 2024, not stopping at all decreased slightly at all intersections. Additionally, complete stops increased at all intersections, with exception to Clifton/Le Doux, which had a higher proportion of rolling stops. While staff observed that the arrow markings within the intersection appeared to help drivers follow the correct counterclockwise travel pattern, they did not appear to help increase stop sign compliance. It is possible that because this intersection experiences higher traffic volumes than other intersections along the corridor due to its proximity to La Cienega Boulevard, frustrated drivers may attempt to enter the intersection before oncoming traffic by not coming to a complete stop.

While the results for most intersections seem promising, more data over a longer period of time is needed to determine if the traffic calming devices will have a lasting positive impact on stop sign compliance.

Collisions
There were two reported collisions that occurred on Clifton Way since installation of the modifications; both were unrelated to the devices. In one collision, a driver pulled away from a parking space along westbound Clifton Way and clipped a passing car. In the other, a driver’s Meeting Date: December 9, 2025

Page 5 of 7 ends

cell phone fell out of its mount, and, when the driver reached down to pick it up, they struck a pedestrian crossing the street.

Community Survey Results
To understand stakeholder experiences and observations regarding the modifications to the demonstration, a community survey was conducted. To promote the survey to residents, the City mailed notices to approximately 7,000 addresses along and near the project corridor, emailed the Complete Streets/Mobility Stakeholders email list of over 1,000 people, posted on the Just in Case BH WhatsApp group for the area, and published an article in the Backbone newsletter mailed with utility bills.

The 2025 survey received 58 responses, a 73% decrease from the 214 responses received in 2024. This level of decline is typical of survey fatigue in ongoing public projects, particularly when subsequent phases involve refinements rather than major changes. Notably, the distribution of opinions remained consistent with 2024 results, which suggests the smaller sample still reflects broader community sentiment and that attitudes toward the project have stabilized.

Clifton/Hamel
At the Clifton/Hamel intersection, curb extensions were narrowed by 1.5 feet. Almost half of respondents prefer no traffic calming device at all at this intersection, followed by approximately 20% that prefer to replace the curb extensions with a traffic circle.

Half of respondents feel that the narrowed curb extensions make it more difficult to travel through the intersection, approximately 30% think the narrowed curb extensions make it easier, and the remaining approximately 20% are neutral.

Primary reasons identified for disliking the narrowed curb extensions include they are still too wide to accommodate traffic, they are now too narrow to encourage safer driving, and they are ugly. Primary reasons identified for liking the narrowed curb extensions include it’s easier to make turns in their vehicles and they calm traffic.

Clifton/Willaman
At the Clifton/Willaman intersection, the curb extensions were removed and replaced with a traffic circle. Almost half of respondents prefer to keep the traffic circle, followed by approximately 40% that prefer no traffic calming device at all.

Approximately half of respondents report that the intersection feels more difficult to navigate with the traffic circle, just over one-third think it is easier, and the remaining approximately 12% are neutral.

Primary reasons identified for disliking the traffic circle include it creates more traffic, it is confusing to navigate, and the stop signs should be yield signs. Primary reasons identified for liking the traffic circle include it improves safety for drivers/pedestrians, it slows traffic, and it is preferable over the previous curb extensions.

Clifton/Carson
At the Clifton/Carson intersection, the curb extensions were removed. Over half of respondents prefer to keep the intersection as it is without a traffic calming device, followed by almost onequarter that prefer to add a traffic circle.

Meeting Date: December 9, 2025

Page 6 of 7 ends

Almost 75% of respondents report that it is easier to travel through the intersection without the curb extensions, followed by a fairly even split between respondents who feel the intersection is more difficult and those that are neutral.

Primary reasons identified for disliking the intersection without curb extensions include pedestrians are less visible to drivers and the intersection encourages higher vehicle speeds.

Primary reasons identified for liking the intersection without curb extensions include drivers can travel faster, it’s less challenging to make turns, and improved aesthetics.

Centerline Striping at Multiple Intersections
At all intersections with a traffic calming device, centerline striping was added to help drivers enter the correct lane and minimize crossing over into oncoming traffic. Over half of respondents report that this change had no impact on the ease of travel through these intersections, though approximately one-third of respondents think the centerline striping made traveling easier. Approximately two-thirds of respondents state there was also no impact on vehicle lane positioning with this change, while almost 20% feel there are fewer instances of drivers crossing into oncoming traffic at intersections.

Overall Opinions
When asked if they noticed a change in the ease of walking/biking along Clifton Way as a whole after installation of the modifications, over one-third of respondents remain neutral, followed by a fairly even split between respondents who think it is easier and those who think it is more difficult. Regarding driving, approximately half of respondents feel it is more difficult, followed by a fairly even split between respondents who think it is easier and those who are neutral.

Regarding the three intersections that were not modified, respondents were asked to rank six possible outcomes, which are listed below in order of highest score.  Keep the traffic circles and curb extensions where they are, but narrow all curb extensions (5.22)
 Keep the traffic circles and curb extensions as they are (4.66)  Replace the traffic circles with curb extensions (4.05)  Remove the project and put the street back the way it was (4.03)  Replace the traffic circles with narrower curb extensions (3.86)  Replace the curb extensions with a traffic circle (3.57) Regarding top choice, almost half of respondents would like to keep the traffic circles and curb extensions where they are but are split on preference for narrower curb extensions, and just over one-third of respondents would like to remove the project. When considering the breakdown of respondents by location:
 6 of 10 respondents (60%) who live on Clifton Way report their top choice is to keep the traffic circles and curb extensions where they are, though two prefer narrower curb extensions.
 12 of 26 respondents (46%) who live on a side street that intersects with Clifton Way report their top choice is to remove the project. Another nine (35%) prefer to keep the traffic circles and curb extensions where they are, though five prefer narrower curb extensions.
 12 of 22 respondents (55%) who live in a different part of Beverly Hills report their top choice is to keep the traffic circles and curb extensions where they are, though six prefer narrower curb extensions. Another seven (32%) prefer to remove the project.

Meeting Date: December 9, 2025

Traffic and Parking Commission Feedback
The Traffic and Parking Commission voted 4-1 to recommend that City Council retain the project due to the positive safety trends, make additional modifications to address community feedback, and upgrade the materials to improve aesthetics and reduce maintenance needs.

Potential project refinements identified include further narrowing the curb extensions, converting stop signs to yield signs to reduce confusion, and implementing irrigated landscaping at a lower height.

One Commissioner recommended the project be removed entirely and expressed that there may be cheaper and less confusing solutions, such as speed feedback signs or speed humps.

Public Noticing
To advise residents of the community survey and this meeting, notices were mailed to approximately 7,000 addresses along and near the project corridor (Attachment 4), doublesided A-frame signs were placed along Clifton Way, and information was posted on the Just in Case BH WhatsApp group for the area.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact to this item. Funding for project next steps, as needed, is available in the approved budgets for the Annual Street Sign and Striping CIP (No. 00863) and Complete Streets CIP (No. 00100). Additional funding can be acquired through the Measure M local return sales tax dollars through the Westside Cities Council of Governments, which is available for projects that improve first-last mile connections to the Metro D Line stations.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council provide direction on next steps for the traffic calming demonstration on Clifton Way between Robertson and La Cienega Boulevards, including making additional modifications, upgrading to permanent materials, or removing the project.

Q4 What specifically do you like/dislike about the traffic circles? Answered: 214 Skipped: 0
# RESPONSES DATE
1 Effective and attractive 10/8/2024 10:39 AM
2 They are utterly annoying. Not reducing traffic, they’re actually adding more traffic! People are not understanding who has the right of way and do whatever they want. Have seen many almost accidents in the traffic circle intersections
10/6/2024 4:33 PM
3 They aren’t too large and allow vehicles to move freely. 10/6/2024 1:58 PM 4 I feel very unsafe walking along Clifton. Vehicles cannot navigate safely around the rraffic circle, making pedestrians feel unsafe. They do not stop for pedestrians. The cars seem to be "chasing us." This makes "walking" feel very dangerous. There have been a couple of close calls...scary. What about the liability for the City of Beverly Hills regarding the disabled? It's very difficult for the elderly and the disabled to navigate these traffic circles safely. It's ironic as this pilot program" was sup"posed to increase safety and decrease traffic. It's having the opposite effect.
10/5/2024 4:47 PM
5 Stop spending money for useless matters. Example Roxbury park bike lane parking stall to be all reversed 6 months later. Few million dollars spent for nothing and more . 10/4/2024 11:47 AM
6 I am neutral. 10/3/2024 10:33 PM
7 Makes the street more narrow causes more traffic and just makes the street busy and crowded. Not aesthetically pleasing also a waste of tax dollars 10/1/2024 4:03 PM
8 The planters and the signage, block the view of any driver heading east or west, from seeing a vehicle with a "left hand" turn signal. I have been almost clipped by 7 cars in the last two months. Further, drivers don't understand the circular motion signage, or choose to ignore it. 10/1/2024 10:15 AM
9 They were pretty while slowing down traffic. 9/30/2024 9:37 PM 10 They look great and discourage people using side streets as short cuts. 9/30/2024 1:40 PM 11 I LIKE THAT THEY SLOW DOWN THE CARS 9/30/2024 11:11 AM 12 It’s hard for 2 cars coming fm opposite direction to pass the intersection at the same time. I almost colluded few times with other cars coming fm opposite direction. 9/29/2024 3:14 PM
13 Any way to slow drivers down is welcome, such as traffic circles. Please add more. 9/27/2024 4:27 PM 14 Attractive landscaping 9/27/2024 12:41 PM
15 It is a great use of design to regulate the danger of cars on the road. 9/27/2024 11:32 AM 16 The space left is too narrow, does feel dangerous and may actually be. It it impossible to cross when a truck comes in the opposite direction. It makes Beverly Hills look as if it has narrow streets, which it feels like now. No actual safety benefits! 9/27/2024 11:27 AM
17 Ugly. Drivers seem confused 9/27/2024 10:39 AM
18 Makes drivers pay attention since most ignore stop signs. 9/27/2024 10:35 AM 19 It has made it much easier to bike to and from work. I feel safer and supported by the city if Beverly Hills to bike without the fear of being hit by a driver running through a stop sign in that area.
9/27/2024 10:27 AM
20 The turn is very dangerous, since it’s very narrow. When waiting on Clifton, at the La Cianga traffic light, the turn causes more traffic jams, impatient drivers to shorten the wait and take a short cut to the left of turn, against traffic’s direction, which can cause a head-on accident, which is very dangerous. Some drivers simply get confused by a misunderstanding and cut to the left against the direction of traffic. very dangerous!!! 9/26/2024 10:06 AM
Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
21 Traffic circles combined with stop signs create confusion. Fine if you want to go with yield signs but combining with stop signs makes it more confusing especially if someone is making a left turn
9/26/2024 9:18 AM
22 They are extremely large, Difficult to go around, defeat the purpose of safety because Cars do not stop at the stop sign thinking that it is a circle
9/25/2024 4:44 PM
23 They could be prettier. I am not sure about drivers approaching roundabouts properly since they are not used to it yet like in Europe.
9/25/2024 12:47 PM
24 The traffic circles are fine. Where we really need one is the five-point intersection north of Santa Monica Blvd (I don't recall the exact intersections off hand). The item went to City Council in 2023 I believe, and the Council shut the idea down. Big mistake. 9/25/2024 10:50 AM
25 We are living next to the circle and it really helps the traffic to slow. The tree inside the circle needs to look nice and straight. Right now the tree is leaning towards the side and as it grows it get worst.
9/25/2024 8:01 AM
26 The traffic circles are too large relative to the street, especially when coupled with curb extensions. They take up too much space. Furthermore, after a set of 3, I have witnessed frustrated drivers ignore the round about do its size & simply proceed to "short turn" the round about. Finally, the traffic circles design is cheap & ugly alongside cheap & ugly curb extensions. This is BEVERLY HILLS you need to beautify it like the flats to increase the property value. Instead you guys install cheap plastic gimmicks to truly turn us into the "eastside ghetto" of Beverly Hills.
9/24/2024 1:11 PM
27 I like that it slows traffic 9/21/2024 5:40 PM
28 I don’t mind them 9/19/2024 11:10 AM
29 Facilitate traffic with more safety 9/16/2024 3:15 PM 30 They are dangerous. They narrow the streets and many cars almost hit me. A lot of cars don’t go around the circle to make a left. They just turn left behind the circle 9/16/2024 9:17 AM
31 Reduced the number of cars traveling the area and there are not as many cars behind the red light before La Cienga.
9/15/2024 4:51 PM
32 I live on Clifton Way, which is a very nice tree-lined street. The traffic circles are not necessary. They add to congestion and many drivers are confused how to drive around them.

A driver recently went the wrong way and almost hit me. 9/15/2024 2:25 PM
33 Eliminates cars speeding and less traffic. 9/15/2024 12:48 PM 34 There’s too much going on - you can’t see the road 9/15/2024 8:57 AM 35 better way to prevent traffic running stop signs 9/15/2024 8:56 AM 36 Nothing 9/14/2024 4:59 PM
37 It is quite large for the space. 9/14/2024 11:11 AM
38 The one on Le doux is tricky because traffic gets backed up in Clifton during rush hour and cars stop in the middle of the circle to ensure they make the light. If you’re going north on Le doux and trying to make a left the space is blocked. I’ve also seen over 10 cars go the wrong way to make a left turn going N on Le doux. I think the intersection is too small for a traffic circle and too close to the light on a popular street
9/13/2024 10:18 PM
39 They are not achieving their goals. Speed bumps/humps would be a better solution to get people to slow down along Clifton. But as I walk my dogs each morning and night I often see cars going through the circles without stopping at the stop signs. I think people assume if it is a traffic circle, you do not need to stop before entering it. 9/13/2024 6:13 PM
40 They are clearly defined and aesthetically pleasing 9/12/2024 5:58 PM 41 Not attractive 9/12/2024 10:15 AM
42 They slow traffic through the neighbourhoods brilliantly. I would recommend more of them throughout other neighbourhoods
9/12/2024 8:45 AM
43 Don't like limited space 9/11/2024 3:22 PM
Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
44 Look cheap/temp. Would like to see them be bigger 9/10/2024 7:30 PM 45 That people don’t stop and instead roll through and don’t look at pedestrians. 9/10/2024 5:01 PM 46 the traffic circle is good since people don't stop in stopping any more 9/10/2024 1:45 PM 47 Treescape of traffic circles are aesthetically pleasing 9/10/2024 1:32 PM 48 Unattractive 9/10/2024 9:05 AM
49 NA 9/9/2024 10:00 PM
50 They are an eyesore. Cheap materials used. Signage is terrible. People get confused and have no idea what they are to do. They make it impossible for large vehicles and service vehicles (fire trucks etc) to get through. The materials used look cheap and are an eyesore. 9/9/2024 4:35 PM
51 Traffic circles are used to facilitate traffic so that stop signs or traffic lights do not have to be used. The circles all have stop signs and delay traffic and cause it to back up. Also, I have almost had several accidents at the traffic circles as many drivers turn left in Front of the traffic circles.
9/9/2024 10:56 AM
52 The street is too small and tight. 9/8/2024 8:07 PM
53 They make the street tighter causing people to almost collide with each other. Also, no one knows how to use the round about so they go when they feel fit without waiting for their turn. 9/8/2024 8:06 PM
54 Slows down traffic and prevents running of stops signs. 9/8/2024 7:30 PM 55 These are not true roundabouts insofar as the car in the circle unequivocally has right-of-way until they exit. As I drive to a circled intersection to make a left turn, I yield to the vehicle to the right, in the case of a simultaneous arrival. Once I enter the intersection I am diverted slightly right to clear the central obstruction but as I revolve counterclockwise, I am confronted with a vehicle to my right (which would have been in the opposing direction in a normal intersection) who has come to a complete stop before I have arrived. In a conventional intersection, that car would have right of way had I made the left turn. Had I come from the original 90 degree position, I would have had to yield to this car but because I've covered 90 degrees of the turn, in the world of roundabouts have right-of-way. But I'm in exactly the same spot in the street as the car that would have had to yield. I understand the traffic pattern but have zero confidence in the opposing car (now to my right). In a conventional intersection the opposing car would have right-of-way for both my left turn and for the car 90 degrees to their left, But now I have right-of-way. I just can't on them understanding the flow of this unusual intersection. So I end up placing "chicken" with the opposing vehicle because, who knows if they're going to yield. That introduction of uncertainty is undesirable. Traffic patterns should be self-evident.
9/8/2024 2:28 PM
56 the intersection is to narrow and makes no impact, it makes it even more on safe. 9/8/2024 12:45 PM 57 Traffic circles in Europe have "Yield" signs rather than "Stop" signs. This facilitates the flow of traffic. The ones installed in Beverly Hills are just "glorified" Stop signs. They do not add anything to the flow of traffic. I understand however that there would need to be a complete education for American drivers, so I believe that for the moment the "Stop" signs are necessary.

62 Less intrusive-looking than the curb extensions. 9/7/2024 9:14 AM 63 It is very difficult to maneuver around. The street is already not that wide and now it is even more narrow. Seems to have more traffic backed up. So many people have difficulty with turns.

65 safer streets for anyone walking including children 9/5/2024 5:47 PM 66 The new plan to calm down the traffic is not practical and would disturb the drivers and the beauty of our city “Beverly Hills”. This type of square is suitable for wider streets and alleys.

For narrow streets, such as Clifton Way, and other Beverly Hills, narrow streets, the square would confuse the drivers and the driving skills and cause accidents. Also the side plants that are placed on the side of the streets, they narrow the current streets which make the driving harder.
9/5/2024 5:26 PM
67 Creates chaos 9/5/2024 4:38 PM
68 When drivers observe the rules, these work very well. However there are those who still want to whizz through or who are confused but don't take care to learn new rules. 9/5/2024 3:04 PM
69 You can't see pedestrians cyclists clearly 9/5/2024 11:11 AM 70 I love traffic circles because they significantly improve safety in residential intersections. The streets with traffic circles feel much safer now. there are not any downsides for cars either, they can just go around the traffic circles
9/5/2024 8:39 AM
71 I think they could match BH’s overall municipal aesthetic a bit more but frankly we’ll take what we can get in LA! As long as it tames drivers we’re cool. 9/5/2024 12:11 AM
72 I don’t love the skins around the traffic circle and I think some people don’t know how to follow the rules. They don’t understand it is treated as a stop sign and you need to fully go around the circle to go left, sometimes I feel unsafe because other drivers go without waiting 9/4/2024 10:14 PM
73 They are pointless and actually make it more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians. 9/4/2024 9:11 PM 74 Slows cars down 9/4/2024 9:04 PM
75 It does cause drivers to slow down and pay attention 9/4/2024 5:35 PM 76 They are too big and confusing. Too many near miss accidents 9/4/2024 4:50 PM 77 Slow down vehicle traffic. 9/4/2024 3:56 PM

79 I like all the elements that the traffic circles have (planters, big tree, yellow sign and markings) 9/4/2024 3:23 PM 80 I like them 9/4/2024 2:57 PM
81 They slow down traffic, while making the city look more beautiful 9/4/2024 1:40 PM 82 They are simple yet so effective and easy to walk around 9/4/2024 1:40 PM 83 Beautifies neighborhood, makes it safer for me and my family to walk around. 9/4/2024 12:17 PM 84 The traffic circle closest to La Cienega causes some backlog for cars waiting at the light.

Traffic extends into the next intersection roundabout and can be confusing. The one closest to Robertson doesn't seem to have a traffic problem.
9/4/2024 11:01 AM
85 It’s plastic, flower pots not appealing. If you do one make solid use soil and plant the plants on the soil. And it causes more traffic and confusion. I am used to the round s out from living Europe but most locals are not.
9/4/2024 10:07 AM
86 With the stop signs AND traffic circles, it's extremely annoying for drivers, pedestrians, and everyone involved. If the stop signs were to be removed as usual traffic circles are normally architected, it would be neutral or potentially positive. 9/4/2024 10:07 AM
87 Idk 9/3/2024 9:51 PM
88 They calm the traffic and there is less speeding and u-turns. Drivers are doing less dangerous maneuvers that impact walkers, bikers and other drivers. 9/3/2024 5:19 PM
89 They obstruct views and make it harder to see pedestrians. Was almost run over by someone who didn't see I was in the cross walk when they pulled out. 9/3/2024 4:55 PM
90 They are beautiful and make the neighborhood look a lot nicer. 9/3/2024 2:54 PM 91 It makes it so much more difficult to take a left, especially when there is another car 9/3/2024 1:48 PM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
approaching. It is very dangerous. It does not help at all. If anything it makes there be a higher likelihood of accidents.
92 Traffic circles are acceptable and appropriate, but are superfluous when installed with adjacent Stop signs.
9/2/2024 10:51 PM
93 hard to manuever, two narrow for two cars. and cars often don’t use the roundabout and take dangerous left turns
9/2/2024 9:09 PM
94 Unnecessarily makes the road too narrow 9/2/2024 9:05 PM 95 The plants are lovely 9/2/2024 6:03 PM
96 The beautiful wide streets of Beverly Hills have now come to look like the cluttered streets of LA. No beauty, just uncomfortable and unappealing effort that hasn't slowed anything down. 9/2/2024 4:22 PM
97 No one knows the rules of a traffic circle and people still speed through them. It's just an eyesore, has not slowed traffic at all. Need to have traffic police give out tickets and then they will stop speeding and driving through the stop signs.
9/2/2024 4:18 PM
98 Creates visual obstructions. 9/2/2024 3:34 PM
99 less traffic, it is good it should be more. 9/2/2024 2:27 PM 100 Total waste of City funds. I see nothing favorable about the traffic circle. They need to be removed!!
9/2/2024 1:01 PM
101 A) people sometimes avoid driving aroud them to turn left, and short cut them. B) the planters in the circles take a line of sight away from drivers seeing pedestrians crossing the street C) people still dont stop.
9/2/2024 11:56 AM
102 Wondering whether we need both stop signs and circles. After the stop some people seem to get confused. But, I do like how much people slow down with these circles. 9/2/2024 11:06 AM
103 Safety first ❤️ 9/2/2024 9:23 AM
104 I like how the traffic circles slow down traffic. I don't like that drivers don't know how to yield to the driver on their right before proceeding. Better signage explaining how to drive through a traffic circle would be helpful.
9/1/2024 11:13 PM
105 I support all measures that will decrease traffic accidents and help save pedestrian lives. 9/1/2024 6:59 PM 106 Slows the fast traffic. I hope you can do more on the traffic coming from Wilshire and traveling north
9/1/2024 6:14 PM
107 I feel like drivers are more aware of cyclists, like myself, when approaching the traffic circles. 9/1/2024 5:38 PM 108 I do not find the traffic circle to be safe as cars do not stop and yield to a car making a left turn. It is confusing for some drivers.
9/1/2024 5:03 PM
109 It definitely gives the area a more residential and elegant look; above all, it has increased the safety and confidence of pedestrians, cyclists, parents with children and the elderly to move around, play and/or walk and do sports activities. It gives more sense of belonging and joy to the area.
9/1/2024 2:11 PM
110 The traffic circles impose a safety risk, especially when you stop at a traffic circle and want to make a left turn. You need to drive around the circle which is difficult when there are cars on the right side and opposite side. It is not easily visible to establish right of way especially when two or more vehicles come the the traffic circle.
9/1/2024 2:00 PM
111 Reduces the space in the streets & provides very little benefit for for the main purpose. 9/1/2024 1:28 PM 112 It makes the street feel parklike. 9/1/2024 12:45 PM 113 1. I think they are confusing. Traffic circles are not common in Southern California. 2. I find them frustrating and I imagine other people do as while. By being frustrating this amps up someone's negative emotions making them a more dangerous driver. 9/1/2024 12:17 PM
114 I think it makes it more difficult for cars to travel through the circles and navigate the street 9/1/2024 11:33 AM 115 I like that they force drivers to pay more attention when going through intersections 9/1/2024 10:55 AM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
116 They make me feel safer outside of a car and aren't inconvenient while driving. 9/1/2024 10:28 AM 117 Traffic circles encourage motorists to slow through the intersection which is safer for pedestrians and is a good noise abatement from braking/accelerating cars. 9/1/2024 10:05 AM
118 Attractive 9/1/2024 8:58 AM
119 It is more uncertain for driver in car turning left around circle as to whether the car in opposite direction will hit you because they think you are going straight past circle rather than turn. I always use signal but many drivers don’t. Circle in four way intersection is very awkward turn. 9/1/2024 8:50 AM
120 Traffic circles are unnecessary and a waste of money 9/1/2024 7:23 AM 121 Indifferent 9/1/2024 4:59 AM
122 It slows traffic but not so much that it ever causes gridlock. 9/1/2024 3:21 AM 123 At rush hour there are often traffic backups in the southbound and eastbound directions. The traffic circle tends to confuse many drivers lending to the traffic congestion at the intersection. 9/1/2024 1:57 AM
124 They do not look nice and take up too much space. 8/31/2024 11:42 PM 125 This was a horrible idea it makes traffic worse, can't get around it when there is traffic you sit and wait, can't get down the street when there is a car coming toward you I hate this!!!!!!!! I have to take these streets every day between my house and my parents house who live on Arnaz and Colgate.
8/31/2024 6:04 PM
126 I liked the effect it had on other drivers progressing through intersections more cautiously and slowly.

130 It slows down the traffic 8/31/2024 4:21 PM
131 Prior to this project’s installation, I never once felt nervous about turning onto or off of Clifton.

Now, if another car is approaching the intersection 90 degrees from me, I often have to take minor but essential defensive steering action to avoid being clipped by the other car — and this is from a safe driver who has literally never had a single accident or mishap since 1972. 8/31/2024 3:36 PM
132 What a bizarre idea! It will likely cause more accidents, makes manuevering difficult and encourages reckless driving (e.g. speeding around obstacles). Frankly, it's a pain the XXX to make a right turn with big flower pots and bollards bulging into the street and making the intersections narrow. AWFUL, DUMB and WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY (even need watering trucks to water the plants!)...wasting salaries, gas and water. Kill the idea and fine the person who came up with this plan.
8/31/2024 3:28 PM
133 Very effective in serving purpose and it’s beautiful 8/31/2024 3:23 PM 134 I was hoping they would be less ridiculous looking and we could come up with aesthetically more pleasing methods to slow and control flow. Sometimes less is more if you can use your brains to be inventive. The barriers and their plantings just look cheesy. 8/31/2024 2:57 PM
135 I primarily like that it looks like something that is going to make me feel safer. I like that there is opportunity to beautify the materials used even more (for example, the use of native plants in large planters/guards).
8/31/2024 2:41 PM
136 In a traffic circle, traffic is meant to yield into the circle. It’s not supposed to also have stop signs. It’s redundant and a waste of money.
8/31/2024 2:39 PM
137 It is very dangerous especially if there are 2 large vehicles. I highly recommend that they are taken out as soon as possible.
8/31/2024 2:08 PM
138 They definitely help slow traffic. Please install one at Willaman. People are always rushing there because of the north south traffic lights. The curb extension isn’t enough at Willaman I think a traffic circle would have a big impact.

142 Traffic backed up around them. So cars come to a standstill . Seeing Many near collisions with drivers trying to make turns.
8/31/2024 10:44 AM
143 They are ugly looking. They do not slow traffic or reduce traffic. 8/31/2024 8:47 AM 144 For cars to slow down knowing they are entering a residential neighborhood 8/31/2024 1:13 AM 145 It is ugly and serves no purpose other than to create more traffic. It is unnecessary. 8/31/2024 12:28 AM 146 The fact that drivers must not only be cautious but also exceptionally vigilant is undoubtedly one of the positive aspects of this project. Clearly, any addition of greenery enhances the aesthetic appeal, and if the plants are selected and arranged tastefully, this project can also significantly increase the property’s value. I believe this project has had a positive impact on the neighborhood. However, I might have chosen a different type of tree and plants. 8/30/2024 9:22 PM
147 Some people still don’t stop at the stop signs, but they do slow down. It’s safer for the neighborhood. Also, the planters are appealing. Nice to have additional plants and trees. 8/30/2024 8:22 PM
148 I live on Arnaz Dr between Clifton and Wilshire absolutely the love the look of the traffic Circle and the calming devices with plants. It really adds charm to the neighborhood. Friends and family have also commented on how it is a very nice addition to the neighborhood. From a safety perspective I think it has really helped slow traffic on Arnaz - esp coming from Burton Way towards Wilshire. I have to back out of my driveway onto arnaz and visibility is challenging and thus dangerous when cars go fast on Arnaz. I really do think the traffic circle and the recently added speed bumps have helped slow traffic. I truly hope you will make the traffic circle and curb extensions / calming devices a permanent feature on Clifton. Thank you!!
8/30/2024 7:38 PM
149 I live two houses from from the LeDoux traffic circle and it in no way has eased the line of traffic that sits in front of my house during afternoon rush hour. Also, people can't tell when someone is planning to go straight through the circle vs. "turning" right/left and it causes dangerous situations. It has not improved any aspect of the traffic issues. 8/30/2024 7:36 PM
150 I feel safer as a pedestrian and cyclist. Also it's very easy to use as a driver. I hope the permanent installation is prettier and more solid looking 8/30/2024 7:32 PM
151 Slows down the cars! 8/30/2024 6:33 PM
152 Other drivers seem confused about the flow of traffic, nearly causing accident. Witnessed this multiple times.
8/30/2024 6:23 PM
153 People do not seem to understand how to drive during them. Every time I drive by the two traffic circles on Clifton someone either tries to run the stop sign or not understand that you have to go around it to turn and tries to just go. It’s incredibly frustrating. 8/30/2024 5:09 PM
154 Slow cars down 8/30/2024 4:57 PM
155 They draw awareness to the fact that this is a residential neighborhood and are an effort to slow the significant speeds we’ve been seeing.
8/30/2024 4:36 PM
156 Not efficient. They create more traffic and more dangerous situations 8/30/2024 4:33 PM 157 Horrible narrows the street too much and almost have accident with pedestrians or card 8/30/2024 4:29 PM 158 My observation is that it has not made any difference in speed and stopping compared to before the installation. It is unattractive. My observation is that it seems to cause confusion when 2 cars arrive at same time.
8/30/2024 3:54 PM
159 Circles is not designed for that area, it does not make traffic better, and i have seen many close call accidents; and i have seen cases where it makes traffic worse. 8/30/2024 12:44 PM
160 A roundabout is meant to be used without stop signs in order to ease the flow of traffic. The majority of this community comes from countries would use it in that manner. This has led to confusion as people drive. One roundabout is being used after a stoplight, which causes extreme back up in the roundabout as people wait in the roundabout, instead of staying out of it The way in which the city is using roundabouts is causing more confusion, traffic and frustration the streets that it has been put on is mainly for residence. Also on these small 8/30/2024 9:59 AM

streets this feels like it makes it really hard for fire trucks or ambulance to get to the houses in a timely manner.

163 Pleasing to look at. Matches the aesthetic of the area and neighborhood. 8/30/2024 3:45 AM 164 LIKE: ease of turns, delivery trucks can go around easily, street cleaning is possible, gutters can be reached to clean, pleasing to walk by, actually makes cars stop, delivery trucks can access homes on the corners, weeds not growing because of constant movement and motion.

DISLIKE: nothing

165 they are a major pain 8/29/2024 9:06 PM
166 Slows traffic down. No speeding 8/29/2024 8:36 PM
167 Placing traffic circles at intersections with four stop signs is ineffective and inefficient. 8/29/2024 6:26 PM 168 Too narrow spaces to allow traffic driving the circles - very difficult. I have had several close accidents with other cars and too little space.
8/29/2024 5:31 PM
169 Looks nice. Lowers the speed of the cars. 8/29/2024 4:48 PM 170 They accomplished the job they were set out to do And they are attractive. 8/29/2024 4:27 PM 171 I like the plants. 8/29/2024 4:20 PM
172 I have noticed that during rush hour, people will still end up blocking the cross streets by blocking the round a bout, so no one else can get through. 8/29/2024 3:24 PM
173 The street is too narrow for traffic circles. 8/29/2024 2:57 PM 174 Prevents running of stop signs at intersections 8/29/2024 2:34 PM 175 They have horrible, if any signage. They are very confusing. They are very cheap looking and unattractive. Ambulances and other emergency vehicles cannot get through them. 8/29/2024 2:04 PM
176 You can go through the circle unknowing that the car to your left is also going through to your side. I've had to avoid more collisions than before the circle. 8/29/2024 2:01 PM
177 As an owner on Hamel I am curious what a permanent installation would look like. The temporary installation looks good, but definitely looks temporary and can be improved to retain the value of the neighborhood.
8/29/2024 1:53 PM
178 slow traffic and also keep traffic moving (instead of 4 way stop) 8/29/2024 1:03 PM 179 you did not put one at the Hamel - Clifton intersection, so more cars started speeding up Hamel from Wilshire. Put the traffic circles at all the Clifton intersections 8/29/2024 1:00 PM
180 slowing traffic - would like to see more of them in bh 8/29/2024 12:58 PM 181 I’d like the traffic circles it forces the traffic to stop and not crowd the intersection. But We need more traffic enforcement to make sure that they comply to the stop signs. This means having somebody there during rush hours and also at other times. I have observed officers come at a non-peak time. They should also be added to peak times in the morning and in the late afternoon.
8/29/2024 12:47 PM
182 They slow down aggressive drivers. 8/29/2024 12:46 PM 183 It sucks 8/29/2024 12:45 PM
184 Many drivers do not know how to use traffic circles and drive counterclockwise or make a left turn in front of the traffic circle instead of going around. I observed this at least a dozen times.

Perhaps clearer signage is required. Overall, I see a big improvement. 8/29/2024 12:42 PM
185 Traffic circles look attractive. They signify entrance into Beverly Hills. It demands that people pay more attention to the cross section. Although I do think the two we have is sufficient. Any more would feel too cumbersome.

187 I only wish they were slightly bigger! 8/29/2024 12:25 PM 188 Easy to see as you approach them because of the yellow paint. I do find it somewhat difficult to go completely around, especially when there's a car coming through from the other way. 8/29/2024 12:24 PM
189 There seems to be less vehicle traffic! 8/29/2024 12:20 PM 190 it does slow cars down safer for pedestrians & cyclists 8/29/2024 12:16 PM 191 People don't know how to use them, it's confusing. I've seen several almost accidents there. 8/29/2024 11:07 AM 192 Like: Greenery, potential clear nice signage that you are IN or Entering Beverly Hills, make people look multiple ways longer which is safer. Dislike - people speed around them. 8/29/2024 9:42 AM
193 They are Guly and people are using it as a trash deposits Its hard to go around it and make a turn Very very ugly and not good looking for Beverly Hills 8/29/2024 8:51 AM
194 Drivers do not respect the order that cars enter the circle, especially if you're stopped because of traffic. The drivers that come on the sides just enter the circle and block the circle while they wait for traffic to move.
8/29/2024 7:32 AM
195 Hard to see the other cars and almost got into an accident 8/29/2024 7:19 AM 196 They confuse drivers of which vehicles wants to turn or go into which street causing backup and potential accident.
8/28/2024 10:08 PM
197 Traffic continues to flow 8/28/2024 9:33 PM
198 It definitely slows traffic 8/28/2024 9:08 PM
199 Hate the aesthetics. They are fugly. They increase frustration for drivers. It’s not working! 8/28/2024 8:56 PM 200 Slows traffic and speeding through intersections 8/28/2024 7:54 PM 201 They are very bad because they increase the chance of car accidents 8/28/2024 7:47 PM 202 Love the traffic circles. It’s confusing to have stop signs AND circles, at least for anyone who has lived someplace with traffic circles elsewhere.
8/28/2024 7:34 PM
203 DUMB idea not everyone knows how to use them 8/28/2024 7:02 PM 204 Neutral 8/28/2024 6:45 PM
205 People get confused and stop for longer than necessary. People are having a hard time navigating ‘right of way’
8/28/2024 6:38 PM
206 They take too much space. Distracts drivers from seeing traffic signals (car blinkers) to the left.
8/28/2024 6:31 PM
207 The traffic circles makes it harder for cars to be able to fit on both sides. Also, I notice it has no affect on making drivers go slower- they still go fast! 8/28/2024 6:17 PM
208 As someone who both drives and walks in this area frequently, I think it would be preferable for traffic to go a little slower.
8/28/2024 4:56 PM
209 Traffic circles with stop signs are confusing and hard to navigate. Traffic circles are more logical without stop signs
8/28/2024 1:58 PM
210 I like the way the look & slows traffic. I don’t like the cars that do not use the circle correctly & make turns into on coming traffic.
8/28/2024 10:40 AM
211 They aren’t doing enough to slow cars zipping down Clifton. 8/27/2024 10:46 PM 212 Some drivers take up too much space and then you have to wait for them to clear before you can drive through intersection
8/27/2024 12:45 PM
213 It makes traffic more orderly and causes drivers to show down and stop at stop sign. It definitely makes pedestrian crossing safer! It also beautifies the area and makes the area look like more of a community and less like a thoroughfare.
8/27/2024 11:28 AM
214 Dangerous. Drivers are doing short cuts and not going all the way around for example making the illegal quick left. Also tons of drivers are ignoring the traffic circle and are speeding thru them without stopping. Its scary. Traffic has gotton much worse. One block in Los Angeles is 8/27/2024 8:34 AM

Q8 What specifically do you like/dislike about the curb extensions? Answered: 214 Skipped: 0
# RESPONSES DATE
1 Effective and attractive 10/8/2024 10:39 AM
2 They are utterly annoying 10/6/2024 4:33 PM
3 There are so many things wrong with these. 1) it doesn’t allow for 2 vehicles to safely pass each other. Drivers wait till the vehicle clears the stop sign to make a turn into the opposite lane since the room looks visibly limited. 2. Small children play and use the landscaping and it visually impairs the intersection where you cannot see them. 3. They are just too large for these roads and while it maybe effective and slowing traffic there can be more efficient ways to do that than increasing risk of accidents
10/6/2024 1:58 PM
4 The planters are aesthetically pleasing. However, these plants/planters must be maintained throughout the year.
10/5/2024 4:47 PM
5 Stop spending taxpayer money uselessly ! 10/4/2024 11:47 AM 6 I am neutral. 10/3/2024 10:33 PM
7 Too narrow increases traffic 10/1/2024 4:03 PM
8 Difficult for dog walkers. Really difficult for two SUVs to squeeze through as one heads east bound, one westbound. Absolutely a HAZARD for anyone using the bike lane, 10/1/2024 10:15 AM
9 They were pretty while slowing down traffic. 9/30/2024 9:37 PM 10 Look great and feel safer for kids 9/30/2024 1:40 PM 11 I LIKE THAT THEY SLOW DOWN THE CARS 9/30/2024 11:11 AM 12 Hard for 2 cars to cross intersection at the same time 9/29/2024 3:14 PM 13 It makes walking on Clifton seem safer. 9/27/2024 4:27 PM 14 They don't seem to do much. People still run the stop signs. 9/27/2024 12:41 PM 15 It is a great use of design to protect pedestrians and encourage walking. 9/27/2024 11:32 AM 16 Too little space left between cars. Not safe when there is a need to be farther from the curb 9/27/2024 11:27 AM 17 I see people driving into them 9/27/2024 10:39 AM
18 Nothing 9/27/2024 10:35 AM
19 Similarly, the curb extensions make it easier to bike and safely walk arounf 9/27/2024 10:27 AM 20 The roads have become too narrow with the placement of the roundabout + curb extensions. All of the flower posts are ugly and cheap thereby devaluing our properties.

Finally, I have a disabled daughter that uses a wheelchair. She has right to access to the streets which you have now blocked her access. It is hard to cross the roads with the curbextensions & planter boxes. The law has minimum distances required. The entire beauty of Beverly Hills is its wide roads and you continue to narrow them in order to invite outsiders to come into our residential neighborhoods in an environment of high crime. 9/26/2024 10:06 AM
21 Not sure if the street is wide enough to accommodate the curb extensions 9/26/2024 9:18 AM 22 They make difficult to make turns, especially when there are large trucks around and It makes more difficult and dangerous for the bicycles to go around 9/25/2024 4:44 PM
23 Curb extensions enhance visibility and safety. They don't damage vehicles in case of minor collisions but they discourage speeding. I also like the fact that car can not pull over close to the intersection limiting visibility.
9/25/2024 12:47 PM

24 The streets are already narrow, with parked cars, pedestrians, and cyclists. The curb extensions limit right turn ability.
9/25/2024 10:50 AM
25 I am neutral 9/25/2024 8:01 AM
26 One of our family members is handicapped and there are minimum requirements for handicap people & the wheelchair bound. Once your little test is over, Upon completion of your installation I will proceed to hire an attorney to check the legality of this spacing. I'm sure you guys are sitting back there thinking its genius to create a bike path thru our residential streets and the crime levels continue to rise & rise & rise.. and you want to invite outsiders in on "their bikes." NOBODY IN LA BIKES. Everyone in Beverly Hills is driving Mercedes & Lamborghinigs & Ferraris but its ok, Let's turn this into the Beverly Hills ghetto.... make sure you double down your curb extensions with police presence. 9/24/2024 1:11 PM
27 Decrease lane space and is very dangerous 9/21/2024 5:40 PM 28 They make it harder to turn right or left 9/19/2024 11:10 AM 29 Facilitate safety with no slowing down of traffic 9/16/2024 3:15 PM 30 They make the street more narrow and cars still don’t go any slower. Traffic has become worse 9/16/2024 9:17 AM 31 The has become too narrow and is difficult to make turns. Flower beds are dead and unsightly.

They used to be pretty but the vegetation died.
9/15/2024 4:51 PM
32 They cause more congestion. 9/15/2024 2:25 PM
33 They could be a little less intrusive but work to slow traffic and make it easier to cross streets and ride bikes.
9/15/2024 12:48 PM
34 Again, too much going on. You can’t see the road 9/15/2024 8:57 AM 35 They don't do the job of slowing traffic down.. They increase the chances of an accident by bringing cars closer to other cars. What we need for public safety are more effective speed bumps .. that's what works.. and public safety should be placed above owners concerns about resale value of their homes in a city where houses are already astronomically high 9/15/2024 8:56 AM
36 Very tight to turn. Not useful 9/14/2024 4:59 PM
37 They are invasive, unnecessary and expensive. 9/14/2024 11:11 AM 38 You have to slow it down turn. But doing if going straight - so people still don’t stop all the way 9/13/2024 10:18 PM 39 Do not like the planters and bollards - they are ugly and somewhat confusing for pedestrians.

They also can obstruct drivers' view of pedestrians walking dogs. I also see many drivers cruising through the stop signs as they did before the curb extensions were installed. 9/13/2024 6:13 PM
40 See previous answer 9/12/2024 5:58 PM
41 Hideous, ugly, whom are they 'calming'?? Cannot see a purpose. 9/12/2024 10:15 AM 42 They are very aesthetically pleasing for the neighbourhood 9/12/2024 8:45 AM 43 Limited space 9/11/2024 3:22 PM
44 Look cheap/temporary 9/10/2024 7:30 PM
45 Impactful yet also tasteful 9/10/2024 5:01 PM
46 no space for 2 cars to drive very bad 9/10/2024 1:45 PM 47 The curb extensions are aesthetically pleasing and indicate the area is more pedestrian friendly.
9/10/2024 1:32 PM
48 Ugly and very dysfunctional. Too much wasted space. Cars can’t pass. It’s just a nuisance.

Does NOT slow anyone down just makes cars speed up to pass other cars form the other direction.
9/10/2024 9:05 AM
49 NA 9/9/2024 10:00 PM
50 they've made the street too narrow and along with bike traffic the chance of accidents has been increased. Also the materials used are very cheap looking and inappropriate for Beverly 9/9/2024 4:35 PM

Hills but then the City has never treated the area east of Robertson with any respect. 51 The streets are far too narrow for these curb extensions. Large cars or SUVs cannot make a right turn if another car is stopped at the stop sign. A DUMB idea that does nothing to help the traffic issue on Clifton.
9/9/2024 10:56 AM
52 Two big cars side-by-side can barely goes through. It is nearly impossible to make a left turn when there’s another car there.
9/8/2024 8:07 PM
53 If someone has a big car and another is waiting there, you are not able to make a left or right turn because there is not enough space to pass.
9/8/2024 8:06 PM
54 There’s barely enough space for two cars to pass each other. They are NOT effective for cars that want to run stop signs or to slow down unless there’s another car that they need to pass on the other side of the street. Traffic circles work better for this. 9/8/2024 7:30 PM
55 As a bike rider, I can't co-exist with cars at curb extension intersections. I have to place myself in front of car, sometimes at the passenger side A-pillar obstruction, and am risk of getting pinched between the car and the extension furniture. 9/8/2024 2:28 PM
56 the intersection is to narrow and when making turns not enough room to make right of left turn safely. once you turn there is not enough space, and you basically head on with incoming traffic. for elderly drivers is very unsafe. I believe is waste of money. 9/8/2024 12:45 PM
57 They narrow the road considerably. It is sometimes very tight when you are at the Stop sign and a vehicle is coming from the other side, and there is hardly any room both vehicles. This is especially true when a vehicle is turning into your street and/or a large vehicle is involved (like a delivery truck). Then you add the fact that we now have to accommodate bicycle traffic.

The extensions are maybe too wide.
9/8/2024 10:41 AM
58 The esthetic 9/7/2024 11:58 PM
59 Curb extensions without an accompanying bike lane just feel like filler in the road, but are good as a safety measure
9/7/2024 6:36 PM
60 They slow people down & are aesthetically pleasing to our neighborhoods. PLEASE PUT ONE

AT CLIFTON AND SWALL TO SLOW DRIVERS DOWN GOING TO DOWNTOWN BH 9/7/2024 3:55 PM
61 It creates a cohesive flow to our city please put them on Swall at Clifton 9/7/2024 3:50 PM 62 Looks cluttered, cheap. When I drove by, I felt badly for the homeowners in the corner houses because the aesthetics in my opinion decrease the value of their homes. 9/7/2024 9:14 AM
63 Not enough space to turn, always too close to other cars for our comfort. 9/6/2024 7:19 PM 64 Looks nice 9/6/2024 7:12 PM
65 Safer speeds from cars, not feeling like I’m going to get killed 9/5/2024 5:47 PM 66 The new plan to calm down the traffic is not practical and would disturb the drivers and the beauty of our city “Beverly Hills”.

68 Easier to cross when walking, unless a driver is impatient and cuts through or does not check for pedestrians behind/between the planters.
9/5/2024 3:04 PM
69 Ugly and unnecessary 9/5/2024 11:11 AM
70 When I drive on a wide road, I tend to go quite fast. However, the curb extensions narrow the road, which naturally slows my speed. I think it’s helpful for improving safety. 9/5/2024 8:39 AM
71 They look okay! Good work. 9/5/2024 12:11 AM
72 I don’t like the way these look on the street. Sometimes they make it hard to see pedestrians when they are walking or trying to cross the street
9/4/2024 10:14 PM
73 Can't see pedestrians. Also the extensions are UGLY! 9/4/2024 9:11 PM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
74 Slows cars down and makes it easier for pedestrians 9/4/2024 9:04 PM 75 It makes drivers pay attention that this is an intersection 9/4/2024 5:35 PM 76 Too many near miss accidents. Does not slow traffic. Too narrow causing near miss accidents 9/4/2024 4:50 PM 77 Safer streets. 9/4/2024 3:56 PM
78 Safer when walking 9/4/2024 3:46 PM
79 I wish the curb extensions were part of the sidewalk to create even stronger protection 9/4/2024 3:23 PM 80 I prefer traffic circles 9/4/2024 2:57 PM
81 Curb extensions shorten the distance pedestrians need to walk to cross the street. They slow down drivers making right turns as well
9/4/2024 1:40 PM
82 It makes the area for more welcoming to walk and cycle 9/4/2024 1:40 PM 83 I love that they seem to slow people down on streets they frequently speed on! 9/4/2024 12:17 PM 84 no opinion 9/4/2024 11:01 AM
85 Takes to much space and in coming traffic drives in a middle of the two days street what is more dangerous.
9/4/2024 10:07 AM
86 Extremely annoying for drivers, pedestrians, and everyone involved. 9/4/2024 10:07 AM 87 Idk 9/3/2024 9:51 PM
88 They slow the traffic down and make drivers more cautious when entering the intersection. 9/3/2024 5:19 PM 89 Nothing either way. 9/3/2024 4:55 PM
90 They may not be that great for people turning right, but they are really nice looking and improve the look of the neighborhood.
9/3/2024 2:54 PM
91 In the nicest way possible the curb extensions are the worst thing to ever happen to this neighborhood. It makes parking EXTREMELY difficult - I live on the corner of Willaman and Clifton and there is one right outside my house and it makes it so difficult to park. The worst part is how narrow the streets have become and cars get so close to each other when proceeding straight through a stop sign or taking a left onto a street with a car at that stop sign. Please please take these curb extensions off. They are horrible and every person who I have spoken to hates them as well. Please at least take them off of Willaman and Clifton it is causing so many issues and annoyances and we are being impacted the most because of it. 9/3/2024 1:48 PM
92 The curb extensions do nothing more than narrowing the street width, resulting in more dangerous and less safe conditions.
9/2/2024 10:51 PM
93 two narrow for cars in both direction 9/2/2024 9:09 PM 94 Unnecessarily makes the road too narrow 9/2/2024 9:05 PM 95 The plants 9/2/2024 6:03 PM
96 The beautiful wide streets of Beverly Hills have now come to look like the cluttered streets of LA. No beauty, just uncomfortable and unappealing effort that hasn't slowed anything down. 9/2/2024 4:22 PM
97 These are even worse than the traffic circles. People are still driving like maniacs and now they are almost side-swiping my car while they speed down Clifton. 9/2/2024 4:18 PM
98 Creates visual obstructions. 9/2/2024 3:34 PM
99 keep up the good work 9/2/2024 2:27 PM
100 The curb extensions are horrible, They push traffic to close to the center line of the street . I now avoid traveling that street as I feel it's unsafe and creates higher probability of auto accidents.
9/2/2024 1:01 PM
101 The planters, while hideous and cheap looking, the extensions themselves give drivers this sense that pedestrians are protected in there, and dont stop and roll thru like they always did 9/2/2024 11:56 AM
Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
102 I don’t love the plastic “cones”. Just a subjective design dislike. The planters are nicer. 9/2/2024 11:06 AM 103 Safety first ❤️ 9/2/2024 9:23 AM
104 I like how the curb extensions slow down traffic. They work very well. 9/1/2024 11:13 PM 105 See previous answer. 9/1/2024 6:59 PM
106 A little cumbersome 9/1/2024 6:14 PM
107 They look nicer with the plants there as well. 9/1/2024 5:38 PM 108 They narrow the lane for cars to travel in. I do not see how this benefits walkers or cyclers. 9/1/2024 5:03 PM 109 It algo with the traffic circles definitely gives a greater feeling of security, it does improved the beauty of the sector.
9/1/2024 2:11 PM
110 The curb extensions pose a significant risk and safety to the driver. The curb extensions have shorten the usable width of the roads by about 10-15 to 20 feet, shortening the available turning radius. When entering a curb extension, if you want to make a right or left turn you have to be very careful of the available width of the lane you are entering into especially when large SUV are at the stop sign given the width of the SUVs and than many cars stopping at the curb extension are away from the curb extension. Thus the easy available lane space to make a right or left hand turn is reduced and poses a risk. With out the curb extensions, when making a right turn there is more available lane space to make the right turn. Same for making a left turn. If you want I once made a measurement map of the curb extension. Another point is trash. I have seen trash and human waste in some of the flower containers on the corner of Clifton and Carson road. Just yesterday Aug. 31 I took a picture of an empty glass bottle in the black flower bin.
9/1/2024 2:00 PM
111 Takes streets space. 9/1/2024 1:28 PM
112 The plastic bollards look kind of cheap but otherwise a very nice look. 9/1/2024 12:45 PM 113 I find them unnecessary. 9/1/2024 12:17 PM
114 We walk along these streets all the time and the curb extensions appear to make it far more difficult for cars to navigate. There are four-way stops at each of these signs and it seems to me that this should encourage drivers to stop.
9/1/2024 11:33 AM
115 I like that they prevent drivers from cutting corners close to the sidewalks 9/1/2024 10:55 AM 116 they make me safe when crossing the street on foot or on bike 9/1/2024 10:28 AM 117 Curb extensions narrow the street and therefore encourage slower traffic. The number of motorists rolling through stop signs or ignoring stop signs altogether has significantly decreased, again making it safer for pedestrian crossings. 9/1/2024 10:05 AM
118 Too wide 9/1/2024 8:58 AM
119 Narrow path to pass cars in opposing direction 9/1/2024 8:50 AM 120 The curve extension narrows the roads and sometimes I feel like I’m going to get hit by the oncoming car
9/1/2024 7:23 AM
121 Too many large trucks and SUVs that extensions don’t fit realistically. Almost got my car scraped multiple instances trying to squeeze in an already narrow street 9/1/2024 4:59 AM
122 I love how it gives a buffer between potential bikers/walkers and vehicles. 9/1/2024 3:21 AM 123 The constriction of the vehicular traffic lanes makes it difficult for larger vehicles to navigate turns. Many times I had to back up to allow another vehicle to complete its turn. 9/1/2024 1:57 AM
124 They are ugly and in the way of people walking 8/31/2024 11:42 PM 125 Trying to go down the street when someone is going the other direction makes it in possible I'm always concerned the other driver is going to hit my car. 8/31/2024 6:04 PM
126 Seemed to make it more difficult to navigate some already narrow sections of roadway. 8/31/2024 5:43 PM 127 Disturbing and intrusive 8/31/2024 5:17 PM
Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
128 Too narrow and claustrophobic. 8/31/2024 4:59 PM
129 Trucks can’t make turns, if someone is just a little off its mark no one can pass them. 8/31/2024 4:33 PM 130 Streets are narrowed down with curb extensions more chance of accident. Hard to drive for two cars to pass in both ways at the same time, very bad idea 8/31/2024 4:21 PM
131 The front- left corner of my car has very nearly been clipped by cars approaching the intersection as I turn left or right on a north-south street crossing Clifton. 8/31/2024 3:36 PM
132 Another untested waste of money. 8/31/2024 3:28 PM
133 Helps keep cars in line and away from pedestrians on the corners 8/31/2024 3:23 PM 134 Less ugly. 8/31/2024 2:57 PM
135 I primarily like that it looks like something that is going to make me feel safer, especially for biking. I like that there is opportunity to beautify the materials used even more (for example, the use of native plants in large planters/guards).
8/31/2024 2:41 PM
136 Makes the road feel smaller. Again, a waste of money. People still drive like they always do. 8/31/2024 2:39 PM 137 It's another way to block traffic 8/31/2024 2:08 PM 138 I’ve lived in the area a long time and I walk and drive daily. I still see people running the stop signs and I think police enforcement would help but this project has been enormously helpful overall in slowing people down. But there’s still too much traffic on Clifton. It’s backed up from La cienega to Willaman during rush hour.
8/31/2024 1:53 PM
139 If they have any impact that’s good. Not disruptive I don’t think 8/31/2024 1:24 PM 140 Doesn’t seem like it’s providing any more safety than the sidewalk already did 8/31/2024 1:12 PM 141 Everything 8/31/2024 11:24 AM
142 Difficulty for two cars to pass each other on the lane, leaving one car in the middle of the intersection, waiting for the other car to move through. They take up too much lane space.

Even worse when someone comes through on a bicycle. Creating dangerous driving conditions for all.
8/31/2024 10:44 AM
143 They are ugly looking. They do not slow traffic or reduce traffic 8/31/2024 8:47 AM 144 I live on the corner of Stanley/Clifton. These extensions have destroyed the esthetic of the street, it’s been very dirty street cleaning can’t get to it. Creates narrower streets and more issues
8/31/2024 1:13 AM
145 They are ugly and they make the car lanes very narrow to allow more space for the very minimal amount of foot traffic. There is plenty of space for pedestrians, this is a bad solution to a problem that didn’t exist.
8/31/2024 12:28 AM
146 I think they are very nice and uniquely designed. 8/30/2024 9:22 PM 147 They help keep the neighborhood safe (drivers have to slow down). 8/30/2024 8:22 PM 148 Love the plants- adds warmth and charm to neighborhood 8/30/2024 7:38 PM 149 The streets are now too narrow and making turns onto streets is more difficult, especially when there is an oncoming car waiting at the stop sign.
8/30/2024 7:36 PM
150 I feel like people are bad at driving and don't know how to take the turn wide enough to make the smaller gap
8/30/2024 7:32 PM
151 Slows the cars down 8/30/2024 6:33 PM
152 Not enough room for 2 vehicles. Other cars have hit my side view mirror trying to get by. Also bikes have to swing out into the car lane, and this is very dangerous. 8/30/2024 6:23 PM
153 If a truck is stopped at the stop sign, it makes it more challenging for a large car to turn. 8/30/2024 5:09 PM 154 Narrow street, reduce speeds, stop me from being killed on my bike 8/30/2024 4:57 PM 155 Same as above - we need help from our city to make our roads safer, and this measure helps. 8/30/2024 4:36 PM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
156 No comment 8/30/2024 4:33 PM
157 Nothing like about it, horrible 8/30/2024 4:29 PM
158 My observation is that they make absolutely no difference in speed and stopping compared to before installation. Cars turning right are compelled to swing wide to be sure to avoid scraping the extention pilons which can force them into oncoming traffic (by measurement that should not be necessary but it happens nevertheless). They are unattractive. 8/30/2024 3:54 PM
159 cars have to make sharper turns, you have to avoid hitting cars going the opposite direction when your making a turn because there is no room. waste of time. 8/30/2024 12:44 PM
160 These do the intended purpose a little more. It keeps pedestrians safe on the corner and makes cars slow down a little.
8/30/2024 9:59 AM
161 Very difficult to drive. 8/30/2024 9:20 AM
162 Sidewalks seem safer with curb extensions 8/30/2024 4:25 AM 163 Sorry but the whole look is ugly. Looks like a parking lot. Although my kids like the white plastic cones instead of yellow I suppose. Nothing concrete though please. 8/30/2024 3:45 AM
164 LIKE: nothing DISLIKE: parking is a disaster, no turns, no u-turns, two cars cannot pass easily, curb extensions are too wide, lots of honking, ambulance and police cannot access or park, trash pickup cannot reach, amazon delivery cannot stop off, door dash and uber and UPS cannot double park, calming corners create less parking spots, u-turns area attempted but makes terrible traffic backups, street cleaning can't get to the gutters due to the temporary pop ups and weeds growing by the sidewalk, after the rains in the winter/spring the gutters were backing up, bikers do not have safety in the lane. 8/29/2024 9:36 PM
165 they are a pain 8/29/2024 9:06 PM
166 Keeps pedestrians safe 8/29/2024 8:36 PM
167 Indifferent 8/29/2024 6:26 PM
168 Worse than circles - space for two cars to pass one another - have seen many near collisions and found very difficult. Especially if a van or truck is driving through at the same time - too narrow.
8/29/2024 5:31 PM
169 Confusing the drivers. Not helping in lowering the speed of the cars. 8/29/2024 4:48 PM 170 They accomplished the job they were set out to do and they’re attractive. 8/29/2024 4:27 PM 171 The plants. 8/29/2024 4:20 PM
172 It slows traffic down. 8/29/2024 3:24 PM
173 Cars are forced to slow down; some even see the stop signs and stop. 8/29/2024 2:57 PM 174 N/A 8/29/2024 2:34 PM
175 They make the streets too narrow. They are causing many near miss accidents. They are ugly and very cheap looking. The street is narrow enough, this further narrowing is dangerous and keeps delivery trucks and ambulances and emergency vehicles from traveling safely. 8/29/2024 2:04 PM
176 Ugly, has made no differenc in traffic 8/29/2024 2:01 PM 177 I like the fact that they exist as I think it forces cars to pay more attention at the intersections.

Again, wondering if there is a way to improve the aesthetics when/if these become permanent so as to maintain the neighborhood value. I did see that these did lesson the traffice and more importantly the speed of travel, especially during the evening hours when all the cut through from Wilshire to La Cienga happens.

180 would like to see more of them in bh please! 8/29/2024 12:58 PM 181 Curb extensions help when people are trying to cut in on a right hand turn. And they narrow the street enough that it makes drivers more aware of how they are driving on the streets 8/29/2024 12:47 PM
Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
182 They slow down aggressive drivers. 8/29/2024 12:46 PM 183 It sucks 8/29/2024 12:45 PM
184 It's nice to have a combination of both the traffic circles and the curb extensions. 8/29/2024 12:42 PM 185 The curb extensions limit the available street space for bicycle riders and pedestrians. It is more dangerous for bicycle riders and pedestrians. It limits visual awareness of bicyclists and pedestrians and does not affect car drivers because they essential have the same street configuration as previously.
8/29/2024 12:28 PM
186 They don't seem to do anything 8/29/2024 12:28 PM
187 I wish we implemented curb extensions in every corner of the city. 8/29/2024 12:25 PM 188 Neither like or dislike. I'm waiting to see if someone not paying attention smashes into them. 8/29/2024 12:24 PM 189 Safer for walking! 8/29/2024 12:20 PM
190 i haven't noticed them 8/29/2024 12:16 PM
191 They're stupid and make no sense. Two large cars can't pass each other. It only causes a problem and worse traffic.
8/29/2024 11:07 AM
192 They narrow the road too much and that make it’s dangerous. Need the design to be less intrusive on these
8/29/2024 9:42 AM
193 Ugly And looks like trash Hard to move around it try to not hit the coming car 8/29/2024 8:51 AM 194 They tighten the street so cars are much closer when they cross each other, potentially causing an accident if someone has trouble judging distance. 8/29/2024 7:32 AM
195 Hard for two cars to fit through if one car is in the middle 8/29/2024 7:19 AM 196 Not enough space between vehicles when turning inside the intersection at the same time.

Possible sideswipe with other cars or with the extended curb. 8/28/2024 10:08 PM
197 Unsightly and makes it harder to drive in the neighborhood. 8/28/2024 9:33 PM 198 I think they have been effective but it is sometimes difficult to get through because large vehicles take up the whole road.
8/28/2024 9:08 PM
199 They are awful to look at. They don’t match Beverly Hills. I’m shocked this cheap design even passed your committee. Fire whatever vendor put this eyesore of an idea together. I don’t want my tax dollars paying for this poorly executed idea.
8/28/2024 8:56 PM
200 Ease traffic 8/28/2024 7:54 PM
201 Blocking the road And very ugly look Makes the traffic worse 8/28/2024 7:47 PM 202 Something permanent that’s actually integrated into the sidewalk would be preferred. 8/28/2024 7:34 PM 203 makes driving MUCH more dangerous by decreasing the width of the street makes left and right turns harder
8/28/2024 7:02 PM
204 The plastic poles are the issue. I like the planters, the poles make it very difficult to make turns, leave no room for human error.
8/28/2024 6:45 PM
205 Make the street too narrow for cars to go in and drive out simultaneously, 8/28/2024 6:38 PM 206 They make it harder to make turns and to leave enough space from oncoming traffic 8/28/2024 6:31 PM 207 Same as traffic circles 8/28/2024 6:17 PM
208 They look nice, they give pedestrians a little bit more space, and as a driver, it hasn’t increased the difficulty of driving at all. I see people blowing through the stop signs all the time so it’s a good way to slow them down.
8/28/2024 4:56 PM
209 Aesthetically displeasing especially as they get worn by cars brushing against them. Also, the various plants etc make it harder to see dogs on leash with a pedestrian 8/28/2024 1:58 PM
210 I like the look & believe they are helping with traffic. 8/28/2024 10:40 AM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
211 People keep pushing the planter boxes around. 8/27/2024 10:46 PM 212 Takes up too much space 8/27/2024 12:45 PM
213 It makes pedestrian crosses so much safer! 8/27/2024 11:28 AM 214 during traffic large cars create a dangerous situation/ and so do people not paying attention. 8/27/2024 8:34 AM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation

1 Do nothing !!! Stop spending taxpayers money 10/4/2024 11:47 AM 2 At the roundabout on Clifton the turn is very narrow. I have witnessed drivers cheat the round-about and take the faster turn. The roads have become too narrow with the placement of the roundabout + curb extensions. All of the flower posts are ugly and cheap thereby devaluing our properties. Finally, I have a disabled daughter that uses a wheelchair. She has right to access to the streets which you have now blocked her access. It is hard to cross the roads with the curb-extensions & planter boxes. The law has minimum distances required.

The entire beauty of Beverly Hills is its wide roads and you continue to narrow them in order to invite outsiders to come into our residential neighborhoods in an environment of high crime. 9/26/2024 10:06 AM

3 Corners should definitely be removed. They are extremely dangerous. If you want to keep the circles, they should be less than half the size of what they are right now. 9/25/2024 4:44 PM
4 Keep things as they are currently 9/16/2024 3:15 PM
5 Keep the circle and widen the corners for more ease of movement. 9/15/2024 4:51 PM 6 Keep traffic circles with more permanent materials 9/15/2024 8:56 AM 7 If there must be something, only traffic circles. 9/14/2024 11:11 AM 8 Add reflective tape to crosswalks for night time. That’s when I see the most people blow through stop signs.
9/10/2024 5:01 PM
9 Keep the traffic circles only 9/10/2024 1:45 PM
10 Try speed bumps and put cameras up to site those who do not stop at stop signs. 9/9/2024 10:56 AM 11 It was safe how it was before for both vehicles and pedestrians. 9/8/2024 8:07 PM 12 All they do is cause a risk of collision. 9/8/2024 8:06 PM 13 Removal without a replacement would be acceptable. 9/8/2024 2:28 PM 14 Love them 9/7/2024 3:55 PM

20 The landscaped traffic circles are the best. Install as many of those as you can. They are better than the curb extensions. But the curb extensions also look very nice with the planters.

It's all good and the landscaped traffic circles are the best. Thank you. 9/3/2024 2:54 PM
21 Some drivers are not following the rules and driving all the way around. I almost got hit walking with my baby
9/2/2024 6:03 PM
22 PARKING ENFORCEMENT SHOULD GIVE OUT TICKETS FOR SPEEDING/WRECKLESS DRIVING. THAT WILL DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM RACING DOWN OUR STREET. 9/2/2024 4:18 PM
23 It doesnt work. People dont stop, and bad drivers that dont know the rules are worss drivers when curve balls are thrown at them
9/2/2024 11:56 AM
24 More signs painted on the street (on the ground) that say: "SLOW DOWN" or "REDUCE SPEED."
9/1/2024 2:11 PM
25 What is the measurable outcome objective that you are trying to attain. If it is to reduce spped of cars traveling at high sppeds which is very common then put in speed bumps especially before the stop sign.
9/1/2024 2:00 PM
26 I would like the circles with more permanent and solid obstacles and no curb extension. Just make sure people can’t just blow through the circle at speed. SM has some of these with speed humps adjacent.
8/31/2024 2:57 PM
27 Keep going with the project and use materials that also aesthetically improve the space including native plants, community artwork/murals, etc
8/31/2024 2:41 PM
28 Definitely think more circles would slow people down but the worst street is Willaman. If you extend curbs keep the pylons (?) or something else vertical for visibility. 8/31/2024 1:53 PM

32 you are trying to solve an in issue without solving the main problem. The light does not give enough time for cars to leave, and because of the traffic backup and each intersection having a stop sign, it does not give a smooth transition for cars to go through. You need probably about 5 to 10 seconds of more green light, and probably having the 1st stop sign facing la cienega a yield sign.
8/30/2024 12:44 PM
33 I suppose IF there must be one of the two choices, to keep the limited traffic circles but not add anymore. Absolutely no curb extensions! Hideous and unpleasing to say the least... not to mention so many drawbacks and flaws in the curb extension practicality. Better use of the city's time and money should have been spend on placement of STOP signs in the street instead of behind trees.
8/29/2024 9:36 PM
34 Humps would work much better. Will stop Cars with crazy loud noise and racing. We have them every night. Very dangerous.
8/29/2024 4:48 PM
35 The city treats this neighborhood like it is just some buffer zone from LA. This ridiculous project would never be done in the more affluent parts of the City. We get no traffic enforcement east of Robertson. We are treated like third class citizens 8/29/2024 2:04 PM
36 Keep the traffic circles and remove the curb extensions 8/29/2024 12:28 PM 37 Curb extensions are too wide they intrude on driving space make them narrower for safety of drivers
8/29/2024 9:42 AM
38 Police needs to patrol this area. There are too many drivers blowing through stop signs without even stopping. As a pedestrian, I have been subject to many close calls and almost hit a half dozen times this year alone

5 Clifton is full of cars every morning and afternoon. I don't like the way this city gives so much deference to drivers from Los Angeles to speed through our residential streets. Please slow them down. Any way to slow drivers down is welcome, such as traffic circles. Please add more.
9/27/2024 4:27 PM
6 I think these efforts have been very successful, you should keep the existing effect with out unnecessary budgetary costs. I would prioritize more of these over spending a ton of money on enhancing them.

9/27/2024 11:27 AM

10 I would never put concrete instead of flexible delineators. The benefit of the pedestrian would be minimal because drivers are quite slow already and there is not enough people walking to protect. On the other hand, drivers are aware of delineators no matter the material. Concrete would damage cars and needs to be replaced in case of small collisions. Same thing for the vases. Plastic with water is perfect.
9/25/2024 12:47 PM
11 The traffic circles are fine, but the curb extensions need to be removed. 9/25/2024 10:50 AM 12 NOBODY BICYCLES AROUND. Just outsiders looking to break into our houses. If you want to bike go to Santa Monica pier. I'm sure not a single one of you board members in Beverly Hills even owns a bike. 19 1. First, get rid of the traffic circles. They are confusing for drivers and not achieving much.

Most people assume if you have a traffic circle you yield to traffic entering the circle, and you do not need to stop. 2. My view is that during busy times of the day, the traffic on Clifton heading east to La Cienega is worse than before. Before this study project, there were often long lines of cars waiting on Clifton for the light to change at Clifton and La Cienega. The line of cars could be several blocks long from La Cienega past Le Doux, or even Stanley. But now with the traffic calming devices, that same line of cars seems even longer, and the traffic circle makes it more confusing and dangerous. Some cars are not waiting at the intersections so cross-traffic can pass, they are sitting and waiting while they are stopped in the traffic circle. 3.

Third, to slow cars down, install speed humps on the blocks between the stop signs, or even install milled-in rumble strips right before stop signs (I know they are not regularly used this way, but placing them there will provide notice to drivers who don't stop that they should).

Combine these with police doing regular, random checks to see that drivers are actually stopping at the stop signs, and ticketing those who don't. 9/13/2024 6:13 PM
20 I wish there were more of these slow down methods on all roads in Beverly Hills. Many drivers just ignore the stop signs and barrel through - maybe add cameras as an added deterrent 9/12/2024 5:58 PM
21 Huge waste of money and time. Those curb extensions????? Ridiculous. Put stop sign cameras, if you must. I agree, cars often do not stop. Tell pedestrians to stop looking at their phones while crossing streets.

23 I love this. It makes me feel more safe as a pedestrian. Add reflective tape to crosswalks for night time. That’s when I see the most people blow through stop signs. 9/10/2024 5:01 PM
24 At first, the curb extensions and traffic circles felt difficult to navigate as cars had to maneuver tighter spaces (and I even wondered if these additions would cause more accidents). But a more long term observation has led me to conclude that they deter traffic and make the streets safer as cars are forced to slow down.
9/10/2024 1:32 PM
25 Really did not work well. Why don’t you remove it for 6 months and see what happens. Do a reverse study.
9/10/2024 9:05 AM
26 This is a horribly conceived project. I was nearly hit by a FedEx truck that couldn't negotiate the turn with the narrowed streets. I was nearly "t-boned" by a driver that couldn't understand the traffic circle and turned before it almost hitting me. All that has been created is a cheap looking ugly mess and a near unusable street. Horrific planning. 9/9/2024 4:35 PM

42 I grew up on N Le Doux and currently live on N Carson. My thoughts on Traffic Circles are that, as built (with both a stop sign and traffic circle), it is a net negative for these reasons:

Increased Confusion: Traffic circles can be confusing for drivers unfamiliar with navigating them, leading to abrupt stops or hesitation that disrupt traffic flow. This can increase the likelihood of fender benders or near-miss accidents, particularly in a neighborhood with mixed driving skills. Congestion at Peak Times: Rather than easing traffic, roundabouts can cause unnecessary delays during peak hours as drivers yield or struggle to find the right entry point.

This can lead to backups, particularly on busy streets like Robertson and La Cienega Boulevards. Difficulty for Pedestrians: Traffic circles make it harder for pedestrians to cross safely - this is especially concerning in a residential area where families with children and elderly pedestrians may frequently walk. Limited Effectiveness: While traffic circles may reduce speeds at the immediate intersection, they do little to address speeding along the rest of the street. Cars often speed up as soon as they leave the roundabout, defeating the purpose of calming traffic. If the stop signs were removed from the traffic circles and it was built like other typical traffic circles (which regulate traffic through yielding rather than stopping completely), it would be neutral or potentially slightly positive. The curb extensions on the other hand are a net negative for drivers and pedestrians. My reasons: Increased Congestion:

Curb extensions narrow the roadway, making it more difficult for cars to maneuver and increasing congestion in an already dense area. Delivery trucks, ride-shares, or emergency vehicles often struggle to navigate through these narrowed streets. Potential Safety Hazards:

Curb extensions reduce visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. They force drivers to make sharper turns, increasing the risk of vehicles hitting other vehicles, the curb, or pedestrians at crosswalks. Aesthetic Disruption: These devices are visually unappealing and disrupt the aesthetics of the neighborhood.

43 Made the neighborhood safer. 9/3/2024 5:19 PM
44 Thank you for being concerned with what residents think. I think there is a mistake below because there are people like myself who live on a street which intersects with Clifton, but the street is between Robertson and Rexford, not Robertson and La Cienega. So having to state that I live in a different part of BH is not quite accurate because we are very close to the Clifton corridor.
9/3/2024 2:54 PM
45 PLEASE PUT IT BACK TO HOW IT WAS. THERE IS NO POSITIVE VALUE IN ADDING THESE EXTENSIONS AND CIRCLES. IT MAKES THE NEIGHBORHOOD MORE DANGEROUS AND EVERYONE IS ANNOYED BY IT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REMOVE

IT AND PUT IT BACK HOW IT WAS

46 Terminate it now. I drive on Clifton Way several times a week, on my way home. I live on Swall Drive, in Beverly Hills.
9/2/2024 10:51 PM
47 Some drivers not adhering to the rules 9/2/2024 6:03 PM 48 See to ask GPS companies to assess the area as a no drive through area. Most people that come through these areas are tourists that have now ide where they are going. "Ock"/stop the traffic from entering as opposed to slowing it down and hurting others that live here. 9/2/2024 4:22 PM
49 People are still driving like maniacs. I live on the corner of Clifton/Arnaz - no one stops at the stop sign/traffic circle. There have been multiple cars zoom around the circle/race each other.

It's ridiculous.

50 I hope they last and are in cement not plastic 9/2/2024 2:27 PM 51 This project is the biggest boondogle I've ever seen Total waste of money and does nothing to reduce the amount of traffic the speed of the traffic and it creates a safety hazard 9/2/2024 1:01 PM
52 I have used the entire length of clifton way for my daily walks and rollerblading for 13 years. I 9/2/2024 11:56 AM Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
can confidently say that fewer than 25% of drivers even come close to a full stop. Most roll thru. Most right hand turmers just look left and roll thru without looking for walkers. The most infuriating thing is people that blow thru stop signs on clifton pull up to their homes right down the block. They have no concern for neighbors, and have no fear of consequence. I have never ONCE seen someone pulled over for a failure to stop. Its a disgrace. 53 As a resident walking through these streets it is way more safe 9/2/2024 9:23 AM 54 I think the traffic circles and curb extensions are an attractive, useful asset and help make the residential streets safer. There are many young children in the neighborhood, and this effort helps create peace of mind when we're driving and walking. Cars are forced to slow down. 9/1/2024 11:13 PM
55 I am so pleased that you are doing this!!! 9/1/2024 6:59 PM 56 We would like to have the same on N. Clark Drive between Wilshire and Burton Way to reduce vehicle speeds, minimize cut-through traffic, improve livability for residents, and create a more comfortable route for people walking and biking. N. Clark Drive has become a dangerous racetrack, as you know there are many children, families and elderies living in this area. 9/1/2024 2:11 PM
57 I do not know if the demonstration was properly planned using 3D Modelling (virtual twin) technology before implementation. I do not know if you took into consideration the available turning radius, width of cars especially SUVs and that cars entring the 4-way top interescetion, very often the cars are further away from the extended curbside thereby significantly reducing the available turning radius. Again if the objective is to reduce cars from speeding then speed bumps are great for this.
9/1/2024 2:00 PM
58 Please reverse to the original way. 9/1/2024 1:28 PM 59 Very nice design 9/1/2024 12:45 PM
60 Please install these on Charleville and Gregory! 9/1/2024 10:55 AM 61 Initially my neighbors’ feedback was skeptical but many of us are pleased with how well the goals of the program have been met.
9/1/2024 10:05 AM
62 Instead of improving things you made it worse. Please put it back the way it was. 8/31/2024 6:04 PM 63 3 streets intersect at Will Rogers Park and with stop signs. Navigating this intersection is like a zoo. A traffic circle would be suitable for that intersection and yet nothing there. But the city likes to finger less expensive areas of the city.
8/31/2024 5:17 PM
64 Please remove the curb extensions, more chance of accidents , you have narrowed the street. 8/31/2024 4:21 PM 65 This was a good effort for minimal benefit but maybe fine tuning will make it a model for the future if we can get the formula refined.
8/31/2024 2:57 PM
66 Thank you so much for these improvements to our neighborhood! People still speed and run the stop signs when there isn’t a lot of traffic but overall as a resident, pedestrian and a driver in this area daily for 30+ years think it’s had a hugely positive impact and looks great! 8/31/2024 1:53 PM
67 I don’t see any reason to discontinue these. If the goal is to continue them, they probably should become permanent. I don’t see it as any adverse impact on people living in the area. 8/31/2024 1:24 PM
68 I want to see the data collected on the affectiveness of the circle and extension. They are both very ugly to look at.
8/31/2024 8:47 AM
69 Stop wasting money on this nonsense. The streets need fewer obstructions. 8/31/2024 12:28 AM 70 Dismantling the project would be an unequivocal misstep. The city has already allocated its funds to establish this initiative, and I believe it should remain as is. However, there are many beautiful trees, and I hope that particular tree could be replaced with a flowering variety. 8/30/2024 9:22 PM
71 There has been a significant improvement since these were installed. It’s not perfect, but it’s much safer for the community. I would say this has been very successful. 8/30/2024 8:22 PM
72 Love this project please continue. 8/30/2024 7:38 PM 73 they do not improve the situation - as the problem is the light at La Cienega (it is too short and the lanes don't allow for people to go across easily if there is a car turning left on to La Cienega. The traffic circle actually confuses drivers more than eases any traffic issues. 8/30/2024 7:36 PM
Community Survey: Clifton Traffic Calming Evaluation
74 I really like the traffic circles and would like them at every intersection in areas like this. The unfortunate reality of Beverly Hills is that too many people drive cars that are prohibitively wide (eg the Cadillac Escalade) for this turn and it's going to upset drivers. I don't believe we should design the city around a few peoples cars, but I also believe an angry driver is a dangerous driver and I am more scared of the road rage the curb extensions might cause. The round abouts, however, are excellent. They forced people to slow down and they protect cyclists and pedestrians from drivers running through stop signs in a dangerous way, being T boned. 8/30/2024 7:32 PM
75 We should have these all over the city-our streets feel like highways 8/30/2024 6:33 PM 76 Get rid of this stuff it causes so many issues 8/30/2024 4:29 PM 77 At curb extension bicycles are forced into the traffic lane instead of being able to hug the curb.

When pedestrian starts crossing at curb extensions cars seem to think the pedestrian is still considered on the sidewalk and begin to go.
8/30/2024 3:54 PM
78 I think everyone could have told you the demo was a waste. 8/30/2024 12:44 PM 79 This project feels like a waste of city money. These streets were not that busy and just made driving more frustrating for residents.
8/30/2024 9:59 AM
80 Creating traffic jams during rush hours. 8/30/2024 9:20 AM 81 Ever since the WAZE app brought drivers speeding through Clifton, it has been difficult to bike in peak times while competing with speeding vehicles avoiding Wilshire. Please install more traffic circles. Thank you.
8/30/2024 4:25 AM
82 Much more traffic on Clifton and honking. It’s congested. I rather drive along Colgate in LA than on Clifton. So I guess it worked for you guys but made my neighborhood a mess after 25 years in my home. Dislike the entire project. Also can’t pass big trucks or delivery vehicles at the curb extensions.
8/30/2024 3:45 AM
83 I suppose IF there must be one of the two choices, to keep the limited traffic circles but not add anymore.
84 Consider this project very unsatisfactory. I use these streets often for doctor appointments. I find the spacing dangerous and the streets should be returned to as before. 8/29/2024 5:31 PM
85 The project is a waste. It is accomplishing nothing but making travel more difficult and it is cheap and ugly looking. A complete waste
8/29/2024 2:04 PM
86 Very good project for Clifton Way although I still maintain that Clifton should be turned into a one-way street heading east starting at Doheny or Robertson Boulevard. That would prevent the La Cienega traffic heading south from cutting through on our streets to avoid the La Cienega and Wilshire light.
8/29/2024 12:47 PM
87 I don't have a lot of experience on Clifton. I do drive it from time to time. I live south on Le Doux South of Wilshire. However, the times I've traveled on Clifton, about once a week, cars are still running the stop signs, just like they do at Le Doux and Gregory. Sometimes they don't even slow down. I've almost been hit when traveling eastbound on Clifton more than once by cars running the stop signs. I'm not sure any of these traffic calming devices are doing anything. If anything the traffic circles are more effective than curb extensions. Why has nothing been done on Gregory Way between La Cienega and Robertson. During rush hour cars are backed up on Gregory Way. People run stop signs, the neighborhood South of Wilshire has become extremely dangerous. The city doesn't seem to care much about this part of town. 8/29/2024 12:28 PM
88 Please take it away 8/29/2024 8:51 AM
89 More police! 8/29/2024 7:32 AM
90 Please fix La coeniga park instead of wasting time and money on such a project, this is something the community can actually benefit from

93 Please just put it back they way it was whose idea was this 8/28/2024 7:47 PM 94 The intersections are TOO narrow now. I have almost been in several accidents because of this change. When A car or truck turns left or right onto a side street the road is not wide enough.
8/28/2024 7:02 PM
95 I would love to see a traffic circle at every other intersection and planter only curb extenders at the others. I’d also like to see one at La peer and clifton 8/28/2024 6:45 PM
96 Testing should be over once the community speaks 8/28/2024 6:31 PM 97 I wish it would make cars stop at stop signs along Clifton. But 7 out of 10 cars run the stop signs all along Clifton. Beverly Hills could make truck loads of money if they would start giving tickets for cars running the stop signs.

1 Does not helo at all, causes more problems 10/5/2025 8:49 AM 2 As someone who both drives on Clifton and walks through the Clifton/Willaman intersection daily (and most often with a baby stroller), I am grateful that the traffic circle keeps vehicles to a reasonable speed and overall makes me feel safer. Clifton/Willaman is a high traffic intersection due to the Wilshire/Willaman light, so I highly value the traffic circle. 10/2/2025 10:50 AM
3 I LOVE the traffic circle and wish MORE would be done to slow down traffic, such as speed bumps.
10/2/2025 10:47 AM
4 If statistics say this helps, I mind this the least. I prefer no traffic calming entirely. The extensions, narrow are preferable, the one at LeDoux and another are so bulky and distracting, and honestly if i were a bike rider, that would be more dangerous if those obstacles were in my way -
9/30/2025 8:01 PM
5 Too wie 9/30/2025 12:53 PM
6 Good for a busy intersection. Slows people down. 9/30/2025 10:25 AM 7 I LIKE THIS PLAN FOR ROUND ABOUT BECAUSE IT KEEPS THE TRAFFIC MOVING 9/28/2025 7:50 PM 8 The previous type of interesection worked perfectly. No need to change it. 9/27/2025 11:12 AM 9 It doesn’t help 9/19/2025 5:01 PM
10 Traffic circle is a risk to pedestrians. Traffic circle addresses a problem that ceased to exist 6+ months ago.
9/19/2025 10:44 AM
11 I prefer traffic circles to curb extensions. However, I think traffic circles should only be about every 4 blocks.
9/18/2025 5:24 PM
12 safer for drivers and pedestrians 9/17/2025 4:26 PM
13 slows down traffic on both Clifton and Willaman 9/17/2025 3:15 PM 14 Creates more traffic actually 9/17/2025 2:48 PM
15 easy to move around 9/17/2025 2:38 PM
16 I believe traffic circles slow traffic much better than curb extensions 9/17/2025 2:22 PM 17 traffic circle will slow down moving vehicles to a safer speed. Excessive vehicle speed and disregard of traffic signs are common place in Beverly Hills as there is little to regard for compliance as penalties are seldom enforced.
9/17/2025 2:04 PM
18 I believe it effectively slows down auto traffic. 9/17/2025 2:00 PM 19 Narrower roads. Not easy to maneuver. Pose a safety hazard. 9/16/2025 10:19 AM 20 I like the traffic circles because It helps slow the rate of people cutting through the neighborhood and it adds beautification to the neighborhood as well. There has always been a tendency for people to speed down Clifton cutting through to bypass Robertson / Wilshire / La Cienega traffic so this has slowed that down some. I have lived here for years and recall a few cars flipping over on Clifton due to speeding.
9/16/2025 8:36 AM
21 Makes no sense to have stop signs at traffic circles. Defeats the whole reason for a traffic circle. Traffic circles do not have stop signs. They ease flow of traffic by giving way to cars approaching from the left.
9/15/2025 8:01 PM
Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study: 6-month Extension 22 I absolutely hate them. It makes things more difficult. 9/15/2025 7:51 PM 23 People don’t know how to use it 9/15/2025 7:05 PM
24 As with all the circles, the plants and "how-to" signs prevent drivers arriving from opposite directions from seeing if either has a turn signal, regardless of who arrives first. This way if Driver 1 is planning to make a left, Driver 2 knows they have wait for Driver 1 to execute the turn fully; otherwise Driver 2 could, under normal stop-sign rules, drive on. 9/14/2025 12:06 PM
25 When cars try to turn left, it becomes dangerous for the car on the opposite side to go straight because a lot of times they assume the other car is also going straight and they are about to hit each other
9/11/2025 5:54 PM
26 Its too confusing even Waymo cars are confused when they get to this intersection. It is creating more traffic on high traffic hours.
9/10/2025 8:51 PM
27 Safer and more professional 9/4/2025 10:10 AM
28 It confuses some drivers 8/28/2025 1:29 PM
29 I live on Clifton BETWEEN clark and Swall and the car just don't rush in any more, love to see one on Clifton and Swall too much speed there.
8/27/2025 7:49 AM
30 The planters make some of the intersections feel fairly tight. One of the biggest issue I have with them is that will all of distractions with the intersections parking additional parking spaces should be removed to enhance visibility.
8/26/2025 3:14 PM
31 Enough space to turn 8/26/2025 11:48 AM
32 It does nothing to deter people running stop signs, however, it requires you to negotiate the intersection at a slower speed. Still people are running stop signs. 8/26/2025 10:34 AM
33 If the object is to slow down traffic cars do not slow down. I see just as many cars going through without stopping as before. I find the bollards more restricint. 8/24/2025 4:23 PM
34 Roundabout Confusion. Slows traffic. 8/24/2025 9:21 AM 35 I like that drivers are paying much more attention and take their head away form their phones when seeing these roundabouts. From the other side, if a car and a pedestrian are going in the same direction and crossing a road at the same time, lots of drivers are being stalled avoiding moving simultaneously with a pedestrian, resulting in additional congestion. 8/20/2025 3:10 PM
36 you are creating more traffic 8/20/2025 1:33 PM
37 They force drivers to slow down and be careful 8/20/2025 12:45 PM 38 Stops the fast cars from racing 8/20/2025 11:55 AM
39 The entire project is not practical and disturbing the driving skills. This type of sq is suitable for wider streets. It does confuse the drivers and cause accidents. 8/19/2025 11:21 AM
40 Movement is easier 8/18/2025 6:28 PM
41 I like how it slows down traffic which is great when I'm out walking and I need to cross this intersection.
8/18/2025 2:45 PM
42 it's hard to make right turns now and feels super crammed. People also get confused. 8/18/2025 11:40 AM 43 I am writing to you about the dangerous traffic circles installed on Clifton Way. My family and I have lived at 162 N. Willaman Drive for 41 years. During the public comment period about the “traffic calming” installations on Clifton Way, I wrote about the dangers of the narrowed street corners on Clifton and Willaman and also made comments about the traffic circles. My comments included: • They do nothing to decrease the rush hour traffic on Willaman Drive. In fact, they have added to the afternoon rush hour congestion. • Traffic circles are installed worldwide to increase the flow of traffic by not requiring a stop sign or traffic signal at an intersection. They work very well and facilitate the flow of traffic very well in every country I have encounter them. However, the traffic circles on Clifton are added to existing 4 way stop signs! To what end? These traffic circles on Clifton do not facilitate the flow of traffic –they impede the flow of traffic. The do nothing to calm the traffic flow…the stop signs to that. • They are confusing to drivers—especially older drivers. I have witnessed serval near accidents because of the confusion the traffic circles cause. The City has all but admitted this confusion 8/18/2025 11:12 AM
Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study: 6-month Extension by posted “How to navigate a traffic circle” signs at the corners of Willaman Dr and Clifton Way. By the way, we all laugh these signs as no driver can read them while approaching a traffic circle! The Traffic Circles are Dangerous I have recently almost had 2 accidents (one just now!!) while parked across the street from my home because the traffic circles cause drivers to veer sharply around the traffic circle, thus hiding the traffic coming South on Willaman from a driver parked on Willaman facing South who is preparing to pull away from the curb. Please see the attached drawing (pardon my artwork!). Let me further explain: If I am in Car 1, and there is a Car 2 parking behind me, I cannot see the cars coming south on Willaman from Clifton because the traffic circle forces such southbound traffic to swerve very far the right to go around the traffic circle. The cars then become hidden from Car 1 because the southbound cars were forced by the traffic circle to be so far the right that they are hidden until the last second. The southbound traffic is hidden from the side view mirror of my car, forcing me to gamble if a car has come around the traffic circle and is proceeding southbound.

This was never the case before the traffic circles were installed as one could easily see in the side view mirror the cars coming southbound on Willaman. I urge the city to remove these traffic circles immediately from Clifton Way and Willaman. They are posing a real danger and serve no purpose other than to confuse drivers and impede traffic. Thank you, and I look forward to your response asap. All the best,
44 It is not necessary. I creates a risk to pedestrians--in certain common situations the planters prevent pedestrian seeing vehicle turn signal and begin crossing thinking the vehicle is going "striaght" across the street
8/18/2025 8:52 AM
45 It makes it much more annoying and difficult to go through the intersection and since there’s a stop sign, it makes it more dangerous because you don’t know if the car that’s coming around the roundabout is making a left or going straight through if you’re at the cross. I’ve had almost many accidents from this traffic circle.
8/17/2025 6:17 PM
46 it is very inconvenient for resident of Willaman Drive, it causes confusion and collision 8/17/2025 5:59 PM 47 Too narrow and hard to see pedestrians crossing the street 8/17/2025 2:17 PM 48 slows down traffic on both Clifton and Willaman 8/17/2025 2:06 PM 49 like that it slows people down 8/17/2025 9:34 AM
50 I prefer the traffic circles over the curb extensions at every corner. I think they are more attractive and slow down traffic much better than the extensions. 8/17/2025 8:21 AM
51 1. Visibility issues - difficult seeing what is directly across the traffic circle. 2. Confusion for pedestrians. Makes it unsafe for them to cross the street 3. Drivers are confused and make incorrect choices 4. Creates gridlock especally in high traffic times 4-6pm Drivers use Clifton Way as an alternative to Wilshire Blvd. 5. Drivers enter the traffic circle without stopping first

6. Drivers enter the traffic circle without yielding the existing drivers. 7. Drivers drive thru the traffic circle too fast 8. Drivers take shortcuts and go the opposite direction. So instead of driving 3/4 around to the right they drive 1/4 the wrong direction to take a short cut 9. They enter the traffic circle when it isn't safe to enter 10. The traffic circles are quite ugly 8/17/2025 8:10 AM
52 This is a beautiful area that I used to walk to get away from traffic, noise pollution, and had a clam, serene atmosphere. These traffic modulation additions disrupt that calmness and distract from its beauty and peace.
8/16/2025 11:14 PM
53 It’s not a traffic circle — it is a 4-way stop with a large obstruction in the middle. If it were truly intended to be a traffic circle, there should be no stop signs. Just yield signs at most. 8/16/2025 9:04 PM
54 It takes away visibility, which could put pedestrians crossing in more harm by not having full visibility of your turns.
8/16/2025 5:30 PM
55 I think it works well, but people are not used to traffic circles, and the signage for how to go around a traffic circle needs to be put in a more visible position. 8/16/2025 5:17 PM
56 I like them, but I’m not sure they reduce vehicular traffic. 8/16/2025 3:45 PM 57 It's better than nothing, but curb extensions are far better and safer for pedestrians because drivers treat the traffic circle as an island and drive right through while a person is still crossing the street! Also, it obscures the vision of some drivers and they make wide left turns while the pedestrian is still crossing.

4 I don't know what curb extension is . I have really no problem with the traffic calming if the intersections had less parked cars close by and enhanced visibility. 8/26/2025 3:14 PM
5 put blinking lights at crosswalks where there are traffic signals at Wilshire and Burton Way. 8/24/2025 4:23 PM 6 speed bumps and stop signs are more effective and less dangerous!!!!! 8/18/2025 11:12 AM 7 Why not add speed bumps? They do not detract from the beauty and peace of this street, but would discourage excessive noise and traffic.

1 All the garbage is gone, the problen is created at la cienega and 1 block west. The traffic light going east west should be green longer and the 1st stop sign should be eliminated or a yield aign
10/5/2025 8:49 AM
2 When driving, the curb extensions make essentially no difference. However, when walking, the curb extensions make me (and my baby stroller) both more visible and more safely distanced to vehicles, particularly to cars trying to take a quick right turn. 10/2/2025 10:50 AM
3 It is so dangerous for pedestrians. Someone is going to die because of how fast cars go on Clifton. The city should be making it MUCH harder for cars to speed so much. The city if Beverly Hills will have blood on their hands of something isn’t done. 10/2/2025 10:47 AM
4 This survey doesn't ask about LeDoux so I will add here that we saw a long back up with the traffic circle at Le Doux which blocks north/south crossing - Mostly, I would like to add that the traffic circles
9/30/2025 8:01 PM
5 Allows traffic to flow at usual pace 9/30/2025 12:53 PM 6 Streets are not as narrow. The curb extension made it very difficult to turn. 9/30/2025 10:25 AM 7 I THINK A ROUND ABOUT CIRCLE WOULD BE MORE EFFICIENT 9/28/2025 7:50 PM 8 curb extensions just make driving more challenging and probably increases traffic 9/27/2025 11:12 AM 9 Easier to navigate 9/19/2025 5:01 PM
10 I like that there are stop signs and no additional measures controls. The intersection is similar to almost all others in residential areas.
9/19/2025 10:44 AM
11 I don't like curb extensions. They make the road too narrow and increase risks of collisions with bicyclists and other cars. If you put them back, please make them narrower 9/18/2025 5:24 PM
12 very dangerous for pedestrians and even drivers (as others can crash into them at higher speeds)
9/17/2025 4:26 PM
13 encourages speeding on the streets & running of stop signs at the intersection 9/17/2025 3:15 PM 14 Driving thru them was so narrow - much safer now. 9/17/2025 2:48 PM 15 nothing 9/17/2025 2:38 PM
16 I don’t like curb extensions at any corner 9/17/2025 2:22 PM 17 Traffic circle would be more prudent in controlling traffic safely. 9/17/2025 2:04 PM 18 No opinion on this. 9/17/2025 2:00 PM
19 Love it, more space easier to navigate. 9/16/2025 10:19 AM 20 I preferred the small curb extensions. They added a nice curb appeal to the neighborhood for pedestrians.
9/16/2025 8:36 AM
21 Why narrow the intersection and reduce visibility by adding plants etc.? 9/15/2025 8:01 PM 22 Looks more open and beautiful and people pass through easily. 9/15/2025 7:51 PM 23 You have more ability to compensate for oversized trucks, poor drivers, and traffic can flow easier because you can take a right and not wait in line 9/15/2025 7:05 PM
24 Nothing. Your own statistics have proven that there's been no meaningful impact on traffic 9/14/2025 12:06 PM Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study: 6-month Extension speed, and without a mindset change by drivers there never will be, nor in any other part of the city.
25 The curb extensions narrow the street too much and cars almost hit each other 9/11/2025 5:54 PM 26 Too confusing 9/10/2025 8:51 PM
27 Much easier and nicer 9/4/2025 10:10 AM
28 No calming device 8/28/2025 1:29 PM

32 It does nothing to deter people running stop signs, however, it requires you to negotiate the intersection at a slower speed. Still people are running stop signs. 8/26/2025 10:34 AM
33 Curb extensions are confusing. Force cars to turn too widely. Circles do not force cars to stop at a stop sign.
8/24/2025 4:23 PM
34 N/A 8/24/2025 9:21 AM
35 this is how we used to have it and it was working fine for many years 8/20/2025 3:10 PM 36 you do not need obstacles all over the city. You are creating more traffic everywhere 8/20/2025 1:33 PM 37 I dislike the speeding along Clifton in general 8/20/2025 12:45 PM 38 It is much easier to turn. Before the removal it was tight and I was scared to hit another car. 8/20/2025 11:55 AM 39 Without the curb is much easier to drive and make turns. 8/19/2025 11:21 AM 40 Ease of movement 8/18/2025 6:28 PM
41 Again, I like how it slowed down traffic, which is great when I'm out walking and I need to cross this intersection.
8/18/2025 2:45 PM
42 again, hard to turn and super crammed 8/18/2025 11:40 AM 43 The streets are narrow, the placement of anything in the street is dangerous!!!! 8/18/2025 11:12 AM 44 I specifically like there is no curb extension. 8/18/2025 8:52 AM 45 It’s normal! 8/17/2025 6:17 PM
46 inconvenient 8/17/2025 5:59 PM
47 Easier to see other cars and pedestrians 8/17/2025 2:17 PM 48 allows faster moving traffic on Clifton and Carson 8/17/2025 2:06 PM 49 Put back curb extensions 8/17/2025 9:34 AM
50 As stated above, I prefer the traffic circles at all intersections 8/17/2025 8:21 AM 51 I like it 8/17/2025 8:10 AM
52 Nothing, I like it much better! 8/16/2025 11:14 PM
53 No obstructions 8/16/2025 9:04 PM
54 Much more open and visibility much more clear. 8/16/2025 5:30 PM 55 Some curb extensions were too large and made making a right hand turn too wide and forced a car to go into oncoming traffic heading in the other direction. With the extensions removed right hand turns can be made much more safely.
8/16/2025 5:17 PM
56 I like the appearance and ease of traffic, circles and narrow curbs. 8/16/2025 3:45 PM 57 It's more dangerous trying to cross the street because sometimes two cars line up at the stop at the same time and one begins to make a right turn as the pedestrian is crossing. 8/16/2025 12:01 PM

1 Causes more problems, its ugly narrows the street and does Not do anything 10/5/2025 8:49 AM 2 I think the original or wider curb extensions do a better job of managing dangerous vehicular speeds.
10/2/2025 10:50 AM
3 Make the curb extensions bigger. Why are we catering to reckless drivers who are constantly on their phones?
10/2/2025 10:47 AM
4 Preferable to the other curb extensions, however, just looks and feels like clutter and greater distraction on the streets. Am told it is safety measure, but this is such an eyesore. 9/30/2025 8:01 PM
5 Curb extensions add to congestion of traffic flowing at normal speed. 9/30/2025 12:53 PM 6 Streets are much more narrow and hard to drive when there are 2 cars passing. 9/30/2025 10:25 AM 7 I THINK A ROUND ABOUT CIRCLE WOULD BE MORE EFFICIENT 9/28/2025 7:50 PM 8 These curb extensions make it more difficult to drive 9/27/2025 11:12 AM 9 Too narrow 9/19/2025 5:01 PM
10 Curb extensions address an issue that ceased to exist 6+ months ago. On right turn I don't have to swing as wide to avoid my car the control devices. 9/19/2025 10:44 AM
11 I like that it's narrower. It is easier to turn at the intersection with a wider street. 9/18/2025 5:24 PM 12 longer crossing for me walking and easier for cars to gain dangerous speed 9/17/2025 4:26 PM 13 does NOT reduce speeding on the streets or running of stop signs at the intersection 9/17/2025 3:15 PM 14 It’s still too wide. Navigating thru the extensions with oncoming traffic is tricky and large vehicles always have trouble. Also can’t reach the gutters to clean and I’m worried for fore trucks that might not be able to pass thru on emergencies. 9/17/2025 2:48 PM
15 to narrow 9/17/2025 2:38 PM
16 As I said above, I prefer traffic circles 9/17/2025 2:22 PM 17 N/A 9/17/2025 2:04 PM
18 As a bicyclist, I'd prefer a wider buffer along the curb. 9/17/2025 2:00 PM 19 Narrower road. Difficult to maneuver and turn long onto the street of Hamel is more difficult 9/16/2025 10:19 AM 20 Adds both safety and curb appeal 9/16/2025 8:36 AM
21 Why narrow an intersection? 9/15/2025 8:01 PM
22 The curb extensions are horrible. It slows down traffic and makes it hard to pass through because 2 cars cannot pass through at the same time. People are always honking and angry.

It also makes it more difficult to park there and I live right at the corner. It looks horrible and the city does not do a good job keeping it clean. People are walking buy and constantly throwing the trash in the planters. It looks very cheap and cheapens the area. 9/15/2025 7:51 PM
23 I definitely like the narrower grub, but Hamel sits in between 2 traffic circles. It doesn’t need anything
9/15/2025 7:05 PM
24 It's meaningless. Unless penalized, bad drivers will do what they always do at stop signs: slow down just enough to check for other cars before driving through. 9/14/2025 12:06 PM
Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study: 6-month Extension 25 It still makes the intersection too narrow and dangerous 9/11/2025 5:54 PM 26 We in this community are not used to narrow curb extensions. 9/10/2025 8:51 PM 27 Calms traffic and provides safety for harried parents before and after school 9/4/2025 10:10 AM 28 Not enough room for two cars going opposite direction 8/28/2025 1:29 PM 29 I like it 8/27/2025 7:49 AM
30 Curb extension are a little distracting 8/26/2025 3:14 PM 31 Very hard turn 8/26/2025 11:48 AM
32 They do nothing to slow people down or prevent people from running the stop signs. I'm not sure what the purpose of curb extensions are.
8/26/2025 10:34 AM
33 I think it causes cars to swerve out and enter opposing traffic 8/24/2025 4:23 PM 34 Narrow road 8/24/2025 9:21 AM
35 those plants create additional space for collecting dirt & garbage, the intersection looks rather dirty
8/20/2025 3:10 PM
36 with these extensions you are creating more traffic and obstacles 8/20/2025 1:33 PM 37 It appears that the narrower curb extensions convince drivers to take the corners, wider and faster
8/20/2025 12:45 PM
38 It works for us 8/20/2025 11:55 AM
39 It makes it harder to drive, make turns and control the vehicle. It disturbs the driving skills. 8/19/2025 11:21 AM 40 I am neutral 8/18/2025 6:28 PM
41 Again, I like how it slowed down traffic, which is great when I'm out walking and I need to cross this intersection.
8/18/2025 2:45 PM
42 again, too crowded/hard to turn 8/18/2025 11:40 AM
43 The street is much too narrow for this! It is very dangerous. 8/18/2025 11:12 AM 44 I specifically dislike any curb extensions 8/18/2025 8:52 AM 45 Horrible narrows too much 8/17/2025 6:17 PM
46 inconvenient, creates collision 8/17/2025 5:59 PM
47 Forces bikers to get in front of the cars and there's no way to pass them since the California law requires a minimum of 3 ft
8/17/2025 2:17 PM
48 does not sufficiently slow down traffic through the intersection 8/17/2025 2:06 PM 49 curb extensions help slow traffic. larger ones protect pedestrians 8/17/2025 9:34 AM 50 I don't like curb extensions at all. 8/17/2025 8:21 AM 51 same as above 8/17/2025 8:10 AM
52 This is an eyesore, and just ruins the feeling of this street. 8/16/2025 11:14 PM 53 Visually distracting, obtrusive, doesn’t seem to serve any beneficial purpose. 8/16/2025 9:04 PM 54 It reduces the amount of usable width of the road, which puts vehicles extremely close proximity to each other and can be dangerous for elderly drivers, specially on turns. 8/16/2025 5:30 PM
55 The extensions make a driver much more aware of how to navigate through a right hand turn.

This makes for a slower turn and safer turn.
8/16/2025 5:17 PM
56 I like the narrow for extensions feel safer for pedestrians 8/16/2025 3:45 PM 57 I prefer the wider curb extension. 8/16/2025 12:01 PM 58 Seem to work 8/16/2025 11:44 AM

1 #6 and All the garbage is gone, the problen is created at la cienega and 1 block west. The traffic light going east west should be green longer and the 1st stop sign should be eliminated or a yield aign
10/5/2025 8:49 AM
2 DO NOT REMOVE THE TRAFFIC CIRCLES AND CURB EXTENSIONS ON LE DOUX. The drivers coming off of La Cienega drive at a MURDEROUS rate. It is a nuisance to the residents on Clifton who pay WAY TOO MUCH to have the city take away these traffic calming devices. Speed bumps should be installed to protect the residents. Many families live in this area and the residents are at high risk due to the reckless speeds. Cars go straight through stop signs and are constantly texting and driving. Use the cameras to fine drivers who are on their phones!

3 I defer to fire and police safety as well, as our fire department must be able to travel swiftly. between curb extensions and traffic circles, i probably would choose traffic circles. My son noticed that in the narrow curb extension he liked the placement of the stop signs, more visible. But to be clear, I don't want anything near Charleville or Gregory! :D Thanks!! P.S.

Driving Clifton west from Robertson and Doheny is a dream; open space, clear vision. Littering the streets with plastic and plants is just distracting and impedes vision, too. 9/30/2025 8:01 PM
4 the curb extensions are too narrow. 9/30/2025 12:53 PM 5 Remove all curb extensions, and keep traffic circles. 9/30/2025 10:25 AM 6 Traffic calming was appropriate while traffic lanes on Wilshire were taken away for weeks at a time during subway construction. That is over. Traffic on Clifton is minimal, as it was for many years before the subway construction started.

7 I am not currently a bicycle rider and I think it is important to get feedback from bicycle riders regarding these changes.
9/18/2025 5:24 PM
8 traffic circles at all intersections plus bike lanes 9/17/2025 4:26 PM 9 The only effective solution to the traffic problems on Clifton and cross streets is to place traffic circles at every intersection on Clifton
9/17/2025 3:15 PM
10 Maybe place large stop songs instead of any street deterrents 9/17/2025 2:48 PM 11 Traffic circles should be used at all these intersection for pedestrian and auto safety 9/17/2025 2:04 PM 12 Please Keep Traffic Circle at Arnaz 9/16/2025 8:36 AM 13 As I said in a City Council meeting 25 years ago when the same measures were being proposed for Reeves between Gregory and Charleville, START WRITING TICKETS. 9/14/2025 12:06 PM
14 You are wasting taxpayer money. 9/10/2025 8:51 PM
15 keep up the good work 8/27/2025 7:49 AM
16 These measures do not appear to slow down cars or slow them. Cars still appear to drive through without sleeping as before. I walk along this corridor all the time and notice that this does not appear to work.
8/24/2025 4:23 PM
17 Everything was working perfectly fine on these streets, as intended. I walk 2-3 times per day on these streets for the past 25 year and I do not recall anybody ever having any accidents on these intersections. Willaman dr was always a race track for teens and that's where speedbumps should be installed.

23 Nothing but Option 1 8/17/2025 6:17 PM
24 Replace the curb extensions with a traffic circle, so there are traffic circles at every intersection
8/17/2025 2:06 PM
25 I want the project to be removed. Another issue is it makes it impossible between 4 - 6 pm for me to take my car out of my parking spots because of the back up of traffic. I have two cars.

One I pull out on Clifton Way one on Le Doux Road. I have to leave a car on Los Angeles side so i can leave to go to work at 5pm
8/17/2025 8:10 AM
26 I am not sure why this was even proposed as there was never any traffic congestion that affected this area when I walked along this route.
8/16/2025 11:14 PM
27 Remove stop signs from traffic circles and replace with yield signs 8/16/2025 9:04 PM 28 I don’t know if I missed it in the survey, but the intersection of Ladue and Clifton has been made calmer, but the traffic on the 100 block of North Ladue continues to speed and otherwise gridlock the street. This calming project has done nothing to calm the traffic on the 100 block of North Ledoux

Project: Traffic and Parking
Commission Meeting –
Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility
Study
Dear Community Member,
On November 6, 2025, the Traffic and Parking Commission will review community survey results regarding modifications made to the traffic calming demonstration on Clifton Way, as well as recent traffic data, and make a recommendation to City Council regarding whether the project should:
• Remain in place with any additional modifications
• Be upgraded with permanent materials (such as concrete) • Be removed (partially or entirely)
Last year, City Council provided direction to extend the traffic calming demonstration (part of the Clifton-Le Doux Corridor Mobility Study) for an additional six months after making modifications to address community feedback. From late February through April 2025, the following modifications were made:

1. Narrowing of curb extensions

2. Replacement of curb extensions with traffic circle

3. Removal of curb extensions

4. Addition of centerline striping for vehicle lane-positioning City Council consideration of the project is tentatively scheduled for December 9, 2025. Details regarding the City Council meeting will be posted to www.beverlyhills.org/CliftonLeDoux when available.
