Honorable Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Councilmembers:

Last Wednesday, I walked past 215 South Hamilton and heard the chirping of a smoke alarm.

Local residents told me that this has been going on for several weeks. It is affecting at least a score of residents.

Local residents also stated that they have contacted the Community Development Department, the Beverly Hills Police Department, and the Beverly Hills Fire Department and each department points the finger at the other departments as to who has jurisdiction.

This will stop.

If this matter is not handled within 48 hours, I will bring every resident from South Hamilton to the next City Council, even if I have to charter a bus to do so.

You would never allow this to continue if there was a chirping smoke alarm around your homes.

Stop the hypocrisy, fix the problem … or else.

Steve Mayer
