Subject: Respectful Encouragement for a Timely and Mutually Acceptable Agreement

Dear Presidents of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists,

We, the Burbank City Council, are writing this letter with a unified voice to express our strong appeal for a timely and mutually acceptable agreement between your organizations. As the renowned "Media Capital of the World," the entertainment industry holds profound significance within our vibrant Burbank community. With over 1,000 entertainment companies and 39,000 industry jobs, our city is deeply impacted by the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike which commenced on May 2, 2023, followed by the strike from SAG-AFTRA. As we near day 100 of the WGA strike, it is in the best interest of ever yone involved, from producers to actors and writers, crew members, and audiences alike, that fair and equitable agreements are reached. The continuation of the strikes will have significant negative impacts on the community, both within the industry and beyond.

We acknowledge the complexity of the issues at hand and the differing interests and perspectives that both parties must navigate during these negotiations. However, we firmly believe that by fostering an atmosphere of compromise and demonstrating a genuine commitment to the future of the entertainment industry, a solution that honors the valuable contributions of all stakeholders can be found. We strongly urge both the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA to prioritize these negotiations, engage in open and honest dialogue, and demonstrate a genuine willingness to find common ground.

Thank you for considering our perspective and for your dedication to the continued success of the film and television industry. We eagerly await the news of a positive outcome from your negotiations.

Sincerely,
Burbank City Council
