Please consider regulations to control the increasing number of gun dealers. The entire region is affected by them.

I am writing in strong support of the proposed regulations re: firearms. As a resident of LA County which encompasses Burbank, I know firsthand the impact gun violence has on a family and community. Firearms do not know jurisdictional boundaries, and business practices in Burbank impact neighboring communities. All firearm retailers should embrace responsible business practices that will significantly improve public safety and the community’s sense of security. Thank you for your efforts to protect our children, our families, and all our communities from gun violence.

Nothing is more important than protecting human life. We need more regulation on deadly possessions.

Pleas add these regulations for businesses. How sad that burbank is not putting family safety first. We are becoming known for having the most gun stores instead of being known for a city that puts family first. These regulations are not a hardship for anyone but they do so much to keep us safe Selina Herman

Thank you for the research on the common sense checks on operating a gun store in Burbank. This issue is extremely important to me as a resident and parent in Burbank. The proposed ordinance addresses many of the immediate concerns. I would like the council to explore creating zoning restrictions to keep gun stores away from schools, playgrounds, and other sensitive facilities. Again, I urge the council to continue pausing new gun stores and put in common sense regulations for Burbank gun stores. Thank you for listening to the Burbank community and ensuring our economics and quality of life.

Burbank is important . I am a citizen of California and thank you for considering regulations that will keep Burbank safe from gun violence. Y our leadership will encourage all other cities to pass similar bills. We want to continue to have California lead the nation in gun safety through thoughtful regulations . We know that many safety regulation start with the good work of local communities and that with your courage we will have other communities consider your regulations.

Thank you to the city council and staff for proposing these reasonable regulations to keep gun sales responsible and our community safe. I hope the council will advance their exploration on zoning restrictions to keep gun stores a safe distance from schools and other sensitive community locations.

Thank you for the opportunity to write in support of the series of regulations being proposed tomorrow tonight, June 6, to help keep the Burbank community and other Southern California communities safe from gun violence.

These regulations reflect good business practices that all firearm retailers should embrace as it will significantly improve public safety. Thank you for your efforts to protect our children, our families, and all our communities from gun violence and I hope that you will continue to explore opportunities to prohibit firearm retailers near schools and other sensitive areas.

Dear City Council Members,
I am reaching out to voice my support for amending Title 3 (Businesses and Licenses), Chapter 4 (Business and Occupations) to Establish Administrative Business License Requirements for Firearms and Ammunition Businesses in order to limit the number of gun stores in Burbank. I am a resident of Burbank with

2 small children and I have reached out
before expressing my feelings of disappointment and frankly, disgust,

at the gun stores in our
community. I'm glad and hopeful to hear that we are moving the needle forward by having this amendment on the table. I implore you to keep pushing with

your efforts at limiting gun stores
and that you approve this amendment. Not only is the proliferation of gun stores unsafe for children (and everyone!), it is absolutely hurting the diversity of economy and businesses by breeding an environment of fear, violence, and paranoia. We've seen time and again the repercussions of the free-flow of guns in our society and it is way past time to implement regulations so not every joe schmoe can easily access a murderous weapon. This would not be a ban on owning guns, but merely a regulation, which the Second Amendment allows. I deeply appreciate all the work that City Council has done to put this issue at the forefront and hope you maintain this momentum.

Best,
Ms. Van Ngo Malhotra (she/her)

Good afternoon City Council members,
I just wanted to give my emphatic support for the "Introduction of an Ordinance to Amend Title 3 (Businesses and Licenses), Chapter 4 (Business and Occupations) to Establish Administrative Business License Requirements for Firearms and Ammunition Businesses." The amount of gun stores in Burbank is too high and affects our retail diversity. I believe it also acts as a hindrance to new development. Nearly all of the areas around Burbank, including North Hollywood, Studio City, and Glendale, all have nicer retail businesses than Burbank. I believe the high amount of gun retailers on major thoroughfares in Burbank acts as a deterrence to new businesses from investing in our community.

We have the second highest number of gun stores per capita of any city in the United States(!) Our by-right laws allowing gun stores to open anywhere without scrutiny led to the
opening of Gun World less than a thousand feet from an elementary school, which should absolutely be criminal. I encourage you to act to limit this outdated by-right process for gun store ownership and consider the desires of your constituents, who overwhelmingly do not support more gun stores and want to see change.

I love living in Burbank, but the high concentration of gun stores makes me feel unsafe and, more importantly, makes me fear for my son's safety.

So I urge you to approve the proposed ordinance and encourage city staff to keep working on changes to the by-right zoning laws that are currently in place. As a Burbank resident and as a parent, my message is simple:
protect kids, not guns. The Second Amendment
contains the word "well-regulated" and that is what enacting these ordinances will do for Burbank.

Thank you for listening to the community and your efforts to get this passed.

Dear City Council and Mayor Anthony,
I'm writing in support of the proposed ordinance amending Title 3, Chapter 4 of the Burbank Municipal Code and creating new requirements for firearms and ammunition retail businesses requiring a local business license, as presented by Burbank City Staff.

I look forward to the Burbank Staff's continuing work on identifying additional requirements that could be

incorporated into the Municipal
Code, including additional zoning and land use regulations.

Time is of
the essence on this work.

Kind regards,
Julie D'Angelo
