Consider Halloween Road Closure Recommendations from the Complete Streets Safety Committee Assistant to the City Manager Cheung reported that staff is recommending the Complete Streets Safety Committee's expanded closure option. This option includes the additional closure of San Bruno Avenue between 5-points and Alvarado. Closing all three perimeter streets would prevent Alvarado from becoming congested with drivers trying to get around the closure of San Bruno. Motorists would be able to use Visitacion, which would remain open, allowing them to navigate around the closure by way of the open portion of Alvarado before turning right on San Bruno, should they need to exit during the closure.
After Council questions with staff, Sarah and Raya Mills and Paul Mangiamele and Girls voiced their support of the new expanded street closure option. Jessica Aloft commented that she is in support of the larger footprint and she will be more than happy to coordinate the volunteers again this year.
