A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BURBANK TO AUTHORIZE THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
GRANT FROM CALIFORNIA LIBRARY LITERACY
SERVICES (CLLS) IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 27,962 AND
AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 202 2-23 BUDGET BY
RECEIVING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURBANK FINDS:
A. As part of California Library Literacy Services (CLLS) , a partnership between the California State Library and city and county library systems to improve the literacy skills of adults in California , the City of Burbank was awarded grant funds in the amount of $27,962 to provide literacy services to the community.
B. Acceptance of the grant funds will support the Burbank Public Library’s goal of providing services that encourage participants to become lifelong learners.
C. During the Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget process, Council provided $25,000 in funding for the City’s literacy program up front so adult literacy could be offered year - round. As a result, the City wishe s to appropriate $2,962 of the $2 7,962 grant award towards the City’s literacy program at this time, with the remainder of the grant award returning to the City’s General Fund.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURBANK RESOLVES:
1. The Library Services Direct or, or the Director’s designee, is authorized to accept grant funds from California Library Literacy Services and take all actions necessary to receive such funds.
2. The City’s Fiscal Year 2022-23 Annual Budget is amended by appropriating $2,962 from revenue account number 001.LB000.48010.1015.000000.00000 (General Fund, Library Services, Other Intergovernmental Revenues, Liter acy) to expenditure account number 001.LB02A.62625.0000.000000.00000 (General Fund, Library Services, Public Services, Literacy).

The Financial Services Director is authorized to receive and appropriate such funds when provided, and make such other revisions, changes in summaries, fund totals, grand totals, and other revisions to the budget document as necessary to reflect and implement the appropriations specified in this resolution.
