1 RESOLUTION NO. 22-29,364
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURBANK EXTENDING AN INVITATION TO AREZZO,
ITALY, TO BECOME A SISTER CITY AND INVITING THE
PEOPLE OF AREZZO, ITALY, TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
SISTER CITY PROGRAM.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURBANK FINDS:
A. The Sister Cities program was established by US President Dwight D.
Eisenhower in 1956 to establish greater friendship and understanding between the people of the United States and other nations, encouraging US cities to affiliate with cities in other countries that have similar characteristics and mutual interest.
B. The City of Burbank has established Sis ter City affiliations with Solna, Sweden (1960); Incheon, Korea (1961); Gaborone, Botswana (1975); and Ota, Japan (1983).
C. The City of Arezzo, Italy, shares a similar population and industries as the City of Burbank, making it a good candidate for a Sister City affiliation.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURBANK RESOLVES:
1. This City Council, on behalf of the people of the City of Burbank, does hereby extend an invitation to the government and the people of Arezzo, Italy, to participate with Burbank as its Sister City for the purpose of creating greater mutual understanding between the people of the two cities and nations.
2. The Mayor is authorized to act as official representative of the City of Burbank. The City Manager or designee is also authorized to implement the Sister City program and establish a Sister City affiliation with the City of Arezzo.

2 3. Copies of this resolution are to be sent to the Mayor and Council of Arezzo, Italy, the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, and to Sister Cities International.
