INTRODUCTION
This item is submitted for City Council information. Since 2006, the City has held an annual all employee training and development day, which is observed on Columbus Day also known as Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This year, the Employee Development Day event will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026.
DISCUSSION
The theme of this year’s Employee Development Day is “Level Up.” The event will be held at Greystone Mansion.
The day’s activities will provide employees with opportunities to connect, learn, and engage with colleagues from across the City. Each department will host an interactive booth showcasing its responsibilities, services, and contributions to the organization and community. Departments are encouraged to incorporate activities, games, displays, or other creative elements that demonstrate the work of their department.
A vendor will also provide a variety of engaging picnic style games and activities in the upper parking lot. These activities are intended to encourage employee participation, teamwork, and interaction.
Hosting the event at Greystone Mansion will also give employees an opportunity to explore one of the City’s most notable historic landmarks. Employees will be able to learn more about the mansion’s history, architecture, grounds, and significance to the Beverly Hills community. This experience will help employees strengthen their connection to the City they serve while gaining a greater appreciation for the preservation and stewardship of this important City property.
As in past years, City Hall will be closed from 7:30 am – 2:00 pm. City Hall will re-open for business at 2:00pm.
