Mandated Languages
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk
has determined that, in addition to English, there are 18 mandated languages throughout the County of Los Angeles for the November 8, 2022 General Municipal Election as
follows:
• Armenian
• Bengali
• Burmese
• Chinese
• Farsi
• Gujarati
• Hindi
• Indonesian
• Japanese
• Khmer
• Korean
• Mongolian
• Russian
• Spanish
• Tagalog
• Telugu
• Thai
• Vietnamese
Candidate Statement Options
for City Council Consideration
Option 1:
Adopt a resolution approving a subsidy in the amount of $300 toward the English language Candidate Statement fee. (Attachment 3) Option 2:
Adopt a resolution setting the Candidate Statement fees at the full estimated amount of printing, handling, mailing, and electronically distributing the candidate statement and determining that the City Council no longer wishes to subsidize any portion of the English language Candidate Statement fees. (Attachment 4)
Conclusion
Staff is recommending that the City Council adopt the
following resolutions:
1. Calling for the General Municipal Election for
November 8, 2022;
2. Requesting Election Consolidation with the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles; and,
3. Establishing the Candidate Statement Fee.
