JUNE 2026 CANDIDATES

STATEMENT OF

ROGER TANENBAUM
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Occupation:

Literary Chief Executive
Hi, I’m Roger Tanenbaum. My family has been engaged
in Beverly Hills civic life for nearly 80 years. I’m proud to represent the third generation. Our city has shaped my
values of community, responsibility, and integrity. Of pivotal importance is preserving the delicate balance between
commercial development and residential quality of life.

Public safety is government’s first responsibility. I will vigilantly guard our police, fire, and schools - institutions that safeguard our families. My leadership is grounded
in civility and accountability. Embracing these values
contributes to better collaboration, understanding and
problem solving. I’m independent in judgment and
respectful in action.

I hold a BBA degree from Loyola Marymount University
and a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine. My professional
background includes managing the literary career of my
father, author Robert K. Tanenbaum where I oversaw public relations, speaking engagements, scheduling, property
management, and fiscal operations. These experiences
prepare me for thoughtful, forward-thinking decisionmaking to best serve our entire community.

We face real challenges - including budget pressures,
housing mandates, public safety concerns, aging
infrastructure and rising intolerance. With strategic planning these challenges can become opportunities, while protecting our city’s autonomy and character.

I’d be honored to serve you. I respectfully ask for your vote.

STATEMENT OF

REBECCA PYNOOS
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Age: 42
Occupation:

Beverly Hills City Commissioner
As a proud, third-generation Beverly Hills resident, I grew up in the Flats, and I live in the Southwest. I know this city.

I love this city, and Beverly Hills must do better.

Residents don’t feel included - or heard. For too long, City Hall has failed to plan proactively - or meaningfully
engage residents in major issues, while the state, lobbyists, developers, and special interests have gained too much
influence.

That’s why I am running for Beverly Hills City Council
- Beverly Hills deserves experienced, independent
leadership that puts the residents first.

Over the last 14 years, I have served Beverly Hills as a City Commissioner, currently as Chair of the Architectural and Design Review Commission and previously, Chair of the
Cultural Heritage Commission. My professional experience and education from Brandeis University and USC inform
my passion for smart policy, good governance, and
community connection.

My priorities are clear: keep Beverly Hills the safest city in the region, restore accountability in our schools and city government, support every neighborhood-and responsibly
address housing mandates while protecting what makes
Beverly Hills extraordinary.

As your Councilmember, I will bring an unwavering
commitment to community. It would be an honor to serve
you, and be our voice at City Hall. Vote Rebecca Pynoos. www.RebeccaPynoos.com

STATEMENT OF

ANDY LICHT
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Occupation:

Beverly Hills Commissioner/Businessman
Our city deserves leadership that’s fiscally responsible, and deeply respectful of our community’s character and
traditions. Every dollar wasted on unnecessary litigation or poor planning is a dollar that should have gone to
safety and essential services. We can do better!
Here’s what I’d like you to know about me:
- Served six years on the Planning Commission,
including two years as Chair
- Served four years on the Traffic & Parking
Commission
- Currently serve on the Cultural Heritage Commission
In these roles, I improved parking and traffic flow,
supported thoughtful development that adds real value
to our city, and opposed projects that did not meet
Beverly Hills’ high standards. Professionally, I am a
businessman who has managed multi million-dollar
projects on time and on budget. I will bring that same
discipline, transparency, and accountability to City
Hall, so our local government operates effectively
and lives within its means. Beverly Hills is not divided by neighborhoods; it is one community. I was raised
here, educated here, and raised my children here.

I am honored to have the support of Democrats,
Republicans, and Independents alike.

My commitment is simple: protect our quality of life
today and leave our children the very best Beverly Hills tomorrow.

STATEMENT OF

JONATHAN MARIANDE
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Age: 43
Occupation:

Documentary Filmmaker
I am running for City Council because Beverly Hills deserves a government as exceptional as our community.

My first act as your council member will be introducing a resolution creating Beverly Hills’ first Charter Study Commission in 50 years. Our city charter is 110 years old, written when we had 500 residents. Today we have 33,000, yet we operate under the same outdated framework.

The pandemic exposed how badly our governance structure handles modem challenges. Sacramento imposes mandates
we lack the charter authority to resist. Permitting frustrates businesses. Residents feel unheard. The Commission will include former elected officials, business leaders, renters, homeowners, legal experts, and representatives of every generation. They will hold listening sessions in all 15 precincts, study peer cities, and deliver recommendations that put residents in charge of how this city works.

This is not change for the sake of change. It is about
restoring responsive, efficient government with
modem tools to deliver results. My opponents will manage the same broken system. I will fix the foundation first, then spend three years building on it.

Beverly Hills deserves a government built for its next century.

I am ready to build it.

ARIEL ROFEIM
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Bills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Age: 33
Occupation:

Attorney
I am running for City Council to protect what makes Beverly Hills exceptional while preparing our city for the challenges ahead. I am a product of Beverly Hills. As a renter, local attorney, former BHPD Cadet, and former White House
intern, I have experienced this community from many
perspectives and believe our city government must focus on public safety, supporting our businesses, and putting the resident experience first.

Beverly Hills must remain one of the safest cities in the world. With major developments approaching, including
the amval of the Metro D Line station, our city will face new challenges. We must proactively support and fund
the BHPD and BHFD, while supporting our school families through programs that commit to protecting the future of our community.

Second, we must revitalize our business district. Too many storefronts that once housed thriving restaurants and
retailers now sit vacant. We must create exciting initiatives focused on our commercial streets through events and
promotions that bring residents and tourists back to our local businesses.

Finally, we must improve community life by addressing
increasing traffic anxiety, excessive vehicle exhaust noise in the Golden Triangle, and installing neighborhood programs that foster unity and encourage kindness.

STATEMENT OF

LESTER FRIEDMAN
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Occupation:

Beverly Hills Councilmember/Attorney-At-Law
My focus for the next four years is clear: safer streets, protected neighborhoods, and a financially secure
Beverly Hills.

As Mayor and Councilmember, I led key initiatives to
strengthen public safety and protect city services.
- Oversaw the hiring of additional sworn police officers - Implemented our 24/7 Real-Time Watch Center
- Accomplished a reduction in crime
- Worked with the Fire Department to increase fire safety - Hosted 200+ Mayors for the Combat Antisemitism
Movement Summit
- Protected delivery of resident city services during
the financial crisis
- Fought Sacramento’s development mandates
- Championed the plan that kept renters in their homes
and restaurants open during the pandemic
My agenda for the next four years is focused and
results-driven:
- Integrate 3,000 private security cameras into the
Watch Center
- Expand drone technology for rapid emergency response
- Enhance AI-driven crime analytics to prevent crime
- Create smarter community-based patrol programs
- Protect our houses of worship and stand against hate
- Maintain our AAA bond rating
- Keep reserves at 50% of the operating budget
- Deliver city services without increasing city fees or compromising quality
As a two-term mayor, I know what it takes to lead-and I am ready to finish the work of protecting our quality of life for generations to come.

I’m honored to call Beverly Hills home and to have served our community as a Volunteer, Commissioner, Councilmember,

As a clinical psychologist and mother of three, I lead with a residents-first approach grounded in listening, accessibility, and results.

Experienced leadership matters. During my term, crime
has declined by nearly 20%, and we have strengthened
partnerships with our police and fire departments to keep our neighborhoods safe. I remain committed to supporting our schools and protecting current funding levels so our students and families continue receiving the resources they deserve.

I actively advocate and lobby at the local, state, and federal levels for funding, resources, and policies that directly benefit Beverly Hills. I’ve prioritized fiscal responsibility and transparency while maintaining essential services, investing in sustainability initiatives, and advancing responsible planning that protects our neighborhood character and quality of life.

STATEMENT OF

Age: 79
Occupation:

Business Consultant
I am running for one of the three open seats on the Beverly Hills City Council because I believe government works best when it truly listens to the people it serves.

A meaningful, open dialogue between residents and city
leadership is essential. The community should feel heard, and the government should clearly communicate the realities and challenges of running a city with so many moving
parts. When we understand each other, we can reduce red tape, act in a timely manner, and implement smart, effective solutions.

Beverly Hills remains a world-class city, but we face real social and economic challenges in an ever-changing world.

We must continue improving service, safety, and cleanliness - and that takes teamwork.

I am not a career politician looking to recycle old ideas. I am a hardworking Beverly Hills resident and businessman who remembers when our streets felt safer, cleaner, and more supported. I believe we can raise the standard again.

I am ready to work with my constituents to restore
excellence and ensure Beverly Hills continues to lead by example.

STATEMENT OF

ANDREW KOLE
Candidate For Member Of The City Council
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Occupation:

Writer/ Animal Rescue/Consultant
When we talk about the future of Beverly Hills the focus is usually on big projects, big budgets, and big promises. But I’m running for City Council because I believe something simple and powerful: “Little Things Matter.”
Strong communities aren’t built through large developments and major initiatives. They’re built through attention to detail, responsive government, and consistent followthrough. When the little things are handled well, trust grows.

Neighborhoods feel cared for. Residents feel heard.

My commitment is straightforward:
- Clear, transparent communication from City Hall,
or at least from me
- Faster response times for basically everything
- Support all local businesses
- Do my own research and the “math” before I vote
- Listen to community concerns by holding monthly
“Town Hall” meetings
Good governance is doing the small things right the first time. If we take care of the little things, we prevent bigger problems. When we focus on details, we build a city and community that works for everyone.

If elected, I obviously represent the voters, but also represent the people that work in Beverly Hills, business owners, retail stores, restaurants, hotels ... everybody!
It is the combination of all these parts that make
Beverly Hills a great place to live.

STATEMENT OF
HOWARD S. FISHER
Candidate For City Treasurer
City Of Beverly Hills Regular Municipal Election
Accepted the City’s Voluntary Expenditure Limits
Age: 74
Occupation:

Treasurer, Beverly Hills
The Treasurer is responsible for safeguarding the City’s investments. As the City’s Treasurer I will continue in that tradition of integrity, transparency, and financial stability.

And I will not bow to special interests, especially developers.

As your Treasurer I helped solve the City’s $370 million pension deficit, oversee the City’s $600 million investment portfolio, adopted Anti-Boycott and ESG investment
practices, and revamped the Treasurer’s reports to make them more readable and useful, and have worked to help
implement zero-based budgeting.

I’ve been the past Chair of the Planning and Public Works Commissions, president of the Beverly Hills Bar, Cub-Scout Leader - BH Troop 100, Board of Temple Emanuel, BHHS
Class of 1969 ( as our sons), my wife Francine of 48 years and I both work in Beverly Hills.

Simply put: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There is no need for a change. The City Treasurer’s office is too important- it should not be used as a “stepping-stone.”
