Interests & Experiences
Please tell us about yourself and why you want to serve.
Why are you interested in serving on a board, commission or committee? I would like to use my diverse background in law, consulting, investigation, professorship, and mediation to serve the needs of the Burbank community. Having been a resident of Burbank for my entire adult life, I have always desired to be a part of a collaborative decision-making process that betters the community.
Having watched Burbank grow for over the past two decades, I have stood in great admiration of many of the decisions our local government has made in turning Burbank into one of the most well-respected areas in Southern California. I am certain that I can be a part of the next generation of great leaders if given the honor to participate in our local government.

Intervention in Le Corbusier’s Carpenter Center
I initially studied the twisted paths that a pedestrian must take through, under, and around the building, and the Möbius str ip became a basic concept for my intervention. I cut, extended, and curved the forms of the existing concrete ramps to investiga te new

Abstract Spatial Study
Explore relationships of space through interlocking solids and voids of specified sizes. Obey a rigid 3” grid and use no more than three 45o triangles.
I used the alloted triangles to rotate the grid that would order my volumes, and this rotation created a new spatial system f or me to explore. I arranged the solids and the voids to accentuate this fundamental alteration by developing a line of symmetry that divided the axis of rotation. I filled the leftmost solids with additional museum board to balance the cantilever.

Case Study of Frank Harmon’s Prairie Ridge Open Air Pavilion Study the assigned existing building and present the analysis to the class.
I researched the architect and the specific project to focus our analysis on the most formally and structurally relevant aspects of the design. We modeled the building at 1/4” in a partially-completed state to better explore the essential structural systems.

Architectural Photography || Photographic Architecture
Create a uniquely-presented final portfolio consisting of my fifteen best prints.
The negatives I had exposed over the quarter captured a variety of subjects, and I wanted to investigate relationships between them. I drew upon childhood memories of Charles and Ray Eames ’ House of Cards to create a buildable photographic experience. I specified themes for each of the five visible faces: graffiti, structure, macro, portraits, fog. Subtle annotations near each slot specified a single construction sequence.

KESTON HOUSE REMODEL
As a team of five, friends of mine and I completely gutted this Saint An- thony Park house with the intention of adequately modernizing it while attempting to preserve its modest charm. When I arrived, the interior of the house was rather derelict.
Ceilings were drooping, walls leaned, and the kitchen sink’s constant drip had been steadily gouging a whole in the floor below. Beyond that, the house needed bathrooms. After applying sheetrock to all the walls and ceilings and replacing all the finish woodwork throughout the house, we added a kitchen and three bathrooms

SKATE GARAGE
This project came out of a concern for local community, that kids are spending too much time inside. I proposed to design an appropriate ar- chitecture for adolescent leisure in the city, suggesting that this archi- tecture would integrate youths’ everyday lives into the public realm by interfacing their spaces with spaces for adult generations. The project morphed into the design of a parking garage in Uptown Minneapolis, one that concurrently offers parking and provides opportunities for ado- lescents to freestyle skate. A bike shop and a snack store were incorpo- rated to interface older generations into this adolescent realm.

Florida Modern Residence
Schematic model of Residence
This project in Sanford, Florida was inspired by the
vernacular Spanish-style stucco homes in this city
in the northern suburbs of Orlando. How ever, the
construction materials were modernized to include
exterior walls of factory cast concrete panels and a
hollow core concrete panel roof structure with a
green roof system.

MIKVEH Ritual Bath in the Jewish tradition
VARYING STATES
OF WATER
The project was proposed on the built and un-
built site of Louis Kahn ’s Jewish Community Cen-
ter in Trenton, New Jersey. The design grew
from the role of the baths and that of water as
separating out impurities. The progression
through the building spaces functions as a filter,
marking the transition from the outside world to
the place of the ritual. The three states of water
informed the qualities of these major spaces as
well as the circulation between them.

Guatemala. The scope of the design was to provide a
multi-story facility on an extremely small lot. The
design was to encompass local building materials and
local architecture vernacular as the International
Style was being interpreted in Latin America.
