Writen Correspondence between November 17, 2023-December 14, 2023 Jennifer Bousquet (December 14, 2023) Public Comment for tonight Dear Brisbane City Council,
We recently noced an announcement from the City of Brisbane that a new mayor is going to be appointed. It brought to mind the council's decision last year to delay Councilmember Lentz's turn in the rotaon, to be appointed Mayor.
It's been very disheartening to watch polics play out on the naonal stage over the past few years. As cizens, we have connuously watched pares fight over power and influence, rather than truly represenng the best interests of our naon. My children are now keenly aware of the difference between public servants and policians.
We do not want to see this jockeying locally - we see enough of it on the nightly news. We are hopeful that Councilmember Lentz will be appointed Mayor for the next rotaon. It is simply his due. We appreciate his many years of public service to this community and do not want to see him disrespected again due to polics. Brisbane can do beter than that.
Serving the community of Brisbane is not an easy thing to do. We have enormous respect to all of you that have made this commitment and I thank you. When you work together as a healthy, funconal team, it is amazing.
Please understand that targeng members in a punive fashion has a negave ripple effect on the community and compromises the credibility of all the council members.
Happy holidays to you and your families,
Jennifer, Ken, Cassandra and Sebasan Bousquet
