My 37 years of experience at Douglas Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, and Boeing Aircraft Space and Defense division have provided me with a solid foundation in engineering, project management, and leadership. Over the course of my career, I progressed into Senior Engineer, Manager, and Project Manager roles, where I developed skills in overseeing large-scale operations, managing complex budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet strategic goals. Reggie Lamson, General Manager-DWP,
Linda Goldsmith, Owner-Goldsmith's Sports and Ski,
Steve Fengler, Owner-Big Bear Marina,
I have a sincere interest in continuing my service as a Commissioner on the City of Big Bear Lake Department of Water and Power (DWP) Board. Since my appointment in 2013, it has been a distinct honor to serve this community, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to extend that service further.
Over the past several years, I have served as the Treasurer for the DWP Board and as a member of the Technical Review Team (TRT). In that role, I have helped evaluate the condition, sustainability, and availability of our vital groundwater resources and advised the Board of Commissioners accordingly.
As the first Commissioner appointed from outside the city limits, I have consistently advocated for the 42% of ratepayers who reside beyond the city boundaries. I take great pride in engaging with the broader community—sharing their concerns, representing their interests, and effectively communicating the DWP’s long-term vision and ongoing projects.
I am proud to have contributed to a number of important accomplishments during my tenure, including:
- Championing a user rate reduction to provide financial relief to the community - Ensuring a balanced budget each year while maintaining healthy reserve funds for capital needs - Supporting the Radio-Read Meter Replacement Project
- Providing technical guidance during the upgrade of DWP's computer infrastructure - Supporting solar energy projects that now save approximately $200,000 annually in energy costs - Helping secure grant funding totaling over $2.5M for infrastructure improvements over my last 4yr tenure - Overseeing energy-efficient system updates such as:
- The Angel Camp reservoir, which now provides gravity-fed service to over 3,000 Sugarloaf customers - The Pontell hydro-pneumatic system
- Upgrades to slant well facilities, increasing flow from gravity-based sources I am deeply committed to continuing this work, advocating for both sustainable infrastructure and fiscal responsibility. I invite you to review my resume, which outlines further details of my experience and qualifications.
Thank you for your time and consideration. It would be a privilege to continue serving the City of Big Bear Lake and all its DWP ratepayers.
