My previous participation as a CC member on this Committee gave me incredible insight into the wants and needs for Public Art in our Community and the proven success of not only bringing one Artist to the table for a project, but two Artists.
This collaboration proved truly successful from a vast array of perspectives. Thinking out of the box is one of my personal strengths

Why do you want to be a
member of the Public
Art Advisory
Committee?
I am interested in rejoining the conversation of how Public Art can benefit our community. The Public Art Advisory Committee has made significant progress in developing public art in Brisbane, notably the instillations at the new Genisis campus, a Please list any

public arts master plan, and the recently completed Alvarado stairway project. The reconfiguration of the Arts Committee offers new opportunities for community impute to this promising initiative.
I have been self employed as a harpsichord maker since 1984.
I am semi-retired since 2024. My business activities included instrument repair, rentals, and technician services for Arts organizations such as San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Ballet, Carmel Bach Festival, Music@Menlo and many others.
My principle activity was building harpsichords based on surviving instruments of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In my career I built 70 instruments about 50 on commission. As my reputation grew, demand for my work increased and I
enjoyed a waiting list of 4-6 years from about 2000 on. The fees per commission ranged from $30K-$60K. More elaborate commissions included decorative elements where I
collaborated with Artists for soundboard paintings, case paintings and lid paintings. Most notably with the late Millicent Tomkins, and decorative artist Adrian Card. In 2020 I stopped accepting new commissions and completed my last instrument in 2024.
Related to my activities as an Early Music specialist, I served on several non-profit boards. My first was the San Francisco Early Music Society (1986-1992). As board president we
secured a small grant to work with a consultant on board training. In my final two years I secured our first major grant for $200K from the Hewlett Foundation to co-sponsor, with Cal Performances, the biennial Berkeley Early Music Festival.
Other arts boards I have served on are: Early Music America, The Western Early Keyboard Association, and The Historical Harp Society.
In Brisbane I partnered with Friends of the Brisbane library to produce the concert series "Live at Mission Blue". The series ran from 2004 to 2019. We presented 65 concerts including programs for the students in Brisbane's school district. Live at Mission Blue was taught at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (my alma mater) from 2011 to 2019 as a case study in Dr. Kip Cranna's graduate seminar on the practical aspects of a career in music. Each year I would speak to the students on my perspective on how the performing arts can contribute to the building of community.
In 2011 I was appointed to the Parks and Rec Commission.
During my tenure I served on several sub-committees including Concerts in the park, and the youth subcommittee where we What do you feel you

studied the feasibility of continuing to fund the teen center which was then in decline. I also advocated for banners on Visitation, and replacing the environmentally unfriendly printed sign boards with the more versatile signs currently in use.
But my principal interest in applying for P&R Commission was to explore the possibility of a Public Arts Ordinance. The Commission formed a subcommittee to explore the idea. It was comprised of myself, Karen Lenz, Bonnie Bologoff, Theresa Jimenez and staffed by Stuart Schillinger. We studied
ordinances and implementation guidelines of about 30 other cities and worked on the draft ordinance. The Public Arts Ordinance was passed late in 2014. This was followed by work on Implementation guidelines.
I served on the Altamar at the Ridge HOA board from 2018 to 2024.
I am an amateur photographer. Since 2011 I have mounted 8 photo exhibits at Brisbane City Hall. The most recent, "A Crowded Room", explores human emotions that bind us
together as community.
Brisbane, like so many communities, struggles with the
inevitable changes that development brings with it. Public Art gives us an opportunity to develop and express our identity on an everchanging landscape. Public Art can be a vehicle by which we connect and strengthen community. And our Public Arts program not only says that we value artists as part of our social fabric, but that we support their economic interests by commissioning works of art from qualified professional artists.

see this as an opportunity to contribute to something larger than my own work, and to help foster projects that invite curiosity, creativity, and a sense of belonging in our town.
I have a background in art and graphic design. My record of community involvement includes: spearheading the Midtown Market mural fundraiser (in something like 2003), serving on the Brisbane Dance Workshop board for several years, and volunteering in classrooms while raising my two sons here. I continue to contribute through my personal public art projects.
I'm especially interested in public art that people encounter as part of their daily lives, not just in formal settings. My experience creating and managing public-facing projects has given me insight into what resonates with the community and what's sustainable over time. I would bring both a creative and practical lens to supporting meaningful, engaging public art.

people that live there. As both an artist and someone
passionate about community-building, I would be honored to contribute to developing and supporting public art initiatives in my new home, Brisbane.
To start, I am a community-taught artist, my main mediums are painting (gouache, watercolor), drawing, digital art, and sewing.
I'm also intrigued by murals and am planning on painting a mural in my new home this summer! I have deep ties to the SF art scene and Oakland art scene; I have relationships with local musicians, dancers, actors, painters, and organizations that put on community events, such as the Marigold Project who hosts the Dia de los Muertos celebration in the Mission. I also recently worked at the Exploratorium as a project manager, where I coordinated exhibitions and strengthened the
museum's relationships with other Bay Area organizations and artists. So, I know what it takes and what's needed to put on a successful show. A lot of the artists and tradespeople I've met these past few years have become some of my close friends and are people I consider a part of my community. I'd be interested in building those kinds of connections here in Brisbane and help elevate Brisbane's public art from my personal and professional experiences.
As a new Brisbane resident, I'm excited to become actively involved in this lovely community. I bring a strong foundation in project coordination and logistics, along with a creative perspective as an artist, and a collaborative, approachable working style. I'm especially interested in how public art can foster connection, reflect community identity, and make shared spaces more welcoming. I would contribute both thoughtful ideas and practical support to help plan, implement, and sustain impactful public art initiatives. Honestly, I'd love to help make some public art!

Serving on this committee would allow me to continue
developing my skills in public leadership and communication, while contributing meaningfully to efforts that keep Brisbane welcoming, inclusive, and reflective of all who call it home.
My educational background is in Public Health and I started my career working at the Department of Public Health in San Luis Obispo while I was getting my master's at Cal Poly. I managed mental health awareness programs, drug and alcohol safety programs, and taught nutrition classes for young students, teens, and adults. I also have a background in research and have experience gathering information (ex: surveys) to
evaluate community's needs. And, as a part of my graduate studies, I learned a lot about disability advocacy and led a kayaking program for adults with disabilities for 4 years.
In my current role, I support donor engagement and fundraising efforts for an environmental non-profit dedicated to protecting people and open spaces (ex. nature, coast) from the changing climate.
Additionally, I have been involved in neighborhood clean-ups, mutual aid networks, soup kitchens, market vending, mural painting, and clothing swaps in my past neighborhoods. I'm not currently active in any community activities other than applying to be a part of Brisbane's committees!
I would bring a perspective shaped by my background in public health, my experience as both an artist and project manager, and my deep commitment to community-centered work.I
approach challenges with an understanding of how social, cultural, and environmental factors intersect, and I value creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and respected.
As a newer member of the Brisbane community, I also bring a fresh perspective and a genuine curiosity to listen, learn, and engage with residents from a wide range of backgrounds. I'm especially attuned to the importance of inclusive outreach and thoughtful representation, and I strive to ensure that community initiatives reflect and serve the full diversity of the people they're meant to support. Thank you for your consideration! Lu pita M Gonzalez

APPLICATION
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
I am a resident of the City of Brisbane and am interested in being considered for appointment to the Complete Streets Safety Committee.
Name: Jose Moreno

CellPhone: 650 333-3584 Email Address: "ose. moreno sbc lobal. net How long have you lived in Brisbane? 9. 5 ears
Occupation: Informadon Technolo Executive
Employer's Name: Gerson Lehrman Grou
Present Position: Council Member Length of Employment: 2 ears What community activities are you presently involved in, or have been in the past? While I have not previously served on a formal city committee, I have always been engaged as an active community member. I stay informed about local initiatives and regularly participate in civic processes such as voting on measures that support public safety, infrastructure improvements, and community development.
At this stage in my life, I am intentionally looking for opportunities to become more directly involved in community initiatives and contribute my time and energy to efforts that benefit the residents of Brisbane.
Please list any other background information (business, education, personal) that might be useful.
Professionally, I have spent many years working in technology and operations leadership roles, where collaboration, problem-solving, and thoughtful planning are essential. My work has required balancing multiple perspectives, analyzing complex issues, and helping teams develop practical solutions.
As a Brisbane resident, I care deeply about maintaining a safe, welcoming, and accessible community for everyone. I value thoughtful civic engagement and believe community participation is an important part of helping our city continue to thrive.
Why do you want to be a member of the above Committee?
I would like to serve on the Complete Streets Safety Committee because I believe safe, accessible streets are fundamental to a healthy and connected community. Pedestrians, bicyclists, families, seniors, and people with disabilities should all be able to move safely throughout our city.
I am particularly interested in supporting initiatives that improve pedestrian safety, walkability, and accessibility. Joining this committee would allow me to contribute to meaningful local improvements while learning from other community members who share the same goal of making Brisbane safer and more welcoming for everyone.
What do you feel you could contribute to the Committee? I believe I can contribute a thoughtful, collaborative perspective and a strong commitment to community well-being. My professional background has helped me develop skills in listening to diverse viewpoints, evaluating options, and working constructively toward practical solutions.
As a resident who uses and experiences our streets every day, I would bring the perspective of a community member who cares deeply about safety, accessibility, and quality of life in Brisbane. I would approach this role with a willingness to listen, learn, and contribute wherever I can to support the committee's work.
The Complete Streets Safety Committee meetings will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. How much time do you envision being able to give to serving on the Committee? How often are you out of town? What other commitments might cause conflicts in your attendance at Committee meetings? I have ample availability to participate in the Committee's monthly meetings and related activities.
The first Wednesday evenmg schedule works well for me, and I would be happy to dedicate the necessary time to attend meetings, review materials, and collaborate with other committee members.
I am occasionally out of town for planned vacations, but those are typically scheduled well in advance.
Other than that, I do not anticipate any regular commitments that would interfere with attending the Committee's meetings.
If selected, I would make every effort to be a reliable and engaged participant and to contribute consistently to the Committee's work.

Open Space & Ecology Committee Questions
Why do you want to be a member of the Open Space and Ecology Committee? I am interested in serving on the Brisbane Open Space and Ecology Committee because I want to contribute to the stewardship of Brisbane's natural habitat and sensitive biological resources. I want to serve on the Committee to give back to the community by offering my expertise in ecological science and arboriculturat best practices. I believe my experience can help support informed discussions around habitat protection, tree management, wildfire resilience, and Long-term open space planning, while maintaining Brisbane's unique character and open space stewardship. Ultimately, I'd like to contribute my professional experience to support thoughtful, science-based decisions for the community as a whole.
Please list any background information (business, education, personal) that might be useful, especially concerning activities that demonstrate your record of public service and commitment to the community.
As a biologist and ISA-certified arborist working throughout the Bay Area, my work has given me extensive experience with habitat assessment, tree risk management, restoration planning, and regulatory coordination with agencies such as the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and regional resource authorities. I regularly evaluate sensitive habitats, native and non-native vegetation, and tree health in the context of development, wildfire risk reduction, and long-term ecological resilience. This background allows me to bring a practical, solutions-oriented perspective that respects both environmental values and community needs. Beyond technical expertise, I am motivated by public service and value committees, like Open Space and Ecology Committee, because they provide a forum where residents, professionals, and the City can work together to protect open space, improve ecological outcomes, and educate the community.
What do you feel you could contribute to the Open Space and Ecology Committee? Please provide information that demonstrates your interest in open space and ecological issues.
As a biologist and ISA-certified arborist, I would contribute scientific expertise, practical field experience, and a collaborative approach to the Open Space and Ecology Committee. I regularly help translate technical information into practical recommendations that balance environmental protection with safety and community goals. I am interested in long-term open space stewardship, biodiversity, wildfire resilience, and thoughtful land management. I would welcome the opportunity to support informed, science-based planning for Brisbane.

Open Space & Ecology Committee Questions
Why do you want to be a member of the Open Space and Ecology Committee? I have had a lifelong interest in ecology and the environment. I began recycling, to the extent that it was possible, over 50 years ago. A former NewYorker, I moved to Oregon and was thrilled to Learn that someone would actually come and pick up your recycling! As an artist, I have done series of pieces that relate to various aspects of the environment and our consumer society, and have always encouraged others to be environmentally responsible.
Please list any background information (business, education, personal) that might be useful, especially concerning activities that demonstrate your record of public service and commitment to the community.
I have volunteered in numerous organizations over the years, giving general assistance at my local library, as a member of Washington County (OR) CERT, as a trained volunteer for Red Cross disaster response education (teaching both elementary school students and adults) and Red Cross disaster response technology (helping coordinate disaster response), and, most recently, with Brisbane Helping Hands.
At the high school where I worked for 10 years, I was the staff advisor to the "Green Club. " I helped students organize and implement recycling projects throughout the school.
My professional work was primarily in communications - directing projects, creating visuals, and writing scripts for presentations. I also have worked writing grant proposals and assisting others in book editing.
I worked in the WCBS-TV newsroom (NYC) as a researcher for John Stossel and have extensive experience information gathering, even in the time before the Internet. While working in the high school, I researched and assembled projects for teachers to use in the computer labs (and was the school webmaster).
What do you feel you could contribute to the Open Space and Ecology Committee? Please provide information that demonstrates your interest in open space and ecological issues.
I have closely followed the discussions surroundingthe Baylands and Quarry projects. I feel qualified to investigate and report on various aspects of the issues, in whatever capacity might be called for, and hopefullyto add valuable insight to discussions.
I have an extreme interest in expanding community engagement in environmental issues, particularly with the younger generation. Two of my granddaughters are members of the "Green Team" at Lipman. I have spoken to their advisor, and would love to see expanded community participation by these eager and open-minded young people. Teach them; teach theirfamilies.
