WRITTEN PUBLIC

COMMENTS RECEIVED
The One Beverly Hills development is asking for changes to its agreement with the City. I attended the Planning Commission meeting where this was discussed. The changes could be significant. They want to make 44 of the condo units available for one night rental. This is not currently allowed in Beverly Hills. They would also like to construct an outpatient surgical facility in their Promenade. This was not included in their original agreement. And they have let it be known that they will be approaching the City Council to significantly change the number and residences of individuals who will be granted access to the Promenade.

At the Planning Commission there was in depth discussion of the legal aspects of the changes. There was back and forth presentations by the Aman Group and the Peninsula Hotel, with attempts made to come to a mutually agreeable resolution.

There was virtually no discussion of the impact the changes will have on the residents of Beverly Hills, particularly those immediately adjacent to the project. While there was lots of written input, it was clear from their content that the input was orchestrated and designed to include specific points to support the legal aspects of the proposed changes.

Please, in your future deliberations, take into account quality of life issues for City residents, not just legal and financial issues of competing corporations. The changes have the potential to significantly increase the scope of the project in a way that was not initially agreed to or approved. It could turn 44 condo units into 44 “air bnb like” hotel rooms. It could significantly increase foot traffic and parking needs above the original approved permit. It could create a medical facility designed to serve large number of patients from beyond the LA area.

These are major changes. Their real and unintended consequences need to be discussed and evaluated before approval. Please make sure that Beverly Hills residents are fully aware and well represented by you in all discussions and decisions.

Questions
Dear Mayor and City Councilmembers,
My family has proudly owned property and operated a business on Robertson Boulevard since 1986. For nearly 40 years, we have seen firsthand what this street needs.

Our family has spent a great deal of time discussing this project because it will directly affect our business, our property, and the future of Robertson Boulevard. As previously mentioned, we strongly believe we have one chance to get this right.

We support affordable senior housing, but this valuable Cityowned property should do more. Robertson Boulevard desperately needs public parking, shops, and restaurants.

The Whole Foods project on Crescent Drive proves that Beverly Hills can successfully combine housing, public parking, and retail. Beverly Drive has convenient public parking that supports its businesses and brings people to the area.

We strongly urge the City to create a project that provides affordable senior housing and the public parking, shops, and restaurants this street has needed for years.

We have the opportunity to accomplish both, and we strongly believe we should make the most of it.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Sharona Partiyeli
