TO: Mayor and Council Members
FROM: Sukari Beshears, Director of Human Resources/Risk Manager SUBJECT: Agenda Item F.23 – Flag Policy
Subsequent to the publication of the agenda, it was brought to my attention that there was a change made in the amended Flag Policy that is incorrect. There is no fiscal impact associated with the correction of this error.

Under the Policy Section 1. Authorized display of flags at City facilities, ‘poles’ was inadvertently removed in the first sentence of the fourth paragraph. It should read as follows:
• In adopting this policy, the City Council declares that the City’s flagpoles are not intended to serve as a forum for free expression of the public, but rather for the display of the Federal, State, City flags, and those Commemorative flags that may be flown as an expression of the City’s official sentiments.

The corrected Flag Policy is attached to this memo. If any Council Member wishing to make a motion on this item tonight would reference the Flag Policy “as amended,” the record will then be clear in this regard.

Thank you
